I Would Like To Propose A Solution To The Trans Threads Problem

DioneTheDiabolist · 31/08/2016 22:08

Dear MNHQ, I am pissed off with all the Trans threads. I understand that you don't wish to stifle debate/free speech and all that shit, so I propose 4 threads where all trans posts can be hidden go.

A Fuck Trans thread. For posters who hate that people are trans.
A Yay Trans thread. For posters who wish to support trans people.
A Trans Bunfight Club thread. For posters on the other two threads who want to have a bit of a ruck.
And a What MNHQ Have To Say About Trans Threads thread. For, well I think you get my drift.

All other trans posts on the site can be deleted, no other threads can be started and I can enjoy the site more.

Discuss them then, if you're interested. Meanwhile many of us will discuss all the many things we are interested in. Which is what mumsnet is for.

AlpacaLypse · 01/09/2016 09:12

I am not remotely interested in about 90% of threads, and frequently find that a thread is boring after I clicked on it. Hey ho, I just go back to Active and look for another one.

Linda McCartney was a very talented musician, Dione. It's just that Macca liked to obscure her and make her seem all 'helpmeet'.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 01/09/2016 09:10

As predictable as you dismissing everything anyone says as sadly predictable!

IzzyIsBusy · 01/09/2016 09:10

Don't tell us what women's issues we should be discussing, please, Ego

Whoa calm down. I dont think thats whay Ego was suggesting. It was just another topic that affects women. Ego was not dictating just using it as an example.

Ego147 · 01/09/2016 09:10

Don't tell us what women's issues we should be discussing, please, Ego

Well, that was predictable.

I am just surprised that certain issues that are in the news haven't been discussed.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 01/09/2016 09:10

Maybe what we need is a topic that's just for inane stuff, so nobody has to waste a moment looking at a thread and deciding it's not for them?

Sparklingbrook · 01/09/2016 09:09

Depends how you use MN. Some posters want an escape from the important issues of RL and don't really want a heated debate particularly.

But 'lighthearted' seems frowned upon lately.

IzzyIsBusy · 01/09/2016 09:08

such as the gender pay gap after birth?

I am too angry to start a thread on that topic Ego but i would happily join in on a discussion. Smile

Ego147 · 01/09/2016 09:06

That sounds like what I always thought mumsnet was

Look at Chat. Most issues there are inane stuff.
As is AIBU.

I haven't seen any real discussion threads on some of the more recent issues - such as the gender pay gap after birth?

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 01/09/2016 09:05

Maybe we could have an area for important issues affecting women - so people could discuss them. Wouldn't just need to be about trans issues.

That sounds like what I always thought mumsnet was.

Ego147 · 01/09/2016 09:03

Ironically it is the only thing keeping me here at the moment

Well, there's plenty of threads available to discuss other issues affecting women - of which there are many at the moment. I would have hoped you'd take the opportunity to discuss those whilst you're here.

Soubriquet · 01/09/2016 09:00

There should definitely be a trans topic.

Its like whack a mole at the moment

leccybill · 01/09/2016 08:57

Is there a big forum out there dedicated to trans then, or not?

IzzyIsBusy · 01/09/2016 08:52

It is putting me off visiting MN, and it seems to be here to stay so I'll prob visit and post less

And?

IzzyIsBusy · 01/09/2016 08:50

I really cannot see the issue.

You open a thread it is not for you, you close the thread. It has no affect on your day.

I always wonder just how important the OPs of these threads think they are Hmm

Countless threads on here hold no interest for me but i am not self rightous enough to think starting a thread in site stuff will cause mnhq to meet my demands of give them their own topic!

If threads on mn are having such an impact on you maybe it is time for a mn break.

Inertia · 01/09/2016 08:44

Hell's teeth - when did it become compulsory to read every single thread on Mumsnet? There I was, just reading the ones that interested me and avoiding or clicking away from the ones that didn't.

hazeyjane · 01/09/2016 08:42

Ironically it is the only thing keeping me here at the moment!

Sparklingbrook · 01/09/2016 08:41

I think Site Stuff is the Trans Topic. That's where all the new threads seem to be posted now TBF.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 01/09/2016 08:39

The idea that a subject should go away because you personally don't find it interesting .... Jeez if MN worked like that there'd be nothing left. It's s feminist issue and a site issue: it belongs in both places as and when appropriate.

thedogstinks · 01/09/2016 08:19

Diddums

CoteDAzur · 01/09/2016 06:35

"Logically therefore", no less? Smile

They've been going on for years, not months FYI. That is because this is an important, existential question which matters to a lot of women.

Clearly not you lot, but that is why there is a hide button.
