Mobile site still freezing on my phone

iPhone 5
Ios7
Safari

Just gave it a break for a week hoping that most of the shitness would have been ironed out, tried it again, tried to post and the site just freezes if I try to post. Endless spinny wheel of loading but no load.

You have made the mobile site unusable for me and thousands others for the past ten days. I mean literally unusable, not just annoyingly crap. What the fucking fuck were you playing at? This mobile site is a total pile of shit. Sorry, but it is. All the crap changes to functionality were bad enough, the knock on effect on the desktop site was annoying, but this is actually unusable. I can't use the desktop site on my mobile as it's too small so I can't use it. Pissed off.

Okay thanks Ehric for trying again, that sounds unusual and alas frustrating for us not to be able to replicate it so we can fix.

We understand if you'd rather not but if you wouldn't mind running through some more things for us it might help us diagnose what's happening for you.

Firstly are you on cellular data or wifi?
Can you confirm what URL you are trying to access when it endlessly loads?

What action (if any) did you take just before you got the spinning wheel?

Thank you!

Just gone on my mobile to test and no, nothing. Just endless loading.

Hello again, sorry not sure how I missed that! Blush

We're not able to replicate any freezing on the iPhone 5, safari but happy to continue to investigate to get it fixed for you.

Does it happen on all threads or just long ones? Are you able to post on this thread for example?

As I said in my OP
iPhone 5
iOS 7
Safari
I'm pretty sure that it's not a small number of mners who use iPhones.

Hello Ehric, thank you for taking the time to read my other post.

The current mobile design is more modern and we understand that it isn't your cup of tea. We've gone through many iterations of design and continue to make changes so we appreciate you giving it another go. Thanks

We care very much for existing users, whether they regularly post, prefer to lurk or just occasionally dip in. For that reason we include lots of different kinds of users in our testing. We do also care about people who are just discovering Mumsnet, after all we were all new once!

The mobile site did have a number of problems when it was first released and despite our tests we didn't anticipate some of the issues. We've taken a good hard look at our process and made some improvements to ensure that doesn't happen again.

We have worked hard to tackle issues including on phones that are only used by a small proportion of mumsnetters and we're pleased that for most people the site is working as expected.

I'm sorry to hear that isn't the case for you though, could you tell me what phone you are using and what browser and we'll investigate for you.

Thank you

Yes. Well I read the statement and I still don't get it. The mobile site replicated perfectly well pretty much everything that was on the mobile site and all the new mobile site has done is make it look and feel like an app - ie miles away from the original site in look, feel and function. Plus it just plain doesn't work - it clearly wasn't ready to launch but was launched anyway. I don't get it. I suppose if most new users come via devices rather than laptops and pcs as it used to be they may be more comfortable with the app style look but this feels a lot like it has been aimed at attracting those new users without much care for old users who were very attached to the site as it was!

Ok, I'm going to read that post. I don't think I will get it though. Especially the fact that it's just so unrelentingly flawed.

Hi Ehric. Soooo sorry for the stress caused to you - and many other MNers - by the woebile mobile site. Sad

We have been logging all the glitches, complaints, preferences etc. and Tech is working flat out fix all the issues that have come up.

This response from JessicaMumsnet explains a bit about what's been going on behind the scenes and what we're aiming for, and there will be more info available shortly. In the meantime, we will add your comments to our very long list and try to address them.

The desktop button flashes at me then vanishes. Please fix this, I hate it.

Omfg I could weep! There is no button on here to switch back to desktop! What the hell. Now I'm stuck on the bloody horrible mobile site.
