Please can we have a trans topic. The site is over run with trans threads and I'd like to be able to hide the whole lot of them.

Lol, what the op wants is a 'bury my head in the sand' button.

finagler · 23/03/2017 08:17

Ah. Do you mean you have a strong opinion on something but don't like others having the same? Then just hide them yourself, like unfollowing an annoying friend on Facebook.

The boards have loads of threads that I'm not interested in. Just don't click on them Confused

Universitychallenging · 23/03/2017 08:14

It's not a demand. Smile it's merely a question. Given the flak that mnhq were getting last night all over the boards and particularly on a trans thread, ironically, I'm quite sure they have other priorities and this isn't at the top of their list.

Anyone who comes here looking for support is torn to shreds. Look at the hen party thread.

OP posts:
SookiesSocks · 23/03/2017 08:12

Then I am sure mnhq will respond to your demands shortly Uni.

I suppose the upshot is I wont have to converse with you on future trans threads. Win win.

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 23/03/2017 08:10

Agree with beach

Plus if someone came on looking for support Shock

And i wish when someone does post for support that the first people on the thread didnt keep saying how bad it is on here. There are a few people either trans themselves or closely related who have been very helpful

And in my very limited experience even gender critical posters are careful on those types of threads....and if they are not they should be deleted

Universitychallenging · 23/03/2017 08:09

Well I find the constant posting of the same issues on trans threads and the aggressive questioning and patronising tone towards those who have a different viewpoint and the instruction that one needs to go and do xyz and then come back when one has learnt enough to toe the prevailing Party line, and the derailing of threads to trans rather pathetic too Smile so I think we shall just have to agree to disagree.

OP posts:
SookiesSocks · 23/03/2017 08:06

There were 2 when you started this thread less than 24 hours ago. Again not over run. There was also 2 parking threads but guess what.....i didnt open them cos they dont interest me. Grin

I just find the whole "I cant control myself so need mnhq to do it for me" argument a bit pathetic.

Universitychallenging · 23/03/2017 08:00

This may be the only one now, but it wasn't at the time I started it Smile

OP posts:
SookiesSocks · 23/03/2017 07:58

The borads are not over run at all. That is a complete exagguaration Hmm

The only trans thread I can see in the active list is yours Uni. Not exactly over run now is it?

Beachcomber · 23/03/2017 07:58

And I think it would be jolly rude to people who transgender to create an "let's talk about the trans" topic.

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 23/03/2017 07:54

I think the filter would be a good idea university

I think coralling trans into a separate topic is a bad idea

wonder if its possible

Universitychallenging · 23/03/2017 07:49

I'm just fed up with the boards being over run with them. I have never said anything else. There are topics for example like Ebola and petitions and Euref that relevant threads get moved to - what is different about trans?

But actually, I think the filter (which wasn't an idea I had considered) would be a better idea and I'd love to know if that is possible, technically.

OP posts:
SookiesSocks · 23/03/2017 07:37

Sounds to me that you want a topic created because you are not terribly interested and some posters disagree with your opinion.

This is the impression I have too.

SookiesSocks · 23/03/2017 07:35

Mil threads can run for 100s and 100s of posts as can parking threads I dont think mnhq want a drop in contributions. Busier threads I am sure are good for business.

What is so difficult about not opening threads though Uni or if you open it read the OP and its of no interest yo uou closing it again?

Beachcomber · 23/03/2017 07:34

It's the same issues rehashed over and over.

In your opinion.

To people who are interested, it is an ongoing controversy which is unfolding before our very eyes and merits discussion.

Sounds to me that you want a topic created because you are not terribly interested and some posters disagree with your opinion.

AuntieStella · 23/03/2017 07:34

I'd like there to be a trans topic.

And I disagree with those people who say that it should only be done at the request of those who would use the topic, because there is precedent (eg Ebola) where it was done because of the volume of threads leading to complaints. And MNHQ moved threads started elsewhere to the topic, so that the expert posters could conveniently see them together.

Bambambini · 23/03/2017 07:24

Trans threads come up because it is more about women and children than transpeople. They are usually started because of a news report - not just to talk about Transpeople.

Just don't open the threads or contribute. I get bored with parking, mil, wedding, breastfeeding. Just ignore.

Universitychallenging · 23/03/2017 07:24

Which is why the filter would be great.

OP posts:
SookiesSocks · 23/03/2017 07:22

*should say pram vs wheelchair.

SookiesSocks · 23/03/2017 07:20

It's the same issues rehashed over and over.

Like the countless mil threads or the parking threads or the pram vs buggy threads then?

ImsorryTommy · 23/03/2017 07:18

It's wouldn't be censoring anything.

Universitychallenging · 23/03/2017 07:18

It's the same issues rehashed over and over.

But. It's up to hq. And I will totally respect their decision.

OP posts:
SookiesSocks · 23/03/2017 07:16

Im

I would like a mil and parking filter but I accept that this forum has many members who enjoy those threads and I am not a big fan of censorship so I just dont read them.
