Unfortunately, sometimes the app post twice, because the first time it tells you there's a problem and hasn't posted. Ffs Hmm

Owlish · 24/03/2017 21:12

iOS app every time. The website is clunky and I find threads I'm watching hard to follow, I can never find where I'm up to on the list. On the app I can go straight to where I left off, I don't have reset anything and I don't have to faff around waiting for everything to load. Plus I can upload photos straight from my camera roll, which I can't on the website.

I don't like apps - they keep clogging up my phone as when they update they move back from the data card, and the website works fine - except not being able to hide AIBU threads recently.

PinkBuffalo · 24/03/2017 20:24

I use the website. I'm not a fan of any apps, and don't really use apps at all.

dollarstodonuts · 21/03/2017 23:59

I like the app but often have issues logging in if I've logged out. And that fairy ad gives me the rage as I've accidentally tapped it a million times and have resolved to never buy fairy again because I'm rational like that!

MountainDweller · 21/03/2017 23:39

Oh and one other problem with the app - active threads is sometimes not updated and I have to quit the app and reload to refresh.

MountainDweller · 21/03/2017 23:36

I like the app because it's clean looking and loads quickly. I got fed up using the mobile site on my iPad because the pages took for-ev-er to load with all the ads (I now have a newer, bigger, faster iPad so less of a problem). The thing I miss most on the app is the ability to scroll back through the thread when replying, so I can mention previous posters by name (just hit 50 and my memory is going downhill!).

Dontactlikeyouknowme · 18/03/2017 00:35

I use the mobile site on my phone and netbook

Gamtanner · 18/03/2017 00:32

I browse using the mobile site on my phone. I loved the app but it was a huge drain on the battery so I got rid.

RJnomore1 · 18/03/2017 00:22

I use the mobile site I did try the app and didn't like it

ActuallyThatsSUPREMECommander · 18/03/2017 00:19

The TIO on the mobile site gives you a brief preview of the last few posts. So you can see whether they all say "thinking of you hun", or "I agree with SUPREMECommander", or "lol" or "the tax inspector has just come home and he has a gun!".

Saves a huge amount of time in deciding whether you can be arsed to return to the thread or not.

SwedishEdith · 18/03/2017 00:12

Laptop only. Still too paranoid of being spotted reading mn in public so never on my phone.

TimMumsnet · 17/03/2017 23:48

Great, that's all helpful, thanks! FYI, the TIO issue is probably due to app is currently forced to load all the threads you're on from the last few days, so performs really slowly. I'll release a fix with paged threads for that soonish.

Does the website have a way of handling TIO that you prefer?

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 17/03/2017 18:21

2. If you aren't a fan, how come?

I don't know if it's changed, but when I tried it I found I couldn't customise the same way I can customise the mobile site and sticky threads really get on my nerves.

It's also a bit 'clunky'.

DramaAlpaca · 17/03/2017 17:22

Website on laptop mostly.

I have the android app on my phone, but I find it doesn't work that well - specifically, I can't see Threads I'm On which is annoying.

When I MN on my phone I use the mobile version of the website.

WorraLiberty · 17/03/2017 17:17

Website on laptop.

I tend not to use MN or any other sites on my phone.

ActuallyThatsSUPREMECommander · 17/03/2017 16:16

I use mobile site on Safari. I never got on with the app because Threads I'm On is such a PITA.
But recently the mobile site has been forcing me into the app which is really annoying.

cozietoesie · 17/03/2017 16:13

I use the iOS app almost entirely.

TimMumsnet · 17/03/2017 14:35

Warning: unashamed plug

Incase anyone is interested in trying either of the Mumsnet Talk apps, here is the iOS Talk App and the Android Talk App. In 2015 we totally re-wrote the iOS app, and it's significantly better than the previous (disclaimer: I'm Mumsnet's iOS developer), the first version of the Android app was released a few months ago, so has some catching up to do...

We've tried to keep the apps as clean and usable as possible, but we're constantly working on new features, so your feedback is really useful! In particular I'd love to know:

1. What features would you like to see next in the app?
2. If you aren't a fan, how come?

smashedinductionhob · 17/03/2017 12:43

"I only every use the talk bits of MN regardless."

there are other bits?

Desktop version with adblocker here too .... currently showing 7 blocked ads as I type.

WhoKn0wsWhereTheTimeG0es · 17/03/2017 08:51

Mobile on my phone, tried the app years ago and didn't like it. I use desktop on a desktop sometimes but prefer not to as I get sucked into topics I've hidden (most of them) by the trending box.

Chasingsquirrels · 17/03/2017 08:35

Mobile Web version on my phone, if it gets changed to the desktop version for some reason I can't use it and have to change it back.
Desktop version on my ipad. I've never thought about it, this is just the version it loads, I've just changed it to the mobile version as I prefer it using my phone for MN to my ipad.

blueskyinmarch · 17/03/2017 08:33

I have it open in my browser on my laptop but I have the app on my phone and iPad. All options covered here.
