How about a campaign where the users get MNHQ staff to take diversity training?

MNHQ themselves have displayed ignorance (at best) over the last few months and prejudice / discrimination at worst when dealing with certain situations.
For example Justine, the sites owner herself over the last few days has made some very ignorant and damaging comments about diabetes.
We have seen the same with many times with Racism too as well as low level disablism.

Unless you are white, middle class and able bodied HQ isn't a nice place to be.

Post here if you would like this to take place. HQ need training and they need it fast.

This user doesn't think MNHQ need any diversity training.

Saucery · 04/11/2016 08:28

Exactly, 0100001. I don't go on 4Chan because I don't like it. I find Reddit confusing to navigate so rarely visit.
There is nothing different about MN. If it's not for you then leave. By all means suggest improvements but some of the things said about MNHQers in the past few weeks have been dreadful.

BubbleGumBubble · 04/11/2016 07:41

Has justine posted about murdering puppies again? Tut tut.

Or did she post an opinion that some people agreed with and some didnt?
Happens every 5 minutes on mn I cannot understand all the knicker twisting and frothing over it.

Justine and her team are not borgs with a hive mind and why people expect them to be is beyond me. They are human and have their own thoughts and opinions.
As others have said leave the site if you are unhappy before you drown in your own froth.

You need to go to real internet forums if you think MN is baaad.

Reddit. 4chan? 9gag? They would eat you all alive.

Annie or s/he posted it 10 hours ago and is no longer sat at the computer?

MistressMerryWeather · 03/11/2016 23:14

Oh, apologies Bishop they did post.

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 03/11/2016 23:10

The OP feels so strongly about this mandatory training that she abandoned her thread. Obviously, she is very invested. Hmm

OhTheRoses · 03/11/2016 23:07

I think everyone makes mistakes and should be allowed to move on. I find MNet on the whole to be inclusive, sometimes too PC and a bit leftie. It's still a zillion times better than Netmums.

crashdoll · 03/11/2016 23:04

The trouble is, that there is not a concencus on less obvious disablism. Some people with disabilities disagree with other people with disabilities for example; the way people who have an ASC or ASD wish to describe themselves.

LouisvilleLlama · 03/11/2016 23:00

Why should MN dignify this with a response? It's ludicris

MistressMerryWeather · 03/11/2016 22:59

Do you mean the 'HQ are awesome' thread being the love sesh, Bishop?

I don't think HQ posted on that.

Queenbean · 03/11/2016 22:54

That was my question Manu, not putting words in your mouth

Anyway, I'm going to bed so nice to debate and hope this all gets resolved Flowers

Manumission · 03/11/2016 22:53

Which thread bishop?

Manumission · 03/11/2016 22:53

'Fine detail' isn't the opposite of 'severe examples' 😐

Stop putting (odd) words in mouth.

BishopBrennansArse · 03/11/2016 22:52

"So you think that MNHQ let severely racist and disablist posts stand without deleting them? I don't think that's true at all"

They have tonight, despite more than a few reports. I know they're about as they're posting on the major love in sesh on aibu (hence my yabu post)

Queenbean · 03/11/2016 22:47

This sentence:

"I didn't think it was a thread about fine points at all."

So you think that it's a thread about bigger issues? Ie severely disablist comments that are left to stand?

Manumission · 03/11/2016 22:45

So you think that MNHQ let severely racist and disablist posts stand without deleting them?

Erm no.

What inspired you to attribute that to me?

MaddyHatter · 03/11/2016 22:44

No queen, but there were occasions it had to be explained to them WHY it was disablist before it was deleted.

OR.. threads were left to stand by one HQer as 'educational' then another came along and deleted it with a 'whoops' apology.

Its that kind of thing that we're talking about.. some standard training might nip those kind of things in the bud.

No one wants cookie-cutter Hq'ers, but it would be nice if they were at least singing from the same hymn sheet.

Backingvocals · 03/11/2016 22:32

Nitty gritty in itself isn't acceptable.

Just saying Wink

BiscuitMillionaire · 03/11/2016 22:31

surely it can't be a bad thing if they understand the nitty gritty of what is and isn't acceptable?
Who exactly decides what 'is and isn't acceptable'?

Yes, send them all off to receive Diversity Training, they must be re-educated in how we must all think. No-one must be allowed to deviate from this. Anyone who questions the group think must be shunned.

Queenbean · 03/11/2016 22:28

So you think that MNHQ let severely racist and disablist posts stand without deleting them? I don't think that's true at all

Manumission · 03/11/2016 22:25

I didn't think it was a thread about fine points at all.

Queenbean · 03/11/2016 22:23

Well it all depends on the context doesn't it. As I say, we are arguing on the finer points of language so if the argument was entirely based around opinions of use of words such as "beyond the pale" then I imagine you'd get exactly the same types of responses, yes
