Deletions due to being discussed elsewhere

Hi

I was wondering if this is going to be the case for all posts now? Can they be deleted just because they’re discussed elsewhere?

It’s a public forum of course all posts might be discussed elsewhere, that’s the risk you take when you post online.

Why doesn’t this happen when people’s threads end up on Facebook/twitter pages dedicated to slating MN users? Not to mention the scummy journos who lift entire threads on here but MNHQ are happy to keep them?

I thought you didn’t delete threads unless against guidelines etc? Is this going to be a new guideline? Must not be discussed on certain forums?

I don't know the thread that was deleted. If it was deleted for being referred to on reddit, then this makes no sense at all.
I totally understand vulnerable posters getting slagged off elsewhere. But unfortunately that has happened for years in various face book groups. But beyond that, I do think we need scottishmummy here to say 'its only words on a page', stop getting so over invested in what is a chat forum.

YW. Grin @ FAAF

(I'm only on season two of TWD, so be kind.)

thanks for explaining about 'moldies', battleax - am slightly perplexed that people can get so worked up about an internet forum

all still can't work out the whole Euphemia thing (didn't see the original thread) - despite a peek at the other place - but don't want to go down the TAAT route (or FAAF - forum about a forum...)

Aridane · 16/11/2017 16:52

(though the way TWD is going, Rick waking up and it all being a dream might be an improvement / mercy killing Sad)

Here it is. Nine years ago. It made the national press, as you can see Hmm

Moldies is short for "Mumsnet-oldies". They were an invitation only splinter group who set themselves up a long time ago (ill make a guess at 8-10 years ago) and caused ructions by siphoning off a section of the MN membership to their "select" group elsewhere. Lots of upset all round.

There have been lots of similar groups set up since. Much more quietly.

Aridane · 16/11/2017 16:36

Can someone tell me who or what were the moldies referred to in this thread (as in before moldies)?

Battleax · 16/11/2017 16:30

Nobody made it to the end of the Lost. So nobody knows. It's shroedingers Lost.

LineysRum · 16/11/2017 16:29

So, Lost anyone?

Coconutspongexo · 16/11/2017 16:18

I think you might be right

Afternoon folks, and thanks again to those who reported- we'll be getting back to you shortly. While we appreciate the strength of feeling on this thread, it has digressed quite some way from the OP... We're unlocking it for now, but we will zap if it becomes an out and out bunfight.

sandymumsnet · 16/11/2017 09:31

Morning everyone,

We've had a ton of reports about this thread, thanks to everyone who took the time to report - we will get to them all shortly, please do bear with. Meanwhile, we're going to lock this thread and take a good look before we decide on the best action. Many thanks.

SoupDragon · 16/11/2017 09:23

I never got all the way to the end of Lost and I don't think that is necessarily a bad thing.

Weebo · 16/11/2017 09:14

DH was a huge Lost fan and I'm not sure even he knows what happened in the end.

I thought it was all a dream?

I only watched it to shout 'POLAR BEAR!' randomly and annoy him.

LineysRum · 16/11/2017 09:08

Or dead. Or something. Or written by writers who hadn't properly thought the ending through.

I feel a bit like this thread is Lost Sad

CoteDAzur · 16/11/2017 08:28

I’ve always been into SF, too. Come over to the 50-Book Chalkenge thread if you want to trade some recommendations Smile

LineysRum · 16/11/2017 08:26

Yeah, Lost. I never watched Quantum Leap. I'm into sci fi in a big way, though. It comforts me in these dislocating times.

CoteDAzur · 16/11/2017 08:24

Lost? Grin

Battleax · 16/11/2017 08:23

Quantum Leap?

LineysRum · 16/11/2017 08:21

This is just like that T.V. programme, the one where they all wander about for ages trying to work out what's going on and who's in charge and it turns out they all don't even exist. No, not the Apprentice, the other one.
