EmmaMumsnet · 06/02/2014 16:11

January is over so it might be time to poke your nose out and try something new.

Mumsnet Local was revamped last year and we have 180+ local sites across the UK. We aim to have up-to-date info on what's happening where you are, like lots of great ideas for activities to amuse the kids in Half Term. Please do have a look and sign-up to your local site. Where we already have Local Editors, we are now sending out monthly newsletters full of great suggestions of things to do, exclusive local offers for Mumsnetters and lots else besides.

We need your help to make this as good as it can be Thanks Cake

Please pop over and upload a listing, review a local service or have a chat to folks in your local area. Or, if you have more time and are looking to make a little money, you could take on a local site as a Mumsnet Local Editor?

Mumsnet Local Editors manage their Mumsnet Local site, keeping it clean, tidy and up-to-date. They write newsletters and work with local ambassadors (voluntary) to hold meet-ups locally.

Local Editors can make money by contacting businesses local to them and asking them to advertise on their local sites. If you become a Local Editor, you will keep the revenue from the local advertising and offers that you book.

If this sounds of interest to you, then please do send us an email on [email protected] with 'interested in becoming a Local Editor' in the subject field. It helps if you tell us a bit about yourself in the email.

Local is still in its infancy but it's growing all of the time: In the last year we have seen some local editors who have been working hard to build local contacts and communities really starting to see dividends, with several seeing monthly earnings topping £1,000. It is slow and steady but the potential is great for the right people.

We very much look forward to hearing from you if you are interested or have any questions.

Happy New Year

MNHQ

PS, we are still processing emails from the last recruitment thread, as we've been spring cleaning our set-up process, so don't worry, you will hear from us in the next few days. Grin

We have had masses of emails, which is brilliant – keep them coming, and thanks all. It might mean we take a few days to get back to you, but we're on it and going through them in order.

Often people email in without posting on the thread, so it's just that someone else emailed first. We'll keep you on our spreadsheet though.

I was the Sydney Tsarina, but I can't access the Sydney local site any more. I'm happy to ressurect it - there are the odd posts to the site (not sure how they are finding it tbh)

sewingandcakes · 12/02/2014 23:09

Do you have someone in Rossendale?

Lovely article here from this weekend's Telegraph about Cherry, one of our Local Editors, if you'd like to know more.

RebeccaMumsnet · 11/02/2014 08:52

Hi all,

Many thanks for the response.
We are wading through the mails and will get back to you asap.

If your local area is not on the list then it is probably taken, do feel free to send us a mail about it is you are interested, there are Local Ambassador voluntary roles available in many areas too.

Charliefarlie32 · 11/02/2014 08:36

Hello there,
I am based on the Isle of Wight, and only the other day commented to family how disappointed I was in the lack of discussion on the mumsnet site for my local area.
I had recently registered and was looking for ideas and groups I could join. Local activities to keep a toddler entertained! But couldn't find any local activities listed.

I would love to take the opportunity to update this site, as i noticed that others felt the same about the lack of use. I already manage a website, and am undertaking further study and training in the area of social media marketing.
I have sent an email to the local mumsnet address.

5madthings · 11/02/2014 07:52

:)

atomicyoghurt · 11/02/2014 02:18

Hi also in Norwich, and know 5madthings, we could work together on this.

5madthings · 10/02/2014 23:50

Lesuffolk, I have emailed the mnet local email and also pmd you.

5madthings · 10/02/2014 23:41

I am in norwich and am interested in doing this.

mum2our4 · 10/02/2014 22:58

What about Hertfordshire?

RachWain · 10/02/2014 20:32

Does anyone need any help in the Lincolnshire area? I'm very interested. :)

LESuffolk · 10/02/2014 19:02

If a town / county isn't on the list, it'll be because its been taken.

I hope somebody takes Norwich and Ipswich - it'll be nice to have another Suffolk or Norfolk Editor to work with.

Bicnod · 10/02/2014 18:38

Was just about to say the same thing...

I'd be interested in being a local editor for Winchester.

Any plans to add it to the list?

mylamouse · 10/02/2014 17:26

Would love to help if you can add cornwall on there ??

fourlegstwolegs · 10/02/2014 17:10

What about Winchester? Nothing ever seems to happen here....
