It has never asked before but it is suddenly very insistent.

Thanks folks, apologies once again - we've shown the screenshots to tech, and will let you know what they say.

WellErrr · 31/05/2016 21:55

shunshine · 31/05/2016 21:45

Why does mumsnet.com suddenly want to use my device's location?
YouSay · 31/05/2016 13:30

I got it too. I allowed my location.

IveAlreadyPaid · 31/05/2016 13:28

Mine too. Windows phone here. I clicked no.

FoxesSitOnBoxes · 31/05/2016 13:25

Me toooo! Is someone trying to track us down?

AgingJuvenileBinkyHuckaback · 31/05/2016 11:27

Me too, just a standard Safari pop up like when Google Maps or whatever wants to know my location.

Sparklingbrook · 31/05/2016 11:24

I am getting it too.

toadflax · 31/05/2016 11:18

Yes, I was getting it on my iphone too, generic Iphone message which you get with a lot of websites. Was doing it about an hour ago and then stopped.

toadflax · 31/05/2016 11:15

Stopped here too. Phew.

OP posts:
ShowOfHands · 31/05/2016 11:13

It's stopped. Was just a box saying MN wants to use your location. Then an option to allow or block. Generic Android pop up.

SnuffleGruntSnorter · 31/05/2016 11:12

Yes, it looked like when any app wants to know your location. I accidentally clicked yes - brain is slower than thumb today.

Room101isWhereIUsedToLive · 31/05/2016 11:10

It was doing it to me too but I clicked no and ticked remember for this site and now its stopped.

PotteringAlong · 31/05/2016 11:08

Mine was a generic iPhone one too

PotteringAlong · 31/05/2016 11:08

I clicked yes in the hope that mnhq were about to parachute in commando style for a cup of tea. So far, no luck!

Tiggeryoubastard · 31/05/2016 11:05

^ same here. As far as I can see, it's identical to the one that normally pops up on iPhones.

KatherineMumsnet · 31/05/2016 11:03

Hi all,

So sorry about this - tech have asked us for screenshots, so we can determine who it's coming from. If it pops up again, could someone take a screenshot for us?

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 31/05/2016 10:57

It's the ad at the top of the screen. I emailed HQ but no reply yet.

PseudoBadger · 31/05/2016 10:56

Very annoying

MeMySonAndl · 31/05/2016 10:50

Yes, why do they want to know (irrelevant question, really as most sites can do this through the use of cookies)

toadflax · 31/05/2016 10:48

There should be a WHY DO YOU WANT TO KNOW? button.
