Royal Baby Name competition - post your royal moniker here and win a bundle of children's books.

Do you think Wills and Kate will stick to usual protocol and go for something traditional (Alexandra is currently hot fave at the bookies)? Maybe they'll pick up the trend for 40s/50s retro (princess Barbara)? Or strike out for something truly modern (baby South Windsor)?

We're inviting you to join our guess the royal baby name competition. Each poster is allowed one male and one female name guess, including middle names. The person closest to the royal baby's actual name will win a fantastic bundle of children's books, including The Royal Nappy by Nicholas Allan and Shh! Don't Wake the Royal Baby by Martha Mumford and Ada Grey. If more than one poster guesses correctly we'll pull names out of a hat. Good luck!

I don't think they will think outside the box (or at any rate, ACT outside the box)

The way she is dressed is pure protocol

I think they will seriously toe the line and it won't be a surprise to anyone.

But what matter, it's a baby and babies are great and they will be ace parents probably, well I hope so, they seem pretty nice.

gazzalw · 19/07/2013 13:01

Also George V and Mary had a son called Prince John who seems to be expunged from Royal Family trees - certainly in the past, although I think less so now that we know more about him (remember the drama by Stephen Poliakoff?) - mainly because he had learning difficulties and epilepsy and died as a child....

AndHarry · 18/07/2013 15:23

Prince John? Too Robin Hood for starters.

Dickwhittington · 18/07/2013 13:04

Just read some more of the thread can someone please remind me why they will avoid John?
I'm sure they will avoid James too.

Dickwhittington · 18/07/2013 12:57

Kate's mother's/sister's middle name, The queen's name, Diana's middle name and the queen's second middle name.

Arthur Henry Michael Phillip
Arthur is just what I fancy, Henry for Harry, Michael for Kate's father and Phillip for HRH!

I've spent way more time than I'd like to admit researching this...

Helena Elizabeth Diana for a girl.

Still pondering for a boy
