Shiny new thread.

Hopefully won't get derailed.

Let's be honest here, this was meant to be about disablism but just turned into a TAAT. Surprise, surprise!

Yes I should have deregged when leaving last time.

At least now Rebecca has come out and said they don't see the disablism we all saw.

I suspected we were banging heads against brick wall but since its confirmed, life will be better without here.

No wise words shall be coming from me here, have requested deletion.

I wish you all the best..the one thing that makes me sad is not being able to support people just starting on the road I'm further down.

Take care.

It would be good if this could be kept on topic because it's going to get deleted otherwise at a TAAT.

It's a shame to leave when there is so much more to MN than the shit that goes on in AIBU. I blocked it for a long period of time.

FlouncingIntoAutumn · 18/10/2016 21:55

Oh Fanjo you have to look after yourself and own mental health.

I became flouncy because I got so frustrated I flounced and then cried for best part of a night day and realised for all the frustration and bad stuff, I found/ find a lot of solidarity in the boards here.

I haven't been on the last few of these threads because real life stress levels have been a bit high. My previously behaviourally stable Autistic DS has hit teenage hormones and has developed a violent streak (only when at home with me fortunately at present) not seen since he was a tot. He's bigger than me so its a whole knew challenge. My youngest, DD (5), is undergoing diagnosis. Fortunately DS2 has discovered pokemon go and is in a happy visiting virtual gyms and pokestops bubble!

I hope we still get to hear your wise words. You're such an elloquent poster and I'd love to have your flare for getting to the point rather than having paragraphs of waffle.

Best wishes to you, and your sanity moving forwards.

From the other thread

Rebecca mumsnet.

The vast majority of any challenging youngsters who live in the home that is proposed will have a disability of some kind.

Read the thread with that in mind and the disablist attitudes shine through

Can you really not see that?
Yes, we totally can. However, the OP was asking what others would do. There was no mention of disabilities. Yes, as a society we should be more understanding and considerate but the OP's immediate consideration is for herself and her DC, as is the case with most of us and she can ask the question.

Really, we want mumsnet to be a place where you are allowed freedom of speech, where others can question each other and support one another through life's trickier twists and turns - no matter what they may be.

No one here has been disablist. Perhaps folks could have considered wider issues too and that's something we strive for but the truth is that not everyone does right now and every issue is not about people with disabilities, although we do agree that everyone should be considered and valued as part of society. Mumsnet cannot change the world, as much as we'd like to, but we can all do our bit, ideally without personally attacking and shouting at one another. We can help to sow seeds but attitudes will not change overnight and the OP started a valid discussion.

She came here (sorry OP to talk about you as if you aren't here) for advice and support, which is actually what MN is all about.

Fuck me. I am speechless.
