And I swear I have never offloaded a dog or been horrible to a dog. I love my dog as much as my Dd!

Me too, probably a bit more lately Grin

Ginslinger · 26/08/2017 21:40

I remember CAt me you cunt, but I can't remember the context

PacificDogwod · 26/08/2017 21:38

she liked dogs more than people.

She liked ALL dogs more than SOME people - and at times I can see her point.

Smegs Grin

SoPassRemarkable · 26/08/2017 21:35

SoPassRemarkable · 26/08/2017 21:34

Yeah. She probably did.

She was totally vile to me once. Can't even remember what about but I think it was that which got her banned. I swear I didn't report her though. I did feel bad when she was banned.

ScrambledSmegs · 26/08/2017 21:33

I like reddit. I also like MN.

Feel like I'm in those Aldi adverts.

BackieJerkhart · 26/08/2017 21:27

I always got the impression she liked dogs more than people.

Grin maybe because she explicitly stated it repeatedly!

Valuedopinion · 26/08/2017 21:27

I think that she got so frustrated with some of the posters either offloading their dogs or not looking after them that she exploded a few times.
She saw the rough side of rescue and all the dogs being put down while people breeding more.

I don't blame her for losing it.

PacificDogwod · 26/08/2017 21:26

Oh gawd, I had totally forgotten about Valhalla! Shock

BackieJerkhart · 26/08/2017 21:25

Oh valhalla! Wow. There's a blast from the past. She really was a font of wisdom wrt all things dog. How can we have lost people like Valhalla and be left with tossers starting threads to con people out of money being backed up by HQ Angry it's fucked up.

OP posts:
SoPassRemarkable · 26/08/2017 21:23

Valhalla did some great education but could be very nasty to people sometimes......and not always to people who deserved it.

I always got the impression she liked dogs more than people......to be honest I'm coming round to that myself these days.

Valuedopinion · 26/08/2017 21:20

Valhalla was great, should never have been banned. Always picking up the pieces from the idiots buying puppies.

BeyondLimitsAndWhatever · 26/08/2017 21:14

Valhalla!
There are so many posters that I miss and it's only threads like this that make me remember how many of them there are :(

catiinboots · 26/08/2017 21:04

CAT me you cunt

Wasn't that something to do with Valhalla and dogs???

Fuck me my memory is sketchy

CharlieSierra · 26/08/2017 21:03

I read more than post these days; it's true that having all your interests in one place is the best thing about MN but I'm drifting away because of the gratuitous nastiness on a lot of threads and the blatant trolling. Interesting discussions and witty repartee do seem a bit thin on the ground lately.

ibbleobbleblackbubble · 26/08/2017 20:25

The user12345 handle seem to be made for trolling
there were lots of complaints but it took ages for Mumsnet headquarters to do anything about it

AccrualIntentions · 26/08/2017 20:15

I'm not sure that it's reasonable to tell people if they don't like it here, to piss off somewhere else (fair enough) - but then get agitated when they do just that. If they should just piss off if they don't like MN anymore, perhaps others should just not read Reddit? As for appearing to ban someone on here because of something they posted on there...wtf Hmm

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 26/08/2017 20:15

I agree with what Ginslinger says.

I do get in the occasional bunfight, don't really care who likes me or not so I have been had the occasional deleted post or five.

I will stay, because if the bigger turnover in threads, and because it feels more familiar, but I'm fully aware things are far from rosy.

Justine confirmed upthread (or possibly on the first thread?) that the user123456 nonsense has been ended - there are some legacy users, but new sign ups are apparently required to come up with a proper username before posting

ParkheadParadise · 26/08/2017 20:11

I think the rot set in when their was NO explanation concerning Dodgy D and poster's moved to Reddit to discuss it.

PacificDogwod · 26/08/2017 20:10

the great thing about MN is that I can do all my chatting about feminism, property porn, dress hunting, schools and Game of Thrones all in one place.

I agree - that is MN's USP and that is why it will survive*. I think.

*although my interests are different from yours and I bow to your superior knowledge of GoT - I only lurk on those threads.

PacificDogwod · 26/08/2017 20:08

Ginslinger, I luffs you, but not yer quiche
Wine

OlennasWimple · 26/08/2017 20:07

The thing is, there isn't really anywhere else to go.

Reddit has some subReddits that are close in tone and content to some of the boards on here, but are far far bigger than any of the MN board readership other than perhaps AIBU and so very very impersonal. The new TwasAllFields subReddit is a useful outlet for MN refugees for now, but I predict it will fizzle away in due course (or simply be the place where people post pictures of their dogs) because it isn't and can't be structured to replicate the various bits of MN, so if you want to get stuck into a good parking wars thread, you have to scroll past seventy billion "here is my dog" / recipe request / TV show discussion threads. Anyone looking for help on, say, a secondary school appeal or weaning would find it nigh impossible unless the thread happened to take off and get lots of upvotes.

I am still technically a NM member, and get emails from them every so often, but haven't been on there for literally years and cannot remember my log in details to de-reg. I have no interest in posting on that site, for various reasons.

I use some other online sites for niche things, but the great thing about MN is that I can do all my chatting about feminism, property porn, dress hunting, schools and Game of Thrones all in one place.
