Mobile site - hard to click thread title -page jumping

darksparrow · 31/12/2013 08:03

I'm using the mobile site on an S4 and when I try to select a thread title from active convo when I touch the screen the page jumps down slightly and I end up selecting the wrong thread. Been doing this for days and it is driving me crazy.

Can you take a look please MN.

What's happening now is that the ad banner doesn't load at all but, but as soon as you touch the screen to scroll it page refreshes with the ad and the whole thing jumps.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 03/02/2014 02:26

Was still a problem for me earlier as well. I scroll down the page, only to find myself back at the top again. Really irritating.

Samsung Galaxy something, on mobile site.

DaleyBump · 03/02/2014 02:00

Or

BakingBad · 01/02/2014 15:12

Still a problem for me Sad

RowanMumsnet · 29/01/2014 16:11

Well... thanks to the super-speedy ShamTech, we think this is done now. Hopefully it will stop the jumping problem

Avalon · 29/01/2014 10:35

Ooh, speedy Rowan!

Tech think the answer might be to make sure that the space for the banner ad loads first, so that the page won't jump when the ad loads. It's on our to-do list now.

Avalon · 29/01/2014 10:30

It's been doing it for ages for me. Glad to see it's not my phone!

S4, Android 4.3, samsung browser.

RowanMumsnet · 29/01/2014 10:22

Hello

We are looking at this - it does sound ruddy annoying and we can see why you've flagged it. It's not likely we'll take the ads away I'm afraid but we'll see if we can do something about the order in which they load, or the speed with which they load.

We'll come back when we've got something more definitive to say!

BakingBad · 28/01/2014 21:08

My phone does this all the time. Every page that loads flicks to the top at least three times and I'm forever clicking on the wrong button.

I've lost count of the threads I've wanted to read but hidden by accident fat fingers don't help

intheround · 28/01/2014 20:55

I think i know what's happening. The ad at the top doesn't load right away ,and when it does it generates a page refresh.
The only way round it at present is to wait till all that has happened before selecting a thread. It's really annoying though!!!

carlajean · 28/01/2014 20:47

What's the mn policy on adverts? I've given up using it on my laptop as there are so many, and they are getting much more obtrusive, and now i'm getting them on my nexus.

SnakeyMcBadass · 28/01/2014 20:38

Yep, the banner ad loads in a second after the rest of the page and it all down shifts. I keep hitting things I don't want.

carlajean · 28/01/2014 20:35

It's happening to me as well, when the advert at the top loads. Really irritating. Doesn't seem very high on the list of mn priorities though...

cashewfrenzy · 27/01/2014 23:17

Android 4.0.3 on an HTC Sensation, Safari. It's driving me bonkers. It's the ads at the top of the page. When they load they drop the rest of the page down to make room, so whatever link you think you've clicked, you've actually ended up clicking something a few lines above it. Totally infuriating.

You can get round it by waiting for the ad to load/page to drop down before clicking, but it's annoying and makes navigation tedious and slow.

Naoko · 18/01/2014 21:16

It's doing it again! Not in active convos this time, thankfully, but when hitting 'next' to go to the next page of a multi-page thread I actually get the message box almost every time. Incredibly annoying. Galaxy S3, Android 4.3, Google Chrome.

(incidentally, when this last happened, I think it was some kind of font/text size display issue - you could workaround by zooming in or out to make the text adjust itself to the page differently and then hit the link without trouble; also if you didn't and just tapped the link straight off, you could briefly see the text on the page adjusting itself differently on the page, thereby meaning the spot on the screen you tapped was now taken up by a different link, before it loaded the new page. If that makes sense as an explanation - I hope tech knows what I mean because I appreciate that is not the world's best bug report.)

RebeccaMumsnet · 08/01/2014 19:53

Thanks all - we will flag up to tech and see what's happening.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 08/01/2014 12:30

Hmm, a very quick test seems to suggest that this is only an issue on multi page threads?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 08/01/2014 12:23

Its doing it again
Not sure what use a screenshot would be?
Clicked on "bookmark" it changed colour, then "last page" highlighted itself and went there instead.

I'm wondering if it is some sort of weird coding thing where what you see doesn't quite line up with where the links actually are?

I think adverts were fully loaded....

JulieJingleBellsMumsnet · 04/01/2014 20:28

Hi,

We're sorry to hear that you're still having problems with this. It would help if we knew what you're using to mumsnet (which browser and version). A screen shot that tech can take a look at would be fab if any of you can do this as well. Our email address is [email protected]

BankWadger · 04/01/2014 17:41

This is driving me round the twist too. I've been sent to stack of pages I don't want or had to scroll down the page 2 or 3 times.

RayPurchase · 04/01/2014 17:35

I have this problem too every couple of months it does it for a while. Annoying.

Spikeinhiscoat · 04/01/2014 17:05

It's happening to me too on an android phone, probably for a month or two. I tried to click on a thread link earlier today and got the log out button instead. Thankfully the site asked if I was sure I wanted to before the damage was done.
