Hello

Just to let you know that we are dealing and exterminating; thanks for all the reports. Hope you'll understand if we don't have time to come on to all the various different threads about this right now.

I think a good MN registration question would be, 'How much does Peter Andre love his kids?'

Tee2072 · 03/03/2013 16:20

Mine was not a serious question for consideration!

All they are hoping to accomplish is delay and confusion...and I've been watching too much Thomas...

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 03/03/2013 14:56

You are right, Dawndonna. I might have enjoyed it the first few times, but that is all.

IamtheZombie · 03/03/2013 14:55

Posting anything on any of these threads just bumps them back up the Active list. There are more than enough new ones still going up to swamp Active as it is. Please just report.

Dawndonna · 03/03/2013 14:52

Unfortunately, posting 'oh do fuck off, dear' really is a waste of time. It's not a person.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 03/03/2013 14:33

Dh agrees that MNHQ should post the originating email addresses so we can spam them back. I am tempted to go through every thread posting, 'Oh do fuck off, there's a dear' - but I suspect that would be a total waste of time.

ShowOfHands · 03/03/2013 14:29

I know they're busy but do you think a sticky on this thread might help stop the multiple 'what are mnhq doing/do they know/are they up' threads?

RustyBear · 03/03/2013 14:26

Wasn't me that suggested the ham, Mme!

I don't know a lot about how spam bots work, but maybe you could have a question like the ones for the competitions, where you have to answer a comprehension-type question based on a page that's linked to (eg the meaning of one of the acronyms). Or could a spambot cope with that?

MmeLindor · 03/03/2013 14:19

Rusty
problem is, you would have to be a MNetter already to know that the answer to 'What kind of ham do you like', should be 'naice'.

We could have some kind of pregnancy related questions.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 03/03/2013 14:12

What is the point of the spam? Is it because mumsnet scores highly on google searches, and therefore if you are searching for live streaming of a game the mumsnet post will appear high in the results?

EllenJaneisstillnotmyname · 03/03/2013 13:59

Bugger, given the answer away...

EllenJaneisstillnotmyname · 03/03/2013 13:59

Naice?

EllenJaneisstillnotmyname · 03/03/2013 13:58

OMG, baby names! Sinking under a pile of shit spam.

Tee2072 · 03/03/2013 13:56

I do not know what kind of sex you have LR...

Rusty If you go to the market, what kind of ham should you buy?

LineRunner · 03/03/2013 13:45

That previous picture is the inside of the sex shed.

RustyBear · 03/03/2013 13:44

Apparently the best way to stop spambots is to require a question at registration - advice "to use a question that is unique to your forum, avoid using common knowledge like "what is 1 + 1". Eg a boating forum asked questions about boat terminology, like, which side is port?

Wonder what questions MNHQ could come up with....

Tee2072 · 03/03/2013 13:39

Turning off new reg has been suggested and I'm sure they have thought of it as well.

BoneyBackJefferson · 03/03/2013 13:25

MNHQ

Couldn't you just turn off new registrations for a while?

HalfSpamHalfBrisket · 03/03/2013 13:23

Oy Sparkling
Nowt wrong with the name Spam! Grin

FancyPuffin · 03/03/2013 13:20

MNHQ I know you are working like beasts trying to sort out the spamming.

Just one idea in the past you have suspended all new registrations for a few days when we have been invaded.

Would that help?

Gin Wine Thanks

LadyBeagleEyes · 03/03/2013 13:19

Poor MNHQ, I do feel sorry for all the work they're giving you. Wine

Dawndonna · 03/03/2013 13:18

Everything is bloody drowning in it at the moment. Driving me mad and I'm in a mardy as it is!

Sparklingbrook · 03/03/2013 13:15

This is probably more like MNHQ

Sparklingbrook · 03/03/2013 13:12

Everyone will be calling their baby 'Spam'. then. Sad

Tee2072 · 03/03/2013 13:11

That's definitely the TARDIS, sparkling.

The whole site is, pixie.
