I Would Like To Propose A Solution To The Trans Threads Problem

DioneTheDiabolist · 31/08/2016 22:08

Dear MNHQ, I am pissed off with all the Trans threads. I understand that you don't wish to stifle debate/free speech and all that shit, so I propose 4 threads where all trans posts can be hidden go.

A Fuck Trans thread. For posters who hate that people are trans.
A Yay Trans thread. For posters who wish to support trans people.
A Trans Bunfight Club thread. For posters on the other two threads who want to have a bit of a ruck.
And a What MNHQ Have To Say About Trans Threads thread. For, well I think you get my drift.

All other trans posts on the site can be deleted, no other threads can be started and I can enjoy the site more.

"he extra few seconds hiding it. And a few seconds doing the Hmm face."

Few seconds more to roll your eyes, you say? Stop, you'll make me cry.

Will you be OK?

TwentyCups · 31/08/2016 23:52

I meant 'too late' in response to 'don't open it'.
Tbh that's less an issue for me. I'm more bothered when people start arguing/saying inflammatory (but not necessarily report worthy) stuff on completely random topics - see above what I said about my own thread that ended up with an unpleasant comment on it.

CoteDAzur · 31/08/2016 23:51

Childbirth affects everyone. Health affects everyone. They each have their own topics. That's not the point.

Nobody goes on Childbirth and Health threads saying that their eyes are opened to these issues, that they had no idea about any of it before. In trans threads, there is always someone who says exactly this.

Trans threads of the past couple of years have opened many people's eyes , which is how we just saw nearly 1,000 MNers opposing transactivist agenda on the I Am Spartacus thread.

If you are not interested, just don't click on those threads.

Sparklingbrook · 31/08/2016 23:48

Plus the extra few seconds hiding it. And a few seconds doing the Hmm face.

7Days · 31/08/2016 23:47

I still can't find it in my heart to feel too sorry for people who
1 - spend a second clicking into a thread
2 - spend a second clicking out

Not that much of an ordeal.

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 31/08/2016 23:41

Would also like to see a Trans topic for all the threads to go into. The argument that the trans debate affects all women and therefore should be flagged everywhere for traffic is countered by the fact that Brexit affected everyone but an EU referendum topic now exists.
Thanks.

CoteDAzur · 31/08/2016 23:40

"threads which look like they're not trans related until you open them, it's too late by then."

Too late for what? Does the thread shoot you when you open it?

Surely all you lose is one second before you move on.

leccybill · 31/08/2016 23:38

Topical, you say?
Away from MN, I didn't even know it was a thing. Literally no-one in my real life has ever mentioned it.

Is there a big equivalent trans forum out there- I take it there's not and that's why people have found a home here? Will it pass, do MNHQ think?

MyCatIsSparticus · 31/08/2016 23:37

Grinopening a thread and realising it's not that interesting is hardly that difficult. Seriously you all must have children or jobs or gasp both. You must be able to handle the five seconds of not immediate gratification

Sparklingbrook · 31/08/2016 23:34

A topic would be good so it can all be hidden in one go. But the problem is the 'for traffic' thing I agree. If there was a topic nobody would want to post in it probably. Hmm

PurpleDaisies · 31/08/2016 23:32

I agree that due to the sheer number of threads it would be a good idea to have a trans topic. We've got topics for all sorts of other things-I can't see why it would be a problem.

I thought this was Mumsnet for you know Parents
portia there are lots of non-parents on mumsnet now (myself included).
Mnhq has made it clear we are definitely welcome here. I also don't think that's a good criticism to make because pro/anti trans posters (whether you agree with them or not) could well be parents themselves.

PortiaCastis · 31/08/2016 23:31

Precisely

venusinscorpio · 31/08/2016 23:31

And look, exactly the same people are saying exactly the same not new things as they always do on another trans thread. To whinge on about there being too many trans threads. It would be ironic, but really it's too fucking dull for that.

DioneTheDiabolist · 31/08/2016 23:30

I don't want a Me-net, although that would be fucking awesome.Grin I don't want a Trans-net either, I just want a Mumsnet. That's why I joined.

The problem is there's loads of threads which look like they're not trans related until you open them, it's too late by then.
Or (even worse) threads which don't seem trans related... Until you read up to page 4 by which time it's the usual bunfight.
I started a thread asking opinions on a yoni necklace I purchased recently (incredibly negative opinions but hey ho it'll be here tomorrow! ;) ) Even on that someone came along to post inflammatory trans stuff. I stopped posting on it after that.

TealLove · 31/08/2016 23:30

It's v clear which threads are re. Trans issues. Just don't click or go back surely?

NotMe321 · 31/08/2016 23:27

Yes. It's not like anyone has anything new to say

^

This!

CoteDAzur · 31/08/2016 23:25

If only there were a way to hide threads you don't want to read.

Oh, wait.

7Days · 31/08/2016 23:24

Don't click fgs.

It's topical at the moment. Most threads are clearly titled. Not all, no, before anyone jumps on.

Honestly some people just want Me-net, getting pissed off when other people want to talk about other stuff.

Just don't click! Or click back out! takes you two seconds compared to MNHQ making new sections which will be tumbleweed after a while anyway

PortiaCastis · 31/08/2016 23:21

I'm sick of the whole bloody trans this that and the other
Someone accused me of advocating suicide to stifle debate on Sunday not knowing Im a recovering addict and have attempted suicide myself. Thanks a lot for making me cry
I thought this was Mumsnet fo you know Parents
Give them their own topic so I can hide it.
Pushing an agenda doesn't help anyone !
Thanks for starting this thread

VashtaNerada · 31/08/2016 23:19

Love it! Grin #TeamYayTrans

DioneTheDiabolist · 31/08/2016 23:11

That can be ignored, hidden or posted on.Smile

OP posts:
DioneTheDiabolist · 31/08/2016 23:05

No. No. No. No.

No fucking "For Traffic". No, "oops it cropped up accidentally on this thread"[fake blush bullshit].

Just 4 threads. That's all that's needed because let's face it, it's the same shit on every trans thread in Active, in FWR, in AIBU, in Chat and in Site Stuff. BUT IT CAN ALL GO INTO 4 FUCKING THREADS.

OP posts:
AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 31/08/2016 22:42

Trans issues needs its own topic! It has been mentioned many times before but the request is always ignored.

I am sick to the back teeth of trans issues sprouting up everyone and taking over active conversations. Give it its/his/hers own topic so that those of us who couldn't care less can hide the topic and go back to enjoying MN.

That being said, there will invariably be threads ins Chat or AIBU "for traffic". Hmm
