Can we have a topic where name changing is not allowed?

Lots of people feel the 'atmosphere' has been somewhat lost, due to MN becoming so big and so many people name changing for dubious reasons.

So how about a new topic where name changing is not allowed?

So to post in that section, you choose a different name (much like in Mumsnet local). But you have to stick to that name only.

That way, in that section at least, there would be less arses/goady fuckers/Billy bullshitters and drama llamas, hiding behind name changes.

People will become 'regulars' again (in that section at least) and when you go there to chat, you'll at least 'recognise' other people.

OK I'm sure there are 1 million reasons why this is a stupid idea/impossible to set up, but can anyone think of them? Grin

V true, Worra! This is a foolproof plan.

Somethingisntactuallyanything · 29/12/2015 17:30

So without asking for the moon, I think a regulars topic section with no name changing that you had to be member of the site for a while with maryz brilliant four sections in, would just about cover it . Cheers!Wine

WorraLiberty · 29/12/2015 17:28

Mind you, if PBPs act like arses they'll attract attention to themselves anyway, probably leading to another ban.

You were very clever maryz

Post below of genius:

*They should delete AIBU and reformat the topics so there is a section containing four topics: Petty Gripes; I Want A Rant; I Don't Give a Flying Fuck if I'm Being Unreasonable, I just Want You All To Agree With Me; and What Would You Do (I Genuinely Want Opinions).

And then Chat could go back to being just Chat, for friendly chatting.

The acronym YABU should be banned. Anyone using it should get an immediate 30 minute time out.

The sex topic can stay but only if mnhq are willing to move over-sharing threads into it*

and the minor issue that one or more PBPs have already slipped under the net for x many months

Would we get special licence to change to hallowe'en names?

No! We've got the rest of Mumsnet for that Grin

(Would we get special licence to change to hallowe'en names?)

Somethingisntactuallyanything · 29/12/2015 17:18

Bit late here from me too, but YES. Could it be like maryz version of Aibu please? I will just dash off to copy and paste her wise words

WorraLiberty · 29/12/2015 17:17

How much do you know about watercress?

You'll need to read all 120 posts.

Could we pick a local area and hijack it? Orrrrr, could there be a new 'local' area created (i like Regular scorner...) that isnt a real place but set up the same as local?

WorraLiberty · 29/12/2015 17:11

I agree it wouldn't stop them (I'm not sure anything can stop a determined PBP).

But having to spend a couple of months 'puppy walking' an account before it gets accepted, might cut it down a bit.

But really it's more about being able to use a topic and spot regular users, thus giving a more 'homely' feel to it.

God that sounds twee but you know what I mean Grin

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 29/12/2015 17:07

So the PBPs would just stock up in advance. Given that they already go to great lengths to come back, I doubt it would stop them.

I not against it, I just don't think it would work.

WorraLiberty · 29/12/2015 17:03

It would if you had to be registered for a certain amount of time before you could join the topic.

Just like the sex topic.

Or at least it should cut a lot of it out.

OP posts:
DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 29/12/2015 17:00

I can't see that it would make a difference TBH. It's so easy to re-register that it wouldn't stop goody fuckers and Trolls IMO.

BatsUpMyNightie · 29/12/2015 16:57

Oh ffs - coughing up bits of kidney now fucks and cunts Grin

magimedi · 29/12/2015 16:56

Exit, I think liver fluke is only a problem if you pick it wild where sheep srink from the same streams. Most of the H20cress we buy comes from farms, often in Hampshire, with no sheep.

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 29/12/2015 16:56

That came out really wrong. Our use of the words "fuck" and "cunt." Better. Grin

Ginslinger · 29/12/2015 16:55

Yes i'd like it too - i wouldn't name change - too much of a faff

WorraLiberty · 29/12/2015 16:54
