I am still Spartacus

Seems timely. Sadly still required.

I am Oscar, and I remain Spartacus. Really cannot be arsed to C&P or restate my position.... I shouldn't need to have to state the need for language to reflect reality in the first place.....

(Belated shout-out to seek for brilliantly using the Spartacus analogy in the first place!)

I'm still Spartacus.
Happy to post on threads like this as many times as it takes to ensure there's always an active thread highlighting what is going on.

OscarDeLaYenta · 01/09/2016 21:19

Paris Lees is a journalist. He has nice hair.
I have seen Danielle Muscato's FB page. He still has his beard.
Alex Drummond in on the board at Stonewall. He uses eyeliner on his eyes.
Anna Lee stood for office at NUS. He did not win and his campaign was not successful.

These sentences are meaningful and communicate reality.

Any wish that these individuals may have for me to incorrectly call them 'she' (and surely this is actually misgendering????) is irrelevant to language use. I mean none of them harm, but I shall not lie. I further intend no distress to MTT who may be reading this, nor to 'the parents of adults who have transitioned or may be transitioning (WTF MNHQ?!?!?) but if distress is felt and feelings are hurt by reading truthful sentences, then the problem is for those who feel hurt to work out how to better manage their feelings, not for those who speak the truth to lie.

People do not have a right not to be hurt by someone accurately describing reality. People do have a right not to have a lie continually inflicted upon them as the New Truth that they must accept and agree with.

That other thread has made my really quite grumpy.

I am still StatisticallySpartacus

Namechangetoavoidlinksearches · 01/09/2016 21:11

I am Spartacus.

I really struggle with stuff like this: m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1825468657682090&id=1810980895797533

Legitimate concerns about minority groups being portrayed by non minorities. Concerns about the murders of trans sex workers. All good discussions to have.

But why frame the issues in such awful terms? Straight men are attracted to trans so they make more popular sex workers? Is that supposed to be a good thing? Why is it the belief that transwomen are men which leads to death rather than general disgusting attitudes towards homosexuality, femininity and prostitutes?

It also smacks of getting hysterical over every issue to the same degree. It actually takes away the impact of the serious issues affecting trans people of every issue makes people cry and directly leads to murder.

That entire Facebook page reads like a bad satire.

OscarDeLaYenta · 01/09/2016 21:04

Exactly Wooster. Is this partly what MN is hoping - that we'll get worn down with frankly the tedium of having to continually restate the same bloody point, and it will all fizzle out?

No. I'll keep going. If I am banned, so be it. I will not lie in order to 'be nice'.

Delurking.
Also Spartacus.

TriniRedVelvet · 01/09/2016 20:53

I remain Spartacus.

Spartacus · 01/09/2016 20:52

Well, kinda goes without saying really, but I am still Spartacus.

MrsWooster · 01/09/2016 20:51

I saw this and thought 'what is the point; I said it already?' Then realised that it needs restating until it is understood that this is not anti trans people, it is about the FACT of biology. Gender may be a continuum but sex is not. I am a woman and that is biology and you will NOT take that absolute truth away with a cis or any other 'qualifying' label.

BaronessEllaSaturday · 01/09/2016 20:51

I am Spartacus. I am not cis but I am a woman. I am not cis as I do not accept the gender role assigned to me by my biology.

smarterthanhim · 01/09/2016 20:51

Still Sparticus here too. Woman is not a feeling. No one is in the wrong body. Kids should not be sterilised and mutilated because they are not stereotypes. Gender is a construct.

Sporadicus · 01/09/2016 20:49

Still Spartacus, obv.

I am Nevermind, but I still mind, and I am still Spartacus.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 01/09/2016 20:38

Still very much Spartacus.
I am proud to be part of this group of clear-sighted and clear-thinking women and men who have posted more articulately than I have on these threads - this thoughtful, well-informed, principled approach to parenting is for me one of the things Mumsnet has stood for and why I have always been proud to be part of the Mumsnet community even as we get dismissed as silly mummies.

I am sad that Mumsnet so far does not seem to be standing up clearly to represent the views of the majority of its members as they have done in the past.

I very much hope that MNHQ will give (even) more thought to this, because it's not going away any time soon.

It is vital that we continue to be allowed to define ourselves, based on our experiences, as women. Trans is a valid identity, I have no hatred towards transwomen, but women, actual women, still exist.

timelytess · 01/09/2016 20:26

Seems timely - and so am I. I am timelytess and I am still Spartacus. Nothing you can do will stop me being a woman and nothing men can do will make them into women. I'm sorry. That must hurt some people. But that's how it is. By all means 'present' as a woman - be as comfortable in yourself as you possibly can be - but don't tell me what it is to be a woman because I know and you don't.

peachescreatures · 01/09/2016 20:25

Still Spartacus. Not cis or AFAB. I'm a woman.

I'm also the concerned aunt of a distressed teenager who has been caught up in the trans cult and wants to mutilate her body. She doesn't realise that she is perfect exactly as she is.

Ditto,still Spartacus. Never cis.

WheresMaHairyToe · 01/09/2016 20:17

Yeah, me too.

SpeckledyBanana · 01/09/2016 20:11

Still Spartacus here, too.

BarryMerry · 01/09/2016 20:11

Still Spartacus. Not cis. There is no such thing as a female penis. Gender is a hierarchical invention to keep women subordinate and available to men for reproductive/sexual/caring services.

PlectrumElectrum · 01/09/2016 20:11

I'm still Spartacus too.

NonHypotheticalLurkingParent · 01/09/2016 20:11

I am NonHypotheticalLurkingParent and was compelled to stop lurking after the Mumsnet response on the last thread mentioned hypothetical parents that lurk.

I am, a non lurking, Spartacus

MoreCoffeeNow · 01/09/2016 20:04

Still Spartacus
