Please can we have a trans topic. The site is over run with trans threads and I'd like to be able to hide the whole lot of them.

OP posts:
MercyMyJewels · 23/03/2017 10:57

I didn't say you were. You need to read properly.

You are trying to fence off debate because you didn't win it. Dummy back in gob please

CoteDAzur · 23/03/2017 10:57

Mercy didn't say you are TRA. She said you (and I quote) "tried to debate that pro TRA view".

Universitychallenging · 23/03/2017 10:55

I'm not a TRA. People can debate whatever they like. I just don't want to see it.

And I'm still here on the thread. It's rude to talk about people as if they aren't here.

OP posts:
MercyMyJewels · 23/03/2017 10:53

So the OP tried to debate that pro TRA view, was scuppered by debate and now wants the debate hidden. Dummy spitting much?

egosumquisum1 · 23/03/2017 10:49

Like you, you mean

I am sure some people on here recognise regular names on trans threads popping up with their usual comments.

CoteDAzur · 23/03/2017 10:44

ego - "It's impressive to see the familiar posters popping up on them - people certainly are dedicated to getting their message across on MN."

Like you, you mean Hmm

Or did you think nobody knew that it's you, always you, namechanged every few weeks.

Universitychallenging · 23/03/2017 10:13

Im not stopping anyone who wants to have the conversations having them. I just don't want to see them (and I will be hiding threads me not participating in future so I suppose a particular view point has won and meant that I will just not participate. )

OP posts:
Barcoo2 · 23/03/2017 10:09

OP are you going to respond to whosright ?

I used to be like you too, thought of them as women etc. Reading a thread on here about Karen Parker opened my eyes.

Universitychallenging · 23/03/2017 10:04

iPad. Safari. Desktop here too.

Maybe that's part of the issue? That it is easier for some people, with the option to hide at the side of threads without opening Them and with the options you get and then to a different experience using the site / hiding threads?

Does that make sense !

So for example those who have a hide at the side of the list in active don't see what the big issue is, because they just click a hide button and don't have to open the thread, whereas I don't have that option so I have to open the thread to hide it.

OP posts:
BoreOfWhabylon · 23/03/2017 10:01

Am on ipad safari desktop site.

BoreOfWhabylon · 23/03/2017 10:00

How odd! Maybe message MNHQ and ask them why you don't have the same options?

Universitychallenging · 23/03/2017 09:56

Bore that's not the options I get when I go to customise. Screenshot of what I get attached.

Trans topic. Please.
OP posts:
BoreOfWhabylon · 23/03/2017 09:54

Oh, and trans threads on MN changed my view too.

BoreOfWhabylon · 23/03/2017 09:53

There are too many sub-groups already, imo.

Just go to 'customise' and select 'Put "hide" link on Active Conversations? (hide selected threads from Talk), show thread options on mobile:'

Trans topic. Please.
Whosrightsareright · 23/03/2017 08:47

Well I learned something from your contributions on the threads linked OP. Apparently my FtM trans child is transphobic, who knew! Don't worry, it's nothing we haven't been told before as the family of a trans person who doesn't tow the trans activists line. Which is why I have name changed to make this post as the abuse is something we don't need when we have so much on our plate.

Just bear in mind that the average trans person wants these conversations to be had so that together we can work out how to meet the needs of both trans people and females who feel vulnerable, because both deserve to feel safe. A very large proportion of trans people are female bodied after all. They are just much much quieter.

If you think by yelling transphobe at anyone asking questions about how we can get this right for everyone and not just MtF trans you are sticking up for trans people, then you're wrong. You're sticking up for the extremist trans activists that make life hell for the average trans person who just wants to be left alone to live in peace! Thanks for that.

WateryTart · 23/03/2017 08:41

Threads here changed my mind as well. I was happily being a liberal until alerted to the true facts by people here.

SookiesSocks · 23/03/2017 08:41

Trans threads on mn changed my view too.

I was very much "whats the harm, live and let live" but then Jenner won woman of the year and it did nit sit well with me. I started reading the threads on here about it and it totally opened my eyes.

I still have a live and let live view but that should not be at the expense of women and the rights we have fought for.

I dont like being gaslighted and telling me a person with a penis is a women is just that.

Bambambini · 23/03/2017 08:36

Well i changed my view, i used to be you OP. The IOC rulling made me sit up and i started reading stuff from Transwomen and checked out what they are actually saying on trans forums and on Twitter. I realised i had totally misjudged.

egosumquisum1 · 23/03/2017 08:30

Nor is it likely to change anyone's view. Certainly not mine

I think that some people are now gaining the view that late transitioners are autogynephilic and are getting off on all this as fetish. So they may be changing their perception of late transitioners when they see them and interact with them.

SookiesSocks · 23/03/2017 08:29

Anyone who comes here looking for support is torn to shreds. Look at the hen party thread.

Th OP on that thread was ripped to shreds by those who said she should invite her cousin who happens to have a penis to an event that she had already decided was females only.
Her concern for her friend who was sexually abused was dismissed and she was labelled a nasty trans hater for being torn by family ties and her friend.

Universitychallenging · 23/03/2017 08:27

Sparkling Grin and parking and buggys v wheelchairs and mil

Agree that no one is going to get their message across, and that's what is frustrating for both sides of the debate. Nor is it likely to change anyone's view. Certainly not mine.

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 23/03/2017 08:24

I am not sure who anyone is getting their message across to when a lot of posters are hiding the threads as soon as they appear.

Maybe just have one continuing trans thread with the same things being said over and over. Just start a continuation thread every day.

That would also work with BF/FF threads. Grin

Bambambini · 23/03/2017 08:21

who tore the OP to shreds? The OP didn't really want the cousin there but was worried about hurting their feelings and the family fall out for not inviting.

if i remember your POV was to just keep repeating the line that "TW are women" or such. We hesrdvyour point of view - what did you want us to listen and engage about on that view.

Universitychallenging · 23/03/2017 08:20

Not a bury my head in the sand option at all.

I just have a different view to the prevailing one on this site that's all.

OP posts:
egosumquisum1 · 23/03/2017 08:18

Trans threads are very similar - you can play trans bingo just like you can play parking thread bingo, BF vs FF bingo etc.

It's impressive to see the familiar posters popping up on them - people certainly are dedicated to getting their message across on MN.
