i thought it was done to educate people on children with disabilities...
yet here we are with thread 13 about CG full of rubberneckers making disablist comments about brain damage Or should I say ignorant comments.
why is mn hq not saying hang on a minute this isn't in the spirit of the site and reminding posters of the TIMC Campaign .

Wow, so a taat is allowed to stand, but I'm deleted for talking about what other forums out there are saying. bizzareConfused

Not much at all has happened since the threads started, you could sum it up in a couple of sentences all that has happened since Gosh have taken it back to court

I summed up part of it upthread, involving around 15 separate developments - and that doesn't even cover everything. But, of course, the threads have also ranged over several much wider issues including the legal principles involved, legal aid, the nature of medical investigations, the use of social media, the use of publicists, a number of related cases - and, indeed, whether it is appropriate to keep quoting from the CA Facebook page. And some totally unrelated posts inquiring about individual posters' health, whether to set up a separate FB discussion, why posts appear twice - in fact the usual diverse stuff that appears in virtually any long-running social media discussion. I fear you will have to be asked to excuse MN for the crime of having posts that you don't personally believe to be necessary.

Anyway I don't have anything else to contribute. There's no point making the same argument over again , which is what I guess part of my issue with the CG threads is.

SouthWestmom · 23/07/2017 18:23

Nauticant I don't think you know what disingenuous means. But I guess what you are trying to say is that complaining on one thread about people on another thread talking about other people is hypocritical? Which could be a fair ish point I suppose.

You make it sound like they've just randomly decided to pick on his parents, Noeuf

It's a huge news item.

nauticant · 23/07/2017 18:05

Like I said, highly disingenuous.

SouthWestmom · 23/07/2017 18:02

Not really nauticant. Having 14 threads basically criticising the parents of a very ill and disabled baby for their choices is pretty disturbing in light of the whole parents for parents and TIMC campaign. So I suspect the op was trying to debate this and not pick over the detail like vultures.

nauticant · 23/07/2017 17:59

This business of complaining that posters are discussing Charlie Gard on a thread referring to Charlie Gard in the OP is really peculiar. Or highly disingenuous.

User843022 · 23/07/2017 17:58

'yet here we are with thread 13 about CG full of rubberneckers making disablist comments about brain damage Or should I say ignorant comments. '

Because zzzz, , ^ that was in the op. That was what has been responded to

Because zzz it went off on a tangent due the op putting 'rubbernecking' in the op.

Actually I stand corrected. I hadn't seen the latest CG thread but looking through it it does seem like the same posters picking apart and analysing every quote. I thought different people were contributing. You would think after they'd posted a few times they'd have exhausted all they had to say really.

Co1onelblimp · 23/07/2017 17:27

Eh zzzzz The very first post on this thread referenced Charlie Gard. I think you'll find that' s why people are talking about it!

I actually agree Dixie that not much has happened. While I have found the thread interesting and commented on a couple of the very early ones, I have no idea how it'"s reached thread 14, with very little actually happening!
There are a few posters on there every day. It does feel like a bit of an obsession with some of them TBH.. in that sense it's not very different to CA.

Ah right I didn't realise it was purely because the parents had released details for public support, I thought it was released as part of the original court case.
I know it's obviously emotive I just don't understand why people can't voice their thoughts whether in support of the families wishes or the hospitals without such vitriol.

SouthWestmom · 23/07/2017 16:15

And in the 15th July Thread 10 was started, they are now at Thread 14 (600 odd posts?) . So, four full threads and a fifth one mid way in a week where not much happened.

Ceto · 23/07/2017 16:11

Myrtle, I 100% agree that the backlash against the parents is disgraceful. Unfortunately I think it is only too likely that they have had to suffer attacks and threats from evil and sick people, because that happens far too often on social media.

You ask why we know his name - it's because the parents have chosen to use publicity - and again, they are perfectly entitled to do so.

Co1onelblimp · 23/07/2017 16:08

There is a huge backlash against the parents now. It was bound to happen at some point.
People are angry about the abuse both to the staff and parents of other very ill children at GOSH.

Ceto · 23/07/2017 16:08

Portia, who said you weren't entitled to your opinion? That doesn't mean, however, that other people aren't equally entitled to express different opinions.

Ceto · 23/07/2017 16:05

Yes it absolutely did

I take it that this refers to my description of recent developments in this case, and your statement, Dixie, that "most of that happened before the threads started"?

The series of events I described began with the European Court decision on 27th June; then there were the announcements about when he would be taken off the ventilators, the last being on 30th June when the parents said GOSH were allowing more time. The next event I cited was the experts writing about new evidence, which was announced around 6th July.

There were a couple of longish threads beginning on 29th June and 1st July, plus various other shorter threads or brief discussions in others before the current batch began on 6th July.

So, no, most of the events I cited clearly did not happen before the threads started.

User843022 · 23/07/2017 16:03

Isn't it all horrible the way there is now a backlash against the parents after the hospital released information about death threats against them.

'CA' attacking the hospital, others attacking the parents and at the centre a gravely ill DC who deserves confidentiality and privacy imo like any patient. Why do we even know his name it's terrible.
