Bullying

Does Mumsnet have a clear anti-bullying policy? Where is it, what is it?

I've looked on guidelines but apart from stating no personal attacks there really isn't much.

I don't think anyone is saying that exactly usual.

(are they? Confused)

I think its a bit off to tell posters they are not allowed to moan about being skint.

Oh Oh Oh Lem has a good idea about moving the threads.
Smart! who'da thunk it

FuckerSnailInYourHedgerow · 01/07/2012 20:24

I've whinged about money here before, but only because I never do it in rl. In rl I grit my teeth and pretend everything is just hunkyfuckingdory, so I need an outlet. I nc every now and then, so I don't think it could be construed as begging for Christmas.

I do agree with the above posters who pointed out the people who surely must pm or fb each other re ganging up on people. It's too much of a coincidence that they show up on these threads. In fact, I think you can sometimes name the order in which they appear.

GoOnTim · 01/07/2012 20:23

Oh my christ I just said Xmas not Christmas

LadySybildeChocolate · 01/07/2012 20:23

It may help if they changed the title to 'fark me, I'm skint!' or something. Wink

GoOnTim · 01/07/2012 20:23

For every poster that gets The Rage? at the moneytalk, there's at least another one that gets The WussyKnicks? at said poster being sniped at.

So money talk -> The Rage? -> Sniping -> sympathy from The WussyKnicks -> dunno that bit, mebbe more chance of Xmas handouts?

usualsuspect · 01/07/2012 20:22

I don't mind if people whinge about being skint tbh.

I never knew if you moaned about having no money on MN , posters automatically thought you were after the christmas fund.

We do Lady it's the Credit Crunch topic.

LadySybildeChocolate · 01/07/2012 20:17

Would it help to have a 'Damn, I'm really skint' section so that people can whinge/hide it?? Wink

There are a couple of posters who talk about money a lot! It does seem as though they want the sympathy vote. I can understand that it's a huge problem for a lot of people, but when they are given practical advice which is ignored it makes you wonder what they really want.

I also agree with Seeker about the deletions. I think we should have a 2 minute facility whereby we can edit or delete our own posts if we speak out of turn and if we retract something we've said then we have the chance to apologise if we felt we crossed a line.

If we choose not to then it should remain so people can see us for what we are. Having it deleted just gets us off the hook and makes the thread lack cohesion.

I do think trying to define bullying is very tricky though. No-one can be bullied in the true sense on a forum as we all have the choice to stay away if we find the environment unpleasant.

usualsuspect · 01/07/2012 19:52

Is everyone who moans about being skint on MN eyed with suspicion then?

I've asked for vodka donations loads of times Grin

HerMajestyQueenHillyzabethII · 01/07/2012 19:50

Well I came on to say I completely agree with LeBof as well, but I think Chaos has done it for me. Grin

You are right about the Squeaky Wheel Theory Boffy. It brings out the worst in me I am afraid.
