When are they going? It's 'after Christmas' and a bit more now. Smile

Mardy

Hello lovely. Thought I hadn't seen you for ages. I don't come here much anymore either.

Just thought I'd add my support for Sparks and non-necessary emoticons.

And to say PLEASE get rid of trending. PLEASE.

IamtheZombie · 01/02/2016 23:20

Zombie doesn't like them either, Sparkling.

Sparklingbrook · 01/02/2016 23:17

I thought it was down to me not having the right gadget rather than the poster. Usually on my laptop.

Yes, when I first saw the turd I thought it was hilarious but the novelty soon wears off. Teen Facebook stuff.

I see them ok but I'm never quite sure what some of the expressions mean. You know where you are with a Hmm or a Confused. I need to get my old-gimmer varifocals sorted out.

AlpacaLypse · 01/02/2016 23:15

re non MN emojis... some are funny, eg the pyramidal dog turd. Which I will admit made me laff the first time I saw, it, and possibly the second too, but is now EXTREMELY BORING. But a lot of them turn up as little boxes that make no sense at all, I assume it depends on the poster's platform.

Sparklingbrook · 01/02/2016 23:12

Alpaca it's a good point. A sentence followed by a tiny square. Could mean anything.

MardyBra · 01/02/2016 23:12

Yep. I hate trending.

Tbh MN is no longer my "go to" place, which is a shame as I used to bloody love here and post almost as much as you do sparkling. Hey ho.

AlpacaLypse · 01/02/2016 23:11

Tech have you found a weird and wonderful way of making the really enormous emojis be a nice in-line sensible size? Or am I getting confused about the times I've been toggling between here and FB again?

It's still annoying when the entire point of a post is possibly being changed by what sort of emoji she/he has put immediately after. The one that's come up as an empty small black box. No idea if it's a grin or tears or hysterical fury or just a faint smile.

Sparklingbrook · 01/02/2016 23:10

I know they will stay and we will have to lump it. Same as when Most Active inexplicably turned into 'Trending' and everyone objected to that too but got told it was tough.

I think it's just the fact that we were asked what we thought and told 'we can get rid of them' but now suddenly that's not possible.

Plus (broken record) a lot of us see a load of tiny squares anyway and not the emojis.

Must admit I hated seeing them in thread titles, but hadn't noticed any recently. I'll be on the lookout now!

MardyBra · 01/02/2016 23:03

The majority of posters on that thread didn't want them iirc.

Although there was a sizeable group of huns that did like them.

Sparklingbrook · 01/02/2016 23:03

I think they have come back again recently. And in thread titles. Messing the place up.

OP posts:
UnGoogleable · 01/02/2016 23:02

After the initial flurry of excitement where they were everywhere, I've hardly noticed them at all lately.

I think it's a non-issue.

Plus, I like the smiling poo emoji!

Sparklingbrook · 01/02/2016 22:58

12 pages of debate. Why was our opinion asked for? Sad

It'll be fucking tickers next.

MardyBra · 01/02/2016 22:54

Maybe we've stopped complaining because we did complain and MNHQ ignored the complaints. So we feel there is no point in complaining.

Hi there Sparklingbrook,

We're afraid there are no imminent plans to get shot of the non-MN emojis. Sad

That's not to say they're going to be here forever, but we're not getting a shed load of complaints about them any more, and now the initial excitement's worn off, they seem to be on the wane. And Tech have said it'll be a complete pain in the butt trying to switch them back off...

We're sorry, though, we know you hate them. Would this help? Brew Cake

tabulahrasa · 01/02/2016 12:39

Yes, it's my most frequently used emoji...don't know what that says about me right enough, lol

Sparklingbrook · 01/02/2016 12:36

Ah like a 'straight face'?

OP posts:
tabulahrasa · 01/02/2016 12:30

It's a sort of purposefully not laughing face mostly, so if I'm taking the piss out of myself or being a bit sarcastic I'd use it. Or sometimes it's a milder version of Hmm.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 01/02/2016 12:28

Perhaps they could just block all emoji from displaying (even the MN ones)?

Sparklingbrook · 01/02/2016 12:10

What does that one mean tabula? I can see it but don't know what it's saying to me.

OP posts:
tabulahrasa · 01/02/2016 12:01

😐

Lol, sorry - I just like that emoji and I think MN should have it, other than that, I don't care either way tbh...I just can't resist posting them if someone complains about them Smile
