SLOW! It's so fucking slow now, I can't even get long threads to load any more

Let alone post on them.

It's beyond a joke now, vast swathes of MN are now totally inaccessible to me. Can we PLEASE sort this out?

iPhone 6 Plus. Safari. Pages not loading or half loading or getting stuck. Not able to scroll. Been happening over last two or three days. Driving me mad.

Becca19962014 · 02/03/2017 10:51

Thanks lorna for the acknowledgement.

Hello Brew

Just wanted to post and let you all know that even though we're not replying regularly, we are looking into this and taking it very seriously.

Keep posting, keep letting us know what you're using and how it's affecting you - we're monitoring this thread hard.

We seriously appreciate all the time you're taking to help us figure this out and, as ever, will do our best to sort this. Please do hang in there (a big ask when the site is playing up, I know).

WhisperedLoudest · 02/03/2017 10:13

Same for last few days whilst using safari on iPhone.

It's not specific to any particular threads and it's only intermittent but it's driving me to distraction

ShutTheFridgeUp · 02/03/2017 10:10

I get a lot of this. The only way to resolve it is to close the browser and reopen it a few times

iPhone 7, ios10, access from safari. The site is completely unusable. Every post is just hanging on load. Been like this for several days. All other websites and apps work fine so I know it's not from my end.

MichelleFowler · 02/03/2017 09:53

Same for me, regardless of posts per page settings. Cannot use the site at all - freezing, blank pages etc.

iPhone 6, mobile site on safari. It is definitely a general tech issue rather than anything to do with user settings or devices.

Bluntness100 · 02/03/2017 09:50

Something is very wrong with this site. I've also had major problems the last two days, it just basically freezes or won't load. All other sites are fine, it's specific to mumsnet. It's basically unusable a times.

lornathewizzard · 02/03/2017 09:46

Also hideously slow here, on chrome and safari (iPhone se). Currently on the app but it kills my battery

ShutTheFridgeUp · 02/03/2017 09:44

Having the same issues as above. iPhone, safari, mobile site.
Haven't reduced the number of posts per page as it happens on ANY thread whether it only has 1 post or 500. Also, what's the point of giving the option of 1000 per page if you're not actually able to support it?

Penfold007 · 02/03/2017 09:35

iPad/Safari freezing, not loading or scrolling every couple of posts

Secretspillernamechange · 02/03/2017 09:31

Mine froze 5 times in about 10 mins earlier (iPhone6, safari, mobile site - about 0800). The freezing has definitely been worse this week than I've known it before.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 02/03/2017 09:30

batteries

I said to dh last night "pick a window this fucking ipad is going through it"

I think he is concerned for the house...and his personal safety Blush

Cantchooseaname · 02/03/2017 09:26

It's horrible. iPhone 6, safari, 25 posts per page. Freezes, won't scroll, won't load. Bluegh.

tootiredtothink · 02/03/2017 09:08

site keeps crashing for me too. Won't load the threads I'm watching without freezing (and these are threads that are no where near reaching 1000 posts.

I'm on iPhone and iPad on safari. I don't use the app, mobile site on phone and normal on iPad.

I'm happy for things to take slightly longer to load with my 1000 pages I'm on. However, freezing every time surely isn't the norm for it and shows there's a fault somewhere ?

I'll load the add blocker as suggested above.

I wonder if the fact that anytime anyone seems to write such things as Amazon, Superdrug etc they are converted into clickable links is adding to the problem ?

AuntieStella · 02/03/2017 08:55

Problems here too.

Pages not loading properly (getting maybe the top, then it whites out) and pages freezing

iPad, Safari, desktop site

Yesterday and today there have been long times when MN is unusable (not even sure if this will post as it's bad again this morning)

No other sites I use affected

Suzysuz · 02/03/2017 08:34

Me too - iPhone mobile, crashes/freezes/gets stuck whether through safari or google.

Batteriesallgone · 02/03/2017 08:33

I won't leave. I will just hang around and get frustrated Grin

However it does have a knock on effect I believe - I'm very reluctant to click on add links now because I think of mumsnet as being slow so will that affect the connection? I clicked on the links on the 'swears by' email this morning then kicked myself because I thought shit now safari will crash.

It didn't, but my first thought on seeing an advert link shouldn't be 'better not risk it' (and I speak as someone who has actually bought stuff as a result of mumsnet links)

LePimpernelScarlette · 02/03/2017 08:28

I am currently using the app (but prefer the website) because it just won't download at all onto my iPad. It will download five posts and then freeze up with white space. Totally useless. I only ever have 25 posts on the page, I have made sure my iPad is up to date in its settings etc. This has been a problem for about a week but really bad in the last three days.

Thinkingblonde · 02/03/2017 08:22

iPhone, mobile site, Safari here. Pages only half load, it does it on threads, short threads.
It appears to be a Mumsnet server problem because other websites load perfectly well.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 02/03/2017 08:18

Agree with everyone else

The last two days mumsnet has been vitually unusable

Its just as bad today

On ipad uploaded the newest version yesterday which is a complete pain as everything changes just so i can get mumsnet to work

Every other website i am using as fine

Its your website that is the problem

I love mumsnet but if this continues i will have to leave, i dont have the patience to wait for half an hour to check threads i am on

ChutesTooNarrow · 02/03/2017 08:11

Browse the main website on safari on iPad. Same as others, slow and pages only half load. It was awful last night, I gave up.

RedBugMug · 02/03/2017 08:04

very slow here on safari/ipad.
weirdly fine on phone Confused

Cornettoninja · 02/03/2017 07:27

Just came back to confirm that tech advice to reduce the posts viewable didn't work.

I first posted yesterday afternoon and have tried intermittently to get back to this thread - only just managed this morning!

Sorry MNHQ but this is awful and if history has anything to add it's going to be linked to advertising somehow.

I read the skim links thread the other day, is there any chance it's linked to that? I'm sure I saw that it had been set to a certain level (not too intrusive), any chance it's not compatible with iPhones and just too much going on in the background?

Incidentally (this could be completely unrelated) but I've noticed my battery draining much faster the last couple of days. I have a lot running on my phone admittedly but nothing more than usual.

Batteriesallgone · 02/03/2017 06:17

Last night mumsnet wouldn't work at all for me between 6-9:30pm (and then I went to bed) on my iPhone/safari

Couldn't even load the front page or threads I'm on
