Do mumsnetters really not understand why the press calls them nasty.

All these nasty threads about a dead woman, it is disgusting and shows the true colours of many people on this site. Whatever she did or didn't do she is dead, it truly amazes me that you allow threads that say I heard someones was dead so started dancing or singing. The use of the c word why oh why is it needed such a foul word to call someone.

I agree. DS (18) just came downstairs and said he was really sickened by some of the nasty stuff on the news; after all, she was someone's mum and grandma, and whatever you thought of her policies, people should show some basic humanity for her family and friends.

If a teenager can figure that out, why can't so many middle-aged mums and grandmas?

Well, no. I really don't understand why - just because a proportion of MNers are expressing the same opinions that are being expressed by the same proportion of people - you think this justifies the whole of MN being called nasty. Care to explain? I'm not talking about what people should and shouldn't be saying about Thatcher - I'm talking about why YOU think that makes MN nastier than anywhere else right now.

Facebook and Twitter are exactly the same today.

Most posts I have seen are ones abhoring the revelry, anyway.

VBisme · 08/04/2013 21:38

I'm from South Yorkshire, if you think this is bad you should see some of the facebook comments.......

Many people were deeply affected by her policies, and still are, I think it's reasonable to allow people to express their views.

MN is a cross section of society, lots of people are saying the exact same things across Britain today.
If MN didn't have these types of posts then it would be the time to worry.

Free speech, whether you like it or not.

IamtheZombie · 08/04/2013 21:34

Do you really think that Mumsnet is the only place where an extremely diverse range of views is being expressed about Baroness Thatcher?

If you see posts that you feel are beyond the pale then do what MNHQ ask you to do and report them.

Yup today has shown mn at its worst utterly disgusting behaviour
