OYBBK, that was some years ago I think? Originally, I guess, when it was thought that 2am was a 'quiet' time here in the UK - and then when 'original Tech' (gawd bless the lovely Steven!) moved to Manhattan!!

I can't use mn like this, it's driving me loopy I'm off for a few hours!!

Mine came back on a few times, but has now been gone consistently for the last couple of hours.

TBH I hadn't realised just how much I use it to navigate around MN - without it, it's nigh impossible to do anything other than jump in and out of a couple of random threads on Active.

MrsH - I would hazard a guess that Tuesday at 1am is a lot lot quieter on MN than Tuesday at 1pm (or whenever they started making the change over). I don't understand why Tech would make things harder for themselves by rolling it out during a busy period. It's pretty standard for tech updates / patches to be released at quiet times, and I'm sure MN can stump up some overtime as needed. Not least because that should be factored into the plan for the update, rather than hoping it will all be tickety-boo but then need unplanned overtime (I imagine this is the position now - a fix doesn't seem likely in normal working hours....)

And it would have been smart to start a thread in Site Stuff, stickied to the top of Active, saying that changes to TIO / TIW were being rolled out and what sort of feedback would be helpful to Tech. Not silence until it all goes wrong, then a sort of brush of message some time later

Argh mine has gone too. I agree with PP that this is the only site I know that f's up so bloody much! None of the other forum websites I use ever go down!

Sorry, also Chrome on Android (Samsung). Looks like it's been phased.

DH does rollouts for airports- they have very narrow overnight windows to rollout, test, then rollback if necessary. Otherwise passengers arrive and can't check in, and flights arrive and bags can't be identified, and so on.

MN isn't that time critical, nor does it have any downtime at all. I imagine though that it has more to do with TechKittens not wanting to do night shifts if they can help it and/or the accountants not wanting to pay them for antisocial hours.

Mine was working until about an hour ago and there's a vair vair important Game of Thrones debrief/speculation thread ... !!

Apparently I've not been on any threads either. Bit frustrating as is where I start when I come on to MN.
