Can I read only the op posts?

Is there a setting that will allow me to only read the op response? Or at least highlight their responses?

Grin

Just a question I've been asking since they started playing with things after Jeffreygate. Wink

They've actually played this one badly. They could have had a lovely consultation with posters which would have benefitted them no end. Smile

LemonRedwood · 07/03/2017 20:33

Must be part of some big conspiracy cozie Grin

cozietoesie · 07/03/2017 19:33

MNHQ seem reluctant to discuss this issue at all, Lemon. Wink

Bluntness100 · 06/03/2017 19:12

That's weird, I don't have the customise option either, but the ops posts are highlighted for me in green and mine in lilac. I've only been a member about three months. I don't recall picking those options, i thought it just happened automatically, it's really useful.

cozietoesie · 06/03/2017 19:07

Thanks for that, Lorna.

You said 'At the moment'..... are there plans to reduce the customisation options for all users? Eg - everyone is reduced to the 'little' customisation.

LemonRedwood · 06/03/2017 19:01

Hi @LornaMumsnet

I joined around August/September 2015 and remember choosing to have OP posts highlighted and choosing the purply colour for my own posts in customisation. Why was full customisation removed for some members who are not new, but haven't been around ages either?

LornaMumsnet · 06/03/2017 11:38

Hi, all!

At the moment, full customisation options are for members who have been around for quite a while. Really sorry about this.

gamerchick · 06/03/2017 10:42

I'm curious as well. Maybe they didn't know only some people have more access than others.

cozietoesie · 06/03/2017 10:34

Any comment MNHQ? Smile

FagAshMIL · 06/03/2017 07:19

I don't have that option despite being here for years Confused

LemonRedwood · 06/03/2017 07:07

Hi @ToniMumsnet

These are the only options I have when I follow your instructions.

Can I read only the op posts?
VikingVolva · 06/03/2017 07:03

Saw this, and thought of this thread

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/2864935-Skip-to-posts-by-OP

which is a request for a new feature.

WhoKn0wsWhereTheTimeG0es · 06/03/2017 06:58

I use the mobile version on an Iphone so it might be different, but if I put all or part of the OP's name in the search box at the top of the page it gives the options of sesrch this page or search Google. Choose search this page and it highlights the first mention with an arrow to go to the next so you can click through them easily. Ctrl-F on a laptop does the same.

ChippyDucks · 06/03/2017 06:53

I've just been reading a thread on the android app where most of the OPs posts are in a particular colour, but a few are just purple and blend in with all the replies. Because it's only the OPs name that's a different colour makes it difficult enough when scrolling quickly, but I've no idea why some OP posts would be one colour and others different.

cozietoesie · 05/03/2017 14:11

Hi Toni. Thanks for that.

Does it mean that everyone is to have access to the full range of Customise options? Smile

OnHold · 05/03/2017 14:10

The option to highlight OPs posts iin customise is not available if you have a fairly recent account.

The OPs posts should automatically be highlighted, however that doesn't always happen and there doesn't to be seem much you can do about it except to start a new account and see if that helps.

ToniMumsnet · 05/03/2017 14:03

Hi Desperatedaisy,

If you go to the top of any thread you'll see a button next to the headline 'Talk' that has a downward facing arrow on it.
If you click on that button you'll see a list of options including one called 'Customise'. Click on that button and you'll get various options, including one called 'Talk options' which is about halfway down the page.
You can choose whatever options you like. The 4th option is "Highlight posts by thread author:" You can pick a colour for this in the dropdown.

Hope that helps.

gamerchick · 05/03/2017 13:42

yeah I figured it was probably something like that after I last posted. It's such a useful feature though, especially for massive threads. I don't understand why it would be limited for newer accounts.

BackforGood · 05/03/2017 13:14

I've reported the thread to MNHQ so hopefully some techy person will be able to help you out Smile

Desperatedaisy · 05/03/2017 02:15

cosietoesie is right, my options are limited, I created my account about a year and a half ago maybe 2 years.
I am on android but cant log into the app as it says my password is wrong, even though I log in on the website daily and know it isnt.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 05/03/2017 01:17

PS - the iOS app automatically puts the OP's posts in a different colour so you could always try that if you have the option.

(I'm afraid that I don't use the Android app so don't know what facilities it has.)

cozietoesie · 05/03/2017 01:13

gamer

If the OP has a newer account, she may have been given a 'little' Customise which has fewer options on it. Those people with older accounts seem to have been grandfathered in on the 'big' Customise. ( The changes happened, if I recall, post Jeffreygate when I think - also - a number of people re-registered rather than just name changing.)

BackforGood · 04/03/2017 23:52

TALK at top of all threads.

Customise

4th line down says 'highlight OPs posts in...' and there is a drop down so you can choose your colour

gamerchick · 04/03/2017 23:48

It should look like this?

Can I read only the op posts?
Primaryteach87 · 04/03/2017 23:41

I would like this option too! :"so frustrating to wade through 10's of posts to get an OPs update
