Hello there!

We would like to cordially invite you all to join us this coming Sunday, June 18, for a Great Get Together - in memory of the late Jo Cox MP, and in support of her family's organisation, More In Common, which aims to get us all to celebrate the things that unite us.

So whether you're reasonable or unreasonable, whether you have or have not Googled penguin bollards, and whether or not you think the OP should have cashed the cheque, we'd love to see you all here on Sunday around midday.

There will be PRIZES, chatting and amusing gifs (courtesy of AliceDMumsnet's 'solid gold gifs' folder). Please bring your best children's jokes, pictures of any kittens who have recently adopted you, and heartwarming stories of love and friendship across the divide (Netmums).

BYO booze. Folk dancing will not be tolerated in the shallow end.

(If you'd rather go to an event near you and meet other people face-to-face, check out the Great Get Together's listings of thousands of events across the UK here.)

Love
MNHQ

We should have "getting-our-ducks-in-a-row" we're all good at that here.

DawnMumsnet · 18/06/2017 14:36

@paxillin

We'll use Pimms for sponge soaking.

Is anyone else dreaming about trifle now? Smile

How about if we soak the sponges in Pimms RowanMN??? Er....no pushing in the queue please...I was actually first to receive a good sponging Grin

paxillin · 18/06/2017 14:32

We'll use Pimms for sponge soaking.

RowanMumsnet · 18/06/2017 14:30

@paxillin

Did we have throw-a-sponge yet? Do we use teacher or MNHQ "volunteers"?

I'm... allergic... to water?

Here's my very dim dog, Kasper, looking for his stick (which went on the fire yesterday).

RowanMumsnet · 18/06/2017 14:29

HANG ON I've just realised yesitsmeidontcare claims to be walking her cat and I think I need to know more

fruitbats yes, my cat is 22 - well we think she is, she was a rescue so it's all a bit of an estimate. I've definitely had her for 20 years though. DS1 says the oldest cat on record was 40-something, although frankly DS1 talks a lot of nonsense sometimes

here she is complaining about the heat while wearing a fur coat

Passes bottle and a straw....offers air kisses, mwah, mwah...ok again now Autumnal...not really a Belieber though can singalong to his songs...

paxillin · 18/06/2017 14:27

AutumnalLeaves38 · 18/06/2017 14:24

"The Justin Bieber one actually.... "

As well you might, Sass Shock

May have to re-evaluate our friendship, which was developing so nicely, too...

(Though am generously prepared to forget you're a Belieber, if you top up my curiously addictive Croatian blue liqueur Grin).

RowanMumsnet · 18/06/2017 14:20

That human fruit machine is genuine genius

OP posts:
TressiliansStone · 18/06/2017 14:19

Ooh, I MUST have a go at the fruit machine!

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 18/06/2017 14:17

British things.
Two days of sunshine is officially a heatwave.
Bluebells
99s with monkey blood.

Oh and just reminding everyone that hair braids will be against school uniform policy, so get ready for the inevitable thread in the morning.

TressiliansStone · 18/06/2017 14:13

(Though that's actually contemporary dance in the second clip - combining several traditional southern African dance styles. "Morris" dancing is a descendant of "Moorish" dancing, where "Moor" just meant anyone African.)

AutumnalLeaves38 · 18/06/2017 14:12

Anyone sauntered by these nutters yet? They're to the right of the Sausage Sizzle bbq, manned by those Dads in fetching novelty aprons.

RowanMumsnet · 18/06/2017 14:10

These young Spanish men are very forward

Took us ages to get the stick-work right, Tressilians. Let's just say IonaMumsnet took the opportunity to work off some frustrations

OP posts:
SassynSane · 18/06/2017 14:10

Ooh....MNHQ...can you rise to the challenge of Morris dancing to When Doves Cry? I'd pay money to see that!!!

SassynSane · 18/06/2017 14:08

Next one though...When Doves Cry, Prince....just on radio now.... 😍

TressiliansStone · 18/06/2017 14:08

Then you can put your jingly feet up and watch some original Moorish dancing:

#MoreInCommon

SassynSane · 18/06/2017 14:07

The Justin Bieber one actually....

TressiliansStone · 18/06/2017 14:06

OK, MNHQ, enough rehearsal! Time for your grand performance!

fruitbats · 18/06/2017 14:06

tra la la la

TressiliansStone · 18/06/2017 14:02

Do you mean this one, sassy?

"Despacito ft. Daddy Yankee"

SassynSane · 18/06/2017 14:01

Despacito
Quiero respirar tu cuello despacito
Deja que te diga cosas al oído
Para que te acuerdes si no estás conmigo
Despacito
Quiero desnudarte a besos despacito
Firmo en las paredes de tu laberinto
Y hacer de tu cuerpo todo un manuscrito
(Sube, sube, sube
Sube, sube)
