MNHQ - if you are going to contribute your thoughts to the trans debate, can you use a new thread

Ego147 · 29/08/2016 10:31

Because there are people who are part of the debate but have hidden and don't want to contribute to the threads you want to post on.

So please can you post your thoughts on a new thread. It would be open, its own thread and clear to see - rather than hidden in a post on a thread.

And I do appreciate that you have a lot of issues here to think about and you are not going to please everyone. Whatever decision you come to will be 'the wrong one for some'.

Enjoy your Gin and Chocolate at the staff meeting you will inevitably be having about this.

It's all about the Ego

paxillin · 30/08/2016 22:38

Not me-railing, are you, Showmethewaytogohome?

Showmethewaytogohome · 30/08/2016 22:36

Ego

So am I a non woman and non white woman? Still no answer

And I still so not understand what this thread is about tbh - and you haven't answered that either

OlennasWimple · 30/08/2016 22:33

Link to the other thread here

OlennasWimple · 30/08/2016 22:32

I've started a new thread in Site Stuff to discuss the MNHQ response (purely because this one has gone to five pages and has a bit of bun fightery in the middle, which could distract from the issues in hand on the MN statement)

kua · 30/08/2016 22:29

Ego, I am somewhat confused by your OP, I'm guessing you want MNHQ to post a statement on their thoughts... eh ! If you mean a mission statement then that's already clear.

Would you ask any other platform such as this to make a statement on their views? Or is it that this forum is predominately viewed as female that you think they should have to state a view?

Ego147 · 30/08/2016 22:22

And contributes to any trans debate

And I refer you to my previous answers on this thread - which is redundant now as MNHQ have given their response.

Oh - and other answers people have given as well

This thread reminds me of the Labour leadership wrangling.

BeyondASpecialSnowflake · 30/08/2016 22:20

Basically what I just said on the Spartacus thread ego. There are also only 16 posts left til it's full!!

#conspiracy...

Ego147 · 30/08/2016 22:18

I'm disappointed with MNHQ - the response is not what many people seemed to hope for, it's hidden on that thread and it's posted at 10pm whilst katieMNHQ is putting her DC's to bed.

The timing could have been better.

OP posts:
Showmethewaytogohome · 30/08/2016 22:18

So its a thread about using a new thread? Or does it actually have a topic. Oh the topic is just Trans but only for those who have 'hidden' thereby implying a status that they are not 'able' to comment freely on a public forum?

Oh and back to my question - what am I? I think that is a clear question. And contributes to any trans debate

paxillin · 30/08/2016 22:16

I think this particular thread is dead now, since its aim was to get MNHQ to start a new thread re: trans issues and talk guidelines. They clearly didn't do this, so the conversation with HQ will be short since Spartacus is full

Ego147 · 30/08/2016 22:13

Confused - what is this thread about? As Ego hasn't answered my very logical questions on a different thread have no hope it will happen here

Let me help you.

The OP

if you are going to contribute your thoughts to the trans debate, can you use a new thread

I think that's clear.

Is it an echo chamber or actually about something? Oh and am I a non white cis woman (intrigued)

Ego147 · 30/08/2016 22:08

I would have thought you would welcome this

Have you even read the thread?

A response should be a new thread. Not buried at the end of one thread. Because as you say, there are loads of threads

OP posts:
kua · 30/08/2016 22:05

Ego, there are many conversations being had all over MN re the trans topic, I would have thought you would welcome this?

Ego147 · 30/08/2016 22:01

Are you a target paid by HQ so the rest of us don't kill each other and all go for you

I wish...

Ego147 · 30/08/2016 21:47

Gosh. Look what happens when someone dares to comment. They get the typical response.

MN at its finest

Ego147 · 30/08/2016 21:37

I bet that kate knew that when she pressed 'send', there'd be a response....

OP posts:
paxillin · 30/08/2016 21:35

OTOH, if a bell had rung every time something new was being said, it wouldn't have been very noisy. I can see people feel strongly about this, but a great majority appear to feel the same, with the same reasoning and even the same words.

Ego147 · 30/08/2016 21:30

Thanks

And as predicted, it's caused some debate. Maybe MNHQ should start a thread outlining their response.

OP posts:
paxillin · 30/08/2016 21:29

Thanks for flagging it up, Olena.

OlennasWimple · 30/08/2016 21:22

MNHQ have just used the Spartacus post for their response...

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 30/08/2016 09:16

Absolutely ipity, I just wanted to be clear that the aforementioned posts on this thread had been reported by me not ego. I neither know nor care who has reported what on other threads, I seldom do, but will report if I think someone is having a dig for the sake of it. (So I reported a thread about cbb being cliquey the other day as it was just unnecessary). but out of courtesy and because I stand by my actions, I will usually say on a thread 'reporting', many do. I didn't on this occasion as I did not want to influence the moderating decision iyswim: given the fact that I said on the the report "OP is being referred to as a man when they are a post op trans woman" I would take from that that MN guidelines have not^ changed.
I personally think that MN don't suppress compared to other sites and the amount of trans discussion over the last few years and threads that stand reflect that. I also have no problem with the general ethos of "play nice" but can understand why women have a problem with it if they feel that, in itself, is patriarchal.
That said, your post at 12.19 and Pax's post are, ime, true which is why I think ego is damned if she does, damned if she doesn't. If she engages, she is told she is merailing, if she doesn't she's told she is avoiding. Poor bugger cannot win, and if she's who I think, she has been engaging for years and still gets little respect for that, only put downs.
I can agree to disagree without being offended, but when a minority og posters come across as when I want your opinion I'll give it to you, fuck that, I'm out. (
