I have dithered about posting this...

Does anyone else notice how many people are posting in txt spk? I can't read it, and I can't take it seriously.

When registering - can there be an acknowledgement that posters are likely to be better received if they write properly?

It seems to be getting more prolific. Not sure why.

No I don't look important with Flake all down my top. It is true but I also keep my shoes and and don't pick my nose on the train. Swings and roundabouts.

AmberLeaf · 08/05/2012 22:05

Boobies 'lol' I always thought it was Boobless hahha!

what a wally

usualsuspect · 08/05/2012 22:02

You don't look important with flake all down your top.

Babylon1 · 08/05/2012 22:02

I post mostly from my iPhone, and yes it does require a certain amount of checking before hitting send!!! I think it's cos my fingers are too fat for the keyboard Blush

And it's only taken me a year to find out that if I turn the phone on it's side, the screen and keyboard turn sideways too giving a bigger keyboard!! BlushSmile

TuftyFinch · 08/05/2012 22:02

I look important than the man watching a DVD picking his nose with his shoes off it's not a loving room it's a train annoys me every day every single time

DaenerysTargaryen · 08/05/2012 21:58

Grin at tufty looking 'important'

DaenerysTargaryen · 08/05/2012 21:56

Oh boobies! I knew that when I was 8!

TuftyFinch · 08/05/2012 21:55

I learnt shorthand it was called t line?
The old Flake was fine, there were no holes in the wrapper so I made a bit of a mess eating it but that's really nothing new I don't mind not using full stops and commas but I couldn't let the apostrophes or capital for Flake go but that's my issue and nothing for anyone else to bother about I hope no one minds this long post I'm seeing how much and how quickly I can write before my signal comes back unfortunately I think it's still 2 stops away but I'll carry on regardless because I've done my marking I forgot my book and I don't have a newspaper nor can I see a stay one ah here we go I think my signal's here oh not quick enough gone again anyway doing all this typing on my phone makes me look very important I expect

awingandaprayer · 08/05/2012 21:55

I thought 'lol' was 'lots of love' for a long time.

HandMadeTail · 08/05/2012 21:50

Type it on a calculator, then turn it upside down.

AmberLeaf · 08/05/2012 21:50

shouldnt that be 55378008?

usualsuspect · 08/05/2012 21:48

I did do a typing course , I was rubbish at it though.

MadameChinLegs · 08/05/2012 21:47

Imagine typing it into a calculator....now turn the calculator upside down

UnChartered · 08/05/2012 21:47

i learned to type, on a proper typewriter with carriage return, erasing pencils and carbon paper to make copies

and i got a grade 1 CSE and numerous RSA exams...i learned to rebel at a late age Grin

DaenerysTargaryen · 08/05/2012 21:46

What's 5318008 then?

usualsuspect · 08/05/2012 21:42

I learnt shorthand at night school in the olden days , thats a bit like textspeak

Snorbs · 08/05/2012 21:42

Actually OP, I'm with you. I used to be on netmums and one of the reasons I left (aside from the insane moderation policies) was that the atrocious spelling made my eyes bleed. Mumsnet used to hold the ability to construct coherent sentences in high regard. It doesn't seem to any more.

This change appears to have coincided with the rise in numbers of people posting on here from their iPhones. One can only assume that the iPhone is so shoddy that it's impossible to compose legible text on it. Or maybe people just don't care that they appear to have the grammatical skills of a 13 year-old chav. It bugs me, it really does.

(All that being said, I still think a well-placed 'meh' can work a lot better than a Biscuit)

UnChartered · 08/05/2012 21:40

see ya hun

SuzySheepSmellsNice · 08/05/2012 21:40

Mmm old flake...

UnChartered · 08/05/2012 21:39

IllegitimateGruffal0Child · 08/05/2012 21:39

Ah well - I'm off to the doghouse now to post about buying a puppy from a breeder.

Maybe then off to start a BF v FF debate Wink

Been on this site yonks and only just realised what 5318008 was Blush

I hate text speak on here too. There's no need for it. It hurts the eyes and the brain.

TuftyFinch · 08/05/2012 21:37

I'm not diabetic and I have sparkling water so thank you for your lovely replies I just found an old flake in my bag and ate that just in case I am diabetic but not

Tee2072 · 08/05/2012 21:36

Er, stale...

Tee2072 · 08/05/2012 21:35

Better to eat a stake sandwich if you are diabetic otherwise better to be hungry.
