"Although most cockroaches don’t actually produce milk, Diploptera punctate, which is the only known cockroach to give birth to live young, has been shown to pump out a type of ‘milk’ containing protein crystals to feed its babies." - science thing.

Christinayangstwistedsista · 25/08/2017 19:51

Oh come on, Stratters is the one of the good ones, it would appear she has been treated very shabbily over this

NerrSnerr · 25/08/2017 19:48

The Reddit group has people in it that I can imagine say in real life 'I tell it like it is me', not realising they're just being bitchy and ironically I sound like a bitch saying that.

Hold the phone! You can MILK a cockroach? Please tell me this is a lie.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 25/08/2017 19:43

this is why we can't have nice things.
Did an actual lol at that Grin
(No tea spat on screen though, sadly)

BrainSaysNo · 25/08/2017 19:43

Come join me BoreOfWhabylon, its an unusual place for me, I am normally very clear on where I stand.

I feel like I am at a tennis match at the moment (all self inflicted, I'm trying to avoid finishing sorting out a cupboard on the kitchen).
On the plus side I reminded myself during my clearing up there was a bottle of wine in there so have chucked that in the freezer for a speedy chill! The minus is that half of the cupboard is on the kitchen floor and I am about to get pissed Grin

Saucery · 25/08/2017 19:42

Tech did do a Glitterball, OneThing, but it got accidentally thrown through a window in a temper. It's a shame, but there you go....this is why we can't have nice things.

Valuedopinion · 25/08/2017 19:41

In many instances it's not saying anything to someone's face. It's gossiping about certain posters who aren't even on the threads

Oh she is on the thread I think.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 25/08/2017 19:40

Maudlin Shock
Shhh!** - you mustn't mention being on the Reddit...!! WinkGrin

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 25/08/2017 19:39

Queen the Reddit threads are not brutal well not unless you're a snowflake.

Oh come off it that troll sub forum is quite brutal and nasty in places.

Valuedopinion · 25/08/2017 19:38

I agree that the Reddit threads seem to self police quite well in the whole.

oddfish · 25/08/2017 19:37

Cockroach milk is supposed to be some kind of superfood. I think I'll pass though.

OneThingAndThenTheNext · 25/08/2017 19:36

Well, what a delightful way to start a bank holiday weekend.

Are we still getting a disco ball icon? misses point of thread entirely

LadyDeadpool · 25/08/2017 19:36

It's more "Is it possible x is a troll?" then responses "Yes I think so because x and y" or "No, they've been around for a while and seem lovely just need a bit of help" or "No, just a bit of a fantasist"

At least there we can say what we think regarding certain users trolling or not, in fact once a certain user did accuse someone else of being a nasty troll then had a conversation with said user and posted a public apology for saying it. That would never have happened here because the poster thinking someone else was a troll would have been banned for troll hunting and never gotten the chance to discuss their concerns with the other poster.
No-ones mincing their words because we don't have to be afraid and if that does offend snowflakes then perhaps its time they took a break from the internet as Justine put so well with Stratters. Smile

BeyondLimitsAndWhatever · 25/08/2017 19:35

You can set Reddit to read older posts first. Still a tad faffy with the direct replies splinting off (but then that's easier in a way too) but much easier to read DOWN the page :)

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 25/08/2017 19:34

I can't find anything about mn or cockroaches on there, am I thick or is it very hard to navigate?

www.reddit.com/r/MNTrolls/

oddfish · 25/08/2017 19:33

A points system that only HQ and the person can see? A bit like a driving licence.

There also needs to be some kind of appeal system. There are some very dodgy sounding ban stories going around.

There is another problem that you can read Mumsnet, but can't report threads. What happens when a banned lurker sees something very bad?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 25/08/2017 19:33

I can't work out how to use Reddit or I'd be over there like a shot

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 25/08/2017 19:33

And nothing has been said that's untrue or nasty

Lizzylou · 25/08/2017 19:33

I have looked at the Reddit threads, they are quite brutally honest about one poster (rightly so in the most part, she does seem pretty teflon coated in MNHQ tbh) and actually self-police rather nicely. Reddit is though VERY difficult to read and comprehend posts are all over the place.
I am really shocked at the treatment of Stratters and wholeheartedly agree with Mrs V's post. This is not the MN and the MNHQ of old.

bloodymaria · 25/08/2017 19:32

Rubbish. It's a complete bitchfest.

Nope

Pretty sure the poster(s) being discussed are well used to googling their own usernames.

The only one I can think of is well aware she's being talked about and has sent her flying monkey in rather than address it herself.

And nothing has been said that's untrue or nasty.
