MNHQ Racism policy

Hi,
I was just wondering if you could let us know when the racism policy has been amended? I'm sure following today's discussions on NI that it needs to be looked at.
It's clearly breaking the equality act to discriminate based on nationality as it is racist, yet MNHQ don't acknowledge this?

Didn't say I was offended just pointing out that you can hardly claim to be a paragon of virtue and then deem me to be the baddie.

Pan · 08/01/2014 19:59

No, no need to be so unpleasant. I just enjoy being exact.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 08/01/2014 19:59

Yes it is very exasperating being told you are talking nonsense isnt it? Wink

wannabedomesticgoddess · 08/01/2014 19:57

I swore. Ah. I offended you did I?

squoosh · 08/01/2014 19:57

No I'm not deliberately stirring, not my scene. I'm just a bit exasperated that I'm deemed to be talking 'shite' because I don't agree with people's view on today's thread.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 08/01/2014 19:54

You may disagree but do you need to be that unpleasant?

I could say the same about you.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 08/01/2014 19:54

Squoosh have you come to this thread deliberately to stir? You seem to have an axe to grind with either me or wannabe but i dont recall ever upsetting you. I recognise your name from other threads but dont think we have crossed words before todays thread. Is there something personal going on here?

squoosh · 08/01/2014 19:54

wannabee you're the one who started swearing at me for whatever reason, I don't see how you can try to take the high moral ground now.

squoosh · 08/01/2014 19:52
Hmm

What 'shite'? You may disagree but do you need to be that unpleasant?

wannabedomesticgoddess · 08/01/2014 19:52

Well wannabe you're hardly in a position to lecture people on manners now are you?

You aren't getting anywhere with any of the posters on this thread, so what, you are going to turn personal?

Pan · 08/01/2014 19:51

Damn. But don't expect/hope anyone to respond to the shite you post.

hth

squoosh · 08/01/2014 19:49

Well wannabe you're hardly in a position to lecture people on manners now are you?

squoosh · 08/01/2014 19:47

Actually Pan, I think I'll hand around. I don't approve of people trying to hound others off threads because they don't like what the other is saying.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 08/01/2014 19:47

Calling people's reactions 'hypersensitive' and 'silly' is belittling and dismissive.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 08/01/2014 19:47

I'm not belittling or dismissing anyone

Yes you are. It has already been pointed out that the issue on this thread is not specifically about that op or those sayings. Its about the bigger picture on this forum.

If you want to call people hyper-sensitive or patronise them go do it on the other thread.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 08/01/2014 19:45

Ive explained my reasons on the other thread. That you dont wish to accept them as valid isnt my responsibility to fix. I have hidden the other thread because of your attitude and others like it. I am on this thread eagerly awaiting a response from HQ. i dont feel i should have to hide this one also to avoid being badgered for answers i have already given (whether to your satisfaction or not).

Pan · 08/01/2014 19:43

Off you go then squoosh

squoosh · 08/01/2014 19:42

I'm not belittling or dismissing anyone. I was trying to have a discussion, but that clearly doesn't suit your agenda, that or you're unable to answer sensibly. Sorry about that.

I'll leave you to your rage.

YoureBeingASillyBilly · 08/01/2014 19:32

Squoosh

This thread was started in order to request that HQ revisit their policy on racism on the board. This thread is not the deleted thread, nor the Oirishism thread or the Ireland/southern Ireland thread. Stop hijacking it and asking people here the same questions that have been answered again and again on those respective threads. We get that you dont believe anyone is actually offended, we really do but could you please contain your belittling and dismissive posts to the relevant threads.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 08/01/2014 19:31

Its just willful fucking ignorance.

There's only so many times I can say it before I think a person is just being intentionally obtuse.

squoosh · 08/01/2014 19:30

I couldn't disagree more.

I love getting stuck in when people are being racist twats, but this hyper sensitivity is silly, acting as though Ireland is the only country that suffers trite, clichéd phrases.

So are people offended when Americans say it?

(my argument is only about today's thread I'm not implying reactions to other threads are hypersensitive)

Pan · 08/01/2014 19:18

Stuff like that squoosh is a door of invitation to continue to slur and is a thin end of an unpleasant wedge.

ThePigOfHappiness · 08/01/2014 19:18

All this shit is making me so angry, I'm just going to bow out for a while. Would someone pm me when mn respond?

OP posts:
squoosh · 08/01/2014 19:12

Are people offended only when Top of The Morning is said by an Engish person, is it okay for Americans to say it? Because God knows they love to.

And your Page Three analogy just doesn’t work I’m afraid BookroomRed, English people are men and Irish people are women presumably? That would suggest that racism is a one way street from England to Ireland. And we all know that’s not true.

Tackle actual displays of racism by all means, but the offence taken on today’s thread was just ridiculous. In my opinion of course.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 08/01/2014 19:04

I just clicked on the thread that outlines the name of Ireland as the country etc.

Another one, full of the same dismissive shit as the rest of them.
