To log in (I've got fat fingers and am on my IPad) and it says MN aren't accepting any new registrations?

We had a lock in at our local six months ago. That was the last time I went out.....Wine

YoniOldClothCatPuss · 12/04/2013 21:31

WAHEY! Mines a pint of Snakebite. Grin

Shakey1500 · 12/04/2013 21:02

Brilliant days/nights to be had Maat Smile

DH and I were reminiscing today in fact. Sadly the pub isn't the same anymore, different landlord/clientele etc, plus the fact we live over 200miles away now. Being responsible parents doesn't help either Winkthough we do let our hair down on a child free night but more likely to be home by 7pm instead of a.m as our bodies can't hack it anymore Grin

Maat · 12/04/2013 20:49

Shakey if it wasn't for the fact that you mentioned London, I'd have thought you had been to the same pub as me.

Landlady's voice - check (and she never let anyone else have the karaoke)

Falling off stool - check

Only coming out when it was daylight - check

Oh, and corned beef sandwiches on thick white bread being passed round during the lock-in (they were left over from earlier funeral wake!)

Class Grin

Ooh I love a good lock in. Halcyon days of a back street pub in East End of London. So many memories!

  1. The time a man burst in with a gun and a regular calmly (and swiftly) somehow bent his arm backwards, took out the magazine and tossed in on the nearest table before sending him flying out of the door. Surreally, everyone just carried on drinking like it was an everyday thing Shock
  1. Falling off many a bar stool
  1. The landlady's appalling singing voice.
  1. Lock ins where emerging at 7am was deemed "an early night" Grin

So yes, anyway...can we smoke?

YoniCantBuyMeLove · 12/04/2013 20:31

Haven't had a lock in in years.

tigerdriverII · 12/04/2013 20:29

Well, tbh the other thing is that I'm a bit old for lock ins. I like to be settled down with a peppermint tea and a good crime novel by about 11.

Cue Mary Hopkins: those were the days.....

Jux · 12/04/2013 14:15

You need to live round here where most of the pubs are only licenced until midnight, tigerdriver. We have lock-ins (but don't tell....)

tigerdriverII · 11/04/2013 22:26

You don't have lock ins nowadays with the bloomin liberal licensing laws. I love a decent lock in. Haven't had one for years. Count me in!

YoniWankEnobi · 11/04/2013 22:23

Oh, but I quit so I can't smoke now...Jaffa cakes only Sad

YoniWankEnobi · 11/04/2013 22:23

I was once locked in school (the whole school was) in a snowstorm thingamajig. Slept there overnight until it got cleared in the morning. The teachers borrowed cigarettes of all of us sixth formers and then shared a drink with all of us (the younger ones didn't get a look in, obvs). Not the best example but the lock in was great!

catsrus · 11/04/2013 21:13

I was never with the cool gang, never part of a lock-in, until now
thanks MNHQ Thanks

Jux · 11/04/2013 21:08

I remember the mornings after the lock-ins better than the lock-ins themselves. (Except someone always put 'Pearl's a bloody singer' on the jukebox; grrrrr, if I never hear that song again it'll be too soon.)

YoniWhenILaugh · 11/04/2013 19:46

ooh ta. I'll bum a cig. I've quit but I don't think virtual smokes count. Grin

Such, such fond memories of the lock ins.

You knew you'd made it when the landlord would lock up with you still in there.

FruOla · 11/04/2013 19:04

Aw, HelenMNHQ, please stay with us - never mind that Rebecca not inviting you [humph]

We're in a 'virtual Winchester/White Hart', we have a jukebox, kebabs, gin and tonics, wine, cigs (yes, Badgers, I smoke too!), Doritos and dips ..... and a Mariachi band to keep us entertained during the lock-in. Grin

HarrietSchulenberg · 11/04/2013 18:46

Is it like Sean of the Dead? Are we in The Winchester?

BadgersRetreat · 11/04/2013 18:36

No lock-ins, we promise...

Jux · 11/04/2013 17:27

Can I put the jukebox on?

HoneyDragon · 11/04/2013 17:19

Cool. Does this mean if they aren't letting anyone in no one can get out? Have they disabled the big bad banning finger? Can I misbehave nd not get sent away?

Cool Grin

YoniYoniYoniYoni · 11/04/2013 15:12
