Hello there!

We would like to cordially invite you all to join us this coming Sunday, June 18, for a Great Get Together - in memory of the late Jo Cox MP, and in support of her family's organisation, More In Common, which aims to get us all to celebrate the things that unite us.

So whether you're reasonable or unreasonable, whether you have or have not Googled penguin bollards, and whether or not you think the OP should have cashed the cheque, we'd love to see you all here on Sunday around midday.

There will be PRIZES, chatting and amusing gifs (courtesy of AliceDMumsnet's 'solid gold gifs' folder). Please bring your best children's jokes, pictures of any kittens who have recently adopted you, and heartwarming stories of love and friendship across the divide (Netmums).

BYO booze. Folk dancing will not be tolerated in the shallow end.

(If you'd rather go to an event near you and meet other people face-to-face, check out the Great Get Together's listings of thousands of events across the UK here.)

Love
MNHQ

Bloody lovely idea :) Me and the small human are having a bit of a chillout, chat, and education about tolerance and differences anyway this weekend due to recent events nationally and the behaviour displayed towards a family and their son in his class at the school. Ties in nicely Grin

WhosTakingDeHorseToFrance · 17/06/2017 18:56

Please tell me someone is sorting the tombola?

I've been warming up for the human fruit machine!

AutumnalLeaves38 · 17/06/2017 18:16

MNHQ,

Please, oh please, confirm Welly Wanging is happening at tomorrow's fête?
(My pivot game is strong). Wink

And the Garden On A Plate entry is coming on a treat, since you ask...

AdaColeman · 17/06/2017 16:48

I'm making some glittery gin and lime jellies to bring along, and a bucket of Pimms.

Covfefe · 17/06/2017 16:42

I'm here, but will sit quietly in the corner as I still have a hangover from last night. Virtual boozy get togethers are less painful than real ones.

A virtual glass raised to Joe Cox and her lovely family.

TressiliansStone · 17/06/2017 14:24

Ooh, lovely idea! Shall start planning an outfit now!

AutumnalLeaves38 · 17/06/2017 06:43

^ Seriously, though, the Great Get Together idea sounds a lovely way in which to honour Jo Cox.
Best of luck to everyone holding one of the events, big or small. Flowers

AutumnalLeaves38 · 17/06/2017 06:22

Count me in, RowanMumsnet...

(but on the condition that we're treated to rhythmic displays from the entire MNHQ Clog Morris side...).

What shall I wear? Anyone want to help me find a dress.

NauticalDisaster · 16/06/2017 21:01

A virtual party is one I can join! Love it!

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 16/06/2017 16:53

Gonna need one heck of a lemon drizzle cake!

Bloodybridget · 16/06/2017 16:40

I can't join you but wish you a merry time!

fruitbats · 16/06/2017 16:25
Wink
ApplesinmyPocket · 16/06/2017 15:03

It sounds lovely. I'm in!

HerRoyalFattyness · 16/06/2017 14:51

I'm in! As long as I can wear my jamas.

CotswoldStrife · 16/06/2017 12:04

I will attempt to escape Father's Day and join you near the time! A lovely idea (but as I'm allergic to cats I'll scroll quickly past the photos).

FranksBobot · 16/06/2017 11:59

Sad I'm working a stupid 12 hour shift on Sunday. Please could you save me some cake, preferably in a soggy napkin for when I finish?

RowanMumsnet · 16/06/2017 10:08

YES to:

party dresses
this thread
more mature felines
boogie-ing in pants

NO to:
Invading MNHQ (just because there won't be anyone there)

I'm not picking up my new adopted kittens until next Friday. Can I bring pictures of my old cats instead if I also bring wine?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 15/06/2017 21:48

I'll drink the booze for you, @GeekyWombat - I am just that kind. WinkGrin

londonrach · 15/06/2017 21:33

Nothing in my town and very little near me!!

GeekyWombat · 15/06/2017 19:02

I'm in, although sadly booze free!

AuntieStella · 15/06/2017 18:16

Or perhaps they mean an invasion of MN Towers?

PortiaCastis · 15/06/2017 17:44
