Zombie is old. Zombie is grumpy. She freely admits to those.

Zombie also has one tit left and there are a few posters who are really, really getting on it.

It's getting to the point that she's about ready to take an extended MN holiday just for the sake of her blood pressure and her sanity.

Please, please may we have a hide poster button?

OP posts:

Ahem!

If people would actually post their ridiculous threads about breast v bottle, Christmas in August etc in the correct bloody topics, then it would be possible to hide them and avoid annoyance and calm the old blood pressure.

But, no, everything gets posted in Aibu. And anyone who objects is told they are "thread police" and what does it matter?

BrianCoxandTheTempleofDOOM · 03/01/2013 20:00

I don't think you can report somebody for being an ignorant nob-head though Sad

Chubfuddler · 03/01/2013 19:59

If some posters are really that objectionable surely their posts breach talk guidelines? Just report the posts.

Naoko · 03/01/2013 19:57

I'm sure that's possible slightly. If I had the skill I'd be right on that, genius idea. Sadly I don't....

There isn't anyone on MN who annoys me sufficiently that I'd hide them, but I'd love to have the option in case of future need. I've been on plenty of online forums and communities with a hide button and it's always been universally enjoyed as good for sanity, bloodpressure and general peace of mind.

Pinot · 03/01/2013 19:54

Ohhhhhhhh please can we have a Hide Poster function? The goading morons have me done in.

Tee2072 · 03/01/2013 19:52

Interesting question slightly. Hmmm....

BrianCoxandTheTempleofDOOM · 03/01/2013 19:48

slightly is talking in tongues.....Confused

Wink
slightlysoupstainedbabygrows · 03/01/2013 19:41

Daft question, but wouldn't it be possible to write a greasemonkey (or similar) script to hide posts from particular posters?

BrianCoxandTheTempleofDOOM · 03/01/2013 19:37

There is one person I would like to hide.

Have done for about 6 months (maybe more). I actually do hide any threads started by them.

Funnily enough they don't tend to pop up in the posts that I join in on, so hiding them within a post hasn't come up yet.

Sparklingbrook · 03/01/2013 19:32

I think the poo emoticon would have been handy over the last week or so, and the chestnut. Smile

BeerTricksPotter · 03/01/2013 18:36

This reply has been deleted

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

Sparklingbrook · 03/01/2013 18:33

Not this pile of poo again. Grin

Pagwatch · 03/01/2013 18:26

I want a poo emoticon.

Sparklingbrook · 03/01/2013 17:56

It would be difficult to have a chestnut emoticon. it would look like a small poo, which would probably ok. I have a pile of poo emoticon on my emails and you can have it with flies or without. Grin

Tee2072 · 03/01/2013 17:54

If you want to see how it can work successfully, go to any Delphi Forum. They've had hide poster for years. It inserts 'you've hidden this poster, do you want to unhide this post' link instead of whatever twaddle the poster has posted.

It would really work on MN since you aren't actually replying to a particular post when you reply, but to the whole thread, unless you put the poster's name.

SoleSource · 03/01/2013 17:49

Unhidden would see what you and hidden had posyed. Peopke would figure it out and w more sputeful silly games.

HestonsFatCock · 03/01/2013 17:48

I really want a chestnut emoticon now. Thank you Tee.

SoleSource · 03/01/2013 17:48

NetMums havehide poster I had 52354896459 on my list

cynner · 03/01/2013 17:48

I am not sure, SP(if that really is you) would not the next reply just come down?

SoleSource · 03/01/2013 17:47

Exactly SP

thats why

Sigh

People been asking for years

SPsFanjoIsAsComfyAsAOnesie · 03/01/2013 17:46

I don't think will do it tbh. Wont it leave gaps in threads if you hide posters?

SoleSource · 03/01/2013 17:45

Hide the poster button would be an abdolute Gosend but it would become obvious if a poster repeats what hidden posterhas already.stated.

Hi NorTEE

Hello Sparklers

Tee2072 · 03/01/2013 17:44

Hestons, go up there ^ and go to Customise and scroll to the bottom of the page and there's a link to the hide topics page.

Sparkling, what we really need is a button for 'move this to the right topic' and then we can hide the topic!

Sparklingbrook · 03/01/2013 17:40

YY Tee exactly. Grin And maybe a chestnut emoticon like the biscuit one for 'Not this old chestnut again'. Wink

HestonsFatCock · 03/01/2013 17:39

Tee, how do I hide whole topics please?

Spot on OP. I could really use a hide poster button for those who talk about themselves in the third person Wink.
