Hey MNHQ. Would it be possible to have a discussion about how SN issues/threads are handled on the main boards.

I know you are fire fighting a bit and I'm not trying to stir things up.

I just think that there are endless threads that require you to get involved and try to (for the sake of a better word) mediate between pissed of posters with no real experience of SN/disability and pissed off member of the SN/disability community.

I think you try really really hard to be fair and even handed. It's an understandable response but I have growing doubts about it.
There have been half a dozen threads recently where posters I recognise as living with SN/disability issues deal with a continuous stream of posts from any random who pops up on a thread making the same stupid, ill informed or frankly goady post.
It's like swimming through a tidal wave of shit.
Then, as posters get increasingly exasperated by each arriving poster saying 'well I'm not putting my buggy away if my baby is asleep' or 'why can't I use the disabled toilet if it's empty' or 'but people with SN can be violent. I know of stabbing someone and attacks all the time' they get rude and the thread descends into eurrgh.

I'm still reading constant posts where anyone affected by disability is berated if they are angry, the message being 'be nice, be grateful or we don't have to be fair'

It seems to me that the status quo of 'fairness' is simply unfair.
Posters already dealing with immense difficulty shouldn't be forced to defend themselves against every person who turns up and says unpleasant things under the umbrella of debate. You said a long time ago it was not our responsibility to educate but the reality is that, with no palpable support from you guys, we are endlessly having to educate.

I am not pretending to have the answer but is it possible to contemplate methods by which you could actually say to posters saying 'if someone in a wheelchair can't use their space because I'm not putting my buggy away' that their comments are wrong and not in the spirit of the site?

You link to the This Is My Child campaign but the posters who are the problem won't care and won't read it.

I don't know - I just wonder if you could think about this.
Sometimes there are not two sides to a debate because only one side is directly affected, exhausted, distressed and having their lives and their children's lives made harder.

I'm quite happy to be a bolshy cow where needed Wink

MiffleTheIntrovert · 23/06/2016 18:08

I need challenging on my inept use of brackets and grammar there, sorry

MiffleTheIntrovert · 23/06/2016 18:08

You're right bishop (I really want to say DONT CALL ME LEN YOU LITTLE PRICK every time I see you Wink) and the other point is if we all hide threads or stop posting - do MNHQ want MN to look like that? It doesn't really give a great impression of the site if bigoted fuckwits happily post unchallenged).

Mind you, then we are back to the "here to educate" stuff...

BishopBrennansArse · 23/06/2016 17:45

Thing is why should we be the ones to disappear?
We're socially isolated enough.
If being called on not acting correctly is uncomfortable there is a remedy to that...

SauvignonBlanche · 23/06/2016 17:43

It was up far too long. Angry
I just can't imagine the mind that could come up with that.

BeyondTellingEveryoneRealFacts · 23/06/2016 17:34

"Sly" post has now gone, 3 hours and 40 minutes (though i may have missed it being sooner, i did check at about 3.10) after i reported.

NeedACleverNN · 23/06/2016 17:13

Wouldn't*

Why does my phone continuously corrects wouldn't to would! Every fucking time!!

NeedACleverNN · 23/06/2016 17:12

If it would be deleted quicker than my husband seeing cake, j would be tempted to write a post describing an awful scene. Abuse between people similar to the swimming pool story but make one person black and one person white.

See how quick it would be for everyone to tell me I was unreasonable, have MNHQ jump in(very quickly) and say it breeches their policy and they will delete it but then I throw a spanner in the works and say actually it was never a racist post it was a disabled post. We were both white but she was in a wheelchair.

Would be an interesting experiment

(And I just had a seriously bad case of deja vu cos I swear I've posted that post before)!

BeyondTellingEveryoneRealFacts · 23/06/2016 17:11

Three hours...

I dunno, maybe its okay to call (PA too as it was a poster) a disabled person sly for wanting to see if they could get on the bus. I wouldnt have thought it was, but theres no sign of a deletion coming.

MiffleTheIntrovert · 23/06/2016 17:03

I think it's pretty clear MNHQ think they've said all they need to, their latest responses on here and other threads make it clear so I guess it's up to us if we want to continue to use the site on this basis.

I'm not normally a fan of people moaning how shit MN is as I just secretly think "fuck off then, no one is forcing you to use it". Maybe I should take my own advice. I can't imagine it's good for my mental health at the moment. Maybe I should stick to threads about playmobil voting and cats, and leave the disablist fuckwits alone but then it feels like I'm letting the side down. It shouldn't be a decision to make really, should it - I'm not going to challenge disablist fuckwits - surely it should be up to MNHQ to enforce that these people or posts aren't allowed instead of tolerated as "debate".

BeyondTellingEveryoneRealFacts · 23/06/2016 16:15

Over two hours since i reported that post now

Akire · 23/06/2016 15:33

Just noticed the "should people who name change to immediately post anti disablest shit" be outed. In as much as a user name can out you. How depressing.

Of course after second posts it goes off question and full of Agro and hated because you know someone concerned about disability abuse asked for a solution.

Not outing everyone.
Not saying you can't name change.
If you change name and your first post is hatred against section of society or shit storing it may have consequences . I mean what intelligent person would disagree ... Looks at thread sees that's most people!

BeyondTellingEveryoneRealFacts · 23/06/2016 15:02

I reported ronnie over an hour ago. No response yet and post is still there.

BishopBrennansArse · 23/06/2016 14:53

Tbh Ginger you'd have to have at least 20 of them in the space of a week and then absolutely nobody is allowed to feel antagonised about it.

GingerIvy · 23/06/2016 14:47

I'll consider it's partly down to staffing when they leave a thread full of racist comments up for a few days, in the spirit of "educating others" and "fostering debate." Hmm

BeyondTellingEveryoneRealFacts · 23/06/2016 14:23
Angry
BishopBrennansArse · 23/06/2016 14:17

Akire did that. Twats still present.

BishopBrennansArse · 23/06/2016 14:17

Once again disabled people are expected to put up with intolerable provocation, ignored and given excuses.

Then when they get exasperated 'hate' is bandied about.

Why aren't disabled people allowed to get angry?

Akire · 23/06/2016 14:12

Like discourse of thread is disabled people should only use bus if that's only option ever. Because you know normal people might want to use it!

Akire · 23/06/2016 14:05

I know whole point is to see if parents would uphold law and fold. Not as some laugh to see how many new borne you can get wet. Nobody concerned that OP could get wet or indeed anyother person needed space in the route no you of course can get wet. Even if thers room on bus for all of people make tiny bit effort.

Samcro · 23/06/2016 14:01

Akire yes they called a young girl sly!!
wtf I can't report as I get too wound up when mn hq take hours to delete

Akire · 23/06/2016 13:56

Be interesting if all Disabled posters/parents just stopped posting on anti- us threads let all moaning groaning go on see actually how many people not directly effect stand up for us. With us just reporting the bad stuff?

Is it even worth us trying?

BeyondTellingEveryoneRealFacts · 23/06/2016 13:54

I reported that GF

Akire · 23/06/2016 13:52

Even know Wherlchair users has posted her experiment and was refused access to bus because of two pushchairs who might get wet and it's her that gets called selfish because she could got in her mums car which around corner!
