It's the starvation mode thing that annoys me most. I found some references to it in some (not all) seriously undernourished/underweight people. Somehow it is used to explain every slightly porky person (like me) who puts on a pound when they think they should have lost weight.

Not sure about a lifetime ban but the un-backed up dieting myths are annoying me, strangely they all seem to focus on getting the person to eat more. Any or all may be true but no one seems to back them up with actual evidence, just links to faddy websites.

If you eat fewer than calories per day your body goes into starvation mode and you instantly gain 13st
Fizzy drinks cause obesity
And of course - it's easy, just move less and eat more. Yes, all diets fundamentally come down to this. But there are many different methods, and many physical and psychological factors and what works for one person won't work for all - if it did there would be no overweight people and no diet plans.
