Can we have a board for people to rant about trans stuff?

Because I'm sick of clicking on a thread in aibu or chat and seeing vile being sprouted when the title gave no inclination that it was another anti-trans thread. It's getting boring now.

OP posts:

MNHQ will delete such post and tbf I have never seen the vitriolic hatred posts you speak of. Do you have any examples?

No, because they've all (thankfully) been deleted.

CosmicPineapple · 11/08/2017 23:09

I've seen comments deleted for less than the vitriolic hatred against trans people in some posts, and those comments are deleted because "we don't abide by agism" etc.

Nope not true. At all. Why are you making things up?

Regardless of what commenters are saying, MNHQ needs to treat all groups equally in their moderating, which they do not.

Thank You Strummerville

Datun · 05/08/2017 23:32

Totally. Any man who is that desperate to access women's spaces is very suspect indeed. And should be excluded on that basis alone.

treaclesoda · 05/08/2017 23:22

The weird thing that some women don't seem to grasp is that even if they are in the 'you're all nasty bigots' camp, that doesn't make them any less at risk. They don't undo the risk to themselves by being supportive of the rights of people who wish them harm. And men who would exploit legal loopholes to ensure access to places where women should be safe from them do wish women harm, even if it's not physical harm.

Datun · 05/08/2017 23:17

I think this erosion of debate and freedom of speech, alongside the bill itself, is the single most terrifying thing to happen in my lifetime. And I'm old enough to remember a lot of scary stuff.

^^this.

And people who don't get it are ignorant. I'm sorry, it's completely true. If you don't understand why people are upset about this is because you don't know what's going on.

Strummerville · 05/08/2017 21:38

It's because of the paragraph break Luluuuuu. You'd need to have the asterisks around the first para and then another set around the second.

LuLuuuuuuu · 05/08/2017 20:31

And another bold fail !! I am putting the bloody * at the start and end .

LuLuuuuuuu · 05/08/2017 20:31

*Right now in the UK in 2017 there is the potential for a law to be introduced that could potentially endanger women and girls. All women and girls. That's half the population. And yet attempts to discuss it are being shouted down as bigotry and hatred. And if the law is passed it will be all but impossible to reverse.

Absolutely well said .

Trans hatred my arse

This.

CosmicPineapple · 03/08/2017 22:06

You are the only person to actually appreciate the effort made on that title.....felling a liitle emotoinal Grin

I should not have had to go to those lengths really. I should not be sensored or controlled but I am because i wanted my thread to stay on tooic (which it has)

GerdaLovesLili · 03/08/2017 21:25

It's true of most things on here (the round and round). I don't think that a trans board is the answer either, but thank you for taking the time to make your thread title obvious.

CosmicPineapple · 03/08/2017 21:17

I think thats true of most topics Gerda the ones in relationships go round and round so much there is a pinned post pointing out the obvious signs.

A topic will go around in circles until there is an end point. For me trans issues have a much more devestating impact on the world than mil issues and they (mil issues) dont have there own shoved in a corner board so trans issues should not either.

Just my own view.

GerdaLovesLili · 03/08/2017 20:59

Thank you Cosmic Pineapple Flowers

It's not that I'm not interested in the debate, it's just that there doesn't seem to be anything new to add to it on here at the moment and it just goes round and round.

CosmicPineapple · 03/08/2017 20:57

I posted a trans thread today. I spent longer on the title making sure it was explaining the trans content (so people did not open it get pissed and post in sight stuff) than I did on the actual post Confused

AssassinatedBeauty · 03/08/2017 20:49

Totally a conspiracy to force people to briefly scan a post before realising they're not interested and closing it. Not sure what grand plan that conspiracy is going to achieve...

GerdaLovesLili · 03/08/2017 20:46

Yes, but wouldn't it be nice? I just don't open anything that isn't obvious anymore. So. Many. Ambiguously. Titled. "Trans" threads. One might begin to think it was deliberate.

AssassinatedBeauty · 03/08/2017 20:17

That's unnecessary. It's a matter of seconds to close a thread that you don't want to read, it's not difficult. No need for any special codes, which would be totally unenforceable anyway.

GerdaLovesLili · 03/08/2017 18:42

The thing about MIL threads and Parking threads is that they're pretty easy to identify and not click on if you have had it up to your ears with those topics. Perhaps if we now have to point out that we're not to be taken seriously by using the "light-hearted" tag, there should be a similar code for trans/womens rights threads. Then no-one who doesn't want to get dragged into the same circular "debate" has to even open them.

Datun · 31/07/2017 01:20

U2HasTheEdge

Not one person that I have read who think we are transphobic has ever put across a well reasoned argument about why we might have this wrong. Why?

Because there isn't one. It really is that simple.

The only argument that isn't a complete denial of science, biology, and women's oppression is 'just do it to be nice'. (Which in its own twisted way rather supports the argument of women's oppression...).

Sallystyle · 30/07/2017 11:09

My sister hated my views. She called me transphobic on many occasions and she could not believe that I was so 'closed-minded'.

She messaged me a few days ago to tell me she was reading a forum with a feminist section (not MN) and was reading the similar arguments I had with her and she finally got it. She is now as scared as I am about how this is all going down and she has done a complete U-Turn.

If she was a MNer a week ago she would have been on this thread calling for us to have our own little forum 'to spread our hatred' I'm sure. Thankfully she stopped putting her fingers in her ears and actually listened to what we had to say and really spent some time considering it and what this new legalisation could mean for women and young girls.

Her prior arguments were the same as some people's here. We are just phobic and spreading hate. That was her argument for everything and it's the same for people on MN who accuse us of 'ranting about trans stuff'.

If you have a well thought out argument about why this new legalisation isn't dangerous for women, why it wouldn't be taken advantage of by men who just want to easily access our spaces and why it is ok for a 13 year old to have a double mastectomy and put children on puberty blockers please join us in a debate. All I have heard so far is 'transphobic' but never any well thought out arguments about why our concerns aren't valid.

Not one person that I have read who think we are transphobic has ever put across a well reasoned argument about why we might have this wrong. Why?

MorrisZapp · 29/07/2017 11:32

I read an article suggesting that for trans roles, they shouldn't use born sex actors. In other words, in a role like Jared Leto's in Dallas Buyers Club, the transwoman should have been played by a woman.

Because when men get on stage and collect Oscars for playing transwomen, this 'plays into the dangerous belief that transwomen are really men'.

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 29/07/2017 11:23

they didnt even pick a large framed woman (like me!) for the role!!

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 29/07/2017 11:22

I've said for years that it's very convenient that the UKs most high profile trans role (i.e. Hayley Cropper) was a woman. Gives the impression that all transwomen are delicate and "womanly" bodied.
