Shiny new thread.

Hopefully won't get derailed.

OP posts:
Mozfan1 · 19/10/2016 12:10

This is so fucked

Same posters, same bullshit

teacup you're so right

Oooohhhhh my nerves

Ausernotanumber · 19/10/2016 12:10

Of course I would. But some are more equal than others here.

teacupwithstripes · 19/10/2016 12:08

Pure nasty and spiteful and dismissive and silencing and belittling. But allowed. Of course.

For some, if you did it you'd be in trouble and your support network would be cut off.

teacupwithstripes · 19/10/2016 12:08

I'm dereging too now. Fuck it.

Ausernotanumber · 19/10/2016 12:07

Now I'm a three hanky tear jerker. But that won't be deleted as a personal attack of course.

Pure nasty and spiteful and dismissive and silencing and belittling.

But allowed. Of course.

teacupwithstripes · 19/10/2016 12:07

Give them enough rope to hang themselves

Rope, they will skip happily with it while we get abused for not making it long enough for their liking.

Mozfan1 · 19/10/2016 12:07

Sorry bishop I should clarify; it's a select few of long term posters who pop up regularly who are allowed to get away with this and often just shut anybody down that doesn't agree with them.

IamSwitzerland · 19/10/2016 12:06

baton passing would on ly work with HQ's support

Mozfan1 · 19/10/2016 12:06

I think we should stay off that thread now. Give them enough rope to hang themselves; they keep attacking us, just let them do it.

teacupwithstripes · 19/10/2016 12:05

some form of personal protection where we pass the baton to one another when things start getting personal to limit any individual's load.

Then it'll be ganging up, or SN bregade, or accused to group tactics... This type of thing only works of the majority, which makes it okay apparently, when minorities do it they get fucked.

BishopBrennansArse · 19/10/2016 12:04

Moz not quite. I've been here a decade, but because I'm from the disabled community I'm dismissed.

OP posts:
teacupwithstripes · 19/10/2016 12:03

Support for some, Lion's den for others?

Does the support depend on the size of the minority group and their ability to express themselves?

FlouncingIntoAutumn · 19/10/2016 12:02

Only a battle has been lost. Some wound licking is needed and I fear that some are more wounded and more emotionally exhausted by this than others. To those who are, take stock SadCakeBrew. Breathe deep and then plan where you want to go next.

I'm sad to see anyone go. I think there are many many fab posters here and I love having my thoughts challenged and learning about different peoples lives. I did Flounce (after 10 years) and deregged. I truly feel that the biggest loser was myself. My new name is to keep reminding me.

I don't have a massive life outside of my DC and mumsnet. As with many of us who are directly affected by disability, it can be quite socially isolating and Mumsnet is my outlet.

I'm sad that some posts from all sides have been so directly personal. Insulting individuals rather than challenging attitudes. Emotions have run so high that the real message we collectively want to convey has got a bit diluted in the cross fire.

I really hope we can collectively put heads together and plan some sort of structured approach forwards that includes some form of personal protection where we pass the baton to one another when things start getting personal to limit any individual's load.

teacupwithstripes · 19/10/2016 12:01

What have you done HQ?

I don't know what to say i really don't.

Perhaps you can ban or drive away another advocate who stand up for us, that'll make things easier for you.

Ausernotanumber · 19/10/2016 12:00

And now I'm obsessed.

teacupwithstripes · 19/10/2016 11:58

the truth is that not everyone does right now and every issue is not about people with disabilities

THE OPENING SENTENCE SAID YOU UNDERSTAND ITS ABOUT PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES. Then you say this?

Mozfan1 · 19/10/2016 11:58

Auser Flowers

Mozfan1 · 19/10/2016 11:57

Basically certain long term posters get to say what they like and shout everyone else down as their word is gospel. You question it, you get thrown to the dogs. Simple. HQ let it happen all the time.

Ausernotanumber · 19/10/2016 11:57

I can't even see to type now the tears are absolutely blinding me.

HQ. You have no idea of what you have done with that post of Rebecca's and it is now nearly 12 noon and you clearly do not care. That is the official stance.

It's a joke.

teacupwithstripes · 19/10/2016 11:57

Ausernotanumber Flowers

I'm speechless, what are HQ playing at.... This is a support site where is the support here?

teacupwithstripes · 19/10/2016 11:55

Rebecca mumsnet. the OP was asking what others would do. There was no mention of disabilities. Yes, as a society we should be more understanding and considerate but the OP's immediate consideration is for herself and her DC, as is the case with most of us and she can ask the question.

Really, we want mumsnet to be a place where you are allowed freedom of speech, where others can question each other and support one another through life's trickier twists and turns - no matter what they may be.

No one here has been disablist. Perhaps folks could have considered wider issues too and that's something we strive for but the truth is that not everyone does right now and every issue is not about people with disabilities, although we do agree that everyone should be considered and valued as part of society. Mumsnet cannot change the world, as much as we'd like to, but we can all do our bit, ideally without personally attacking and shouting at one another. We can help to sow seeds but attitudes will not change overnight and the OP started a valid discussion.

She came here (sorry OP to talk about you as if you aren't here) for advice and support, which is actually what MN is all about.

Fucking hell, I have no words. Do you realize how much harm you are doing?

Ausernotanumber · 19/10/2016 11:53

The lasts posts on that thread have me in floods. I've been accused of all sorts now and HQ are letting it go on.

We are completely unprotected here.

The guest post is a fucking joke.

Disablism is everywhere on mumsnet. In fact Attacks on all kinds of minority groups are out of control and MNHQ are overwhelmed by it, some staff understand what discrimination is and try to tackle it, other staff inadequately ignore it, lie about it or pretend it isn't happening. It goes way beyond the threads you are talking about.

Mozfan1 · 19/10/2016 11:45

I have a feeling HQ are planning a response. The silence is deafening; I think there will be a 'blanket' message of some kind- we will have to either like it or lump it. I'm too worn out for this shit.

Manicmonkey · 19/10/2016 11:42

I'm dereging too HQ, I can't be in a place like this.

Why was it that questioning validity of a miscarriage as an excuse got someone banned... while those that question the validity of a diagnoses of communication disorder as an excuse (in a thread about containing disabled posters) are still actively posting their goady as fuck shit. Surely they should be treated equally?
Of course they are not, Because in your eyes disability, questioning disability and dismissing disability is lesser.

You need to have a good look at yourselves and understand why people aren't standing for this any more.
