Secret Location on Mumsnet

Does Mumsnet really have a secret area where only those who have happened to be in the right place at the right time know about? I have just seen a load of allusions to a new thread in a secret place and it is the first I have heard about it!

It was created as a "safe space" for people needing to hide.

Some of the long running threads go in there.

Because people moaned about them coming up in active all the time.

Although why posters didn't just hide them ,I don't know.

No! I've never felt the need to go otbt, I just namechange for the private/embarrassing stuff.

You can post about whatever you like in otbt. Its quite easy to find via the usual list of Topics.

Somewhere that the thread doesn't come up on Google or Active conversations and disappears very quickly everlong I think. But how do you ever get to know about it except for threads like this? Confused

I wouldn't know what to post on it TBH.

Yes, that also Fru. And, actually, it doesn't show up in Active.

So...the only thing different about OTBT is:

Not on Google.
30 day deletion.
Not in Active.

Other than that, it's not private.

No no secret place. Thank you all, I now 'get it' haha. I had misunderstood the context of another thread!

Glad OTBT exists. I didn't know about it before but it is fab to know there is somewhere you can post freely without Google bringing your personal life to the number one spot.

There is a topic called "OTBT" which I think OP is referring to.But it isn't secret, not really. It's listed with all the other topics, and you don't have to be a member of MN to read it.
