Can you change back to a previous username?

I NCd for a particular thread a while ago but when I tried to revert back to it was told that that username was already in use.

Is it possible to go back or once you've changed names that's it?

Hi catsnickedallmypens, excuse us barging in - just wondered if this is still an issue?
