Are there still moderators on this site? If there are, are they employed direct by Mumsnet or are they members that volunteer themselves for the role? How do you become a moderator on this site?

I thought Olivia had come back "recently" too :)

QED · 10/04/2012 01:56

Hulababy was a mod I think. And so was Cod.

themarriageplot · 10/04/2012 00:04

Yes, they certainly give advantages to the craven. Grin

RustyBear · 09/04/2012 23:27

Yes, you lose your name, but only because the system doesn't allow anyone to re-use a name, not even the same person re-registering, or at least not without Tech's intervention. MNHQ have been known to give repentant flouncers their name back if they grovel [bugrin]

themarriageplot · 09/04/2012 23:02

Oh, I'm probably wrong on that, then. As you say, there are always so many bears around. Grin

But I thought losing your name was the main disadvantage of de-regging. Who knows.

RustyBear · 09/04/2012 22:16

Didn't think you could reuse names, even if people had deregged? There must have been a Rusty before, though, because I tried that name first and couldn't have it - but it then came up in the name auction for Mile for Maude and I bought it. There were also several bears around when I joined.

themarriageplot · 09/04/2012 22:08

Pretty sure someone else had your name before, RustyBear. Must've de-regged.

OliviaLMumsnet · 09/04/2012 22:04

Hi there
The mugabe thread was deleted for being beyond the pale.
Thanks
M Towers

IamtheZombie · 09/04/2012 21:59

Sam Seabourne

Samuel L Jackson

Zombie thinks she detects a pattern.

giraffesCantDonateBoneMarrow · 09/04/2012 21:57

Miss Mod Miss Mod she is chasing me, help help! [buwink]

Tee2072 · 09/04/2012 21:54

If you want to be chased, giraffe, that can be arranged, no need for a mod...

[bugrin]

giraffesCantDonateBoneMarrow · 09/04/2012 21:52

fuck

RustyBear · 09/04/2012 21:47

Did you mean me CanCant? - I was never a mod - I've only been here 6 years...

Tee2072 · 09/04/2012 21:40

I said it might have been 6 months ago...I was only off by 2 months! Grin

I know the feeling. My ickle baby is nearly 3 and half my height. Of course, I'm only 5'2"!

OliviaLMumsnet · 09/04/2012 21:39

Yes to Samuel L Jackon
Mat leave quite a long time ago now Sad been back since Aug.
My ickle bay-bee is a bruising great toddler who ate a whole child's portion at a pub lunch today SEVENTEEN months old tomorrow (sniff)

SecretNutellaFix · 09/04/2012 21:34

Because we have similar before and Oh My God, they become horrific, very quickly. Better to get rid of the whole thing and be done with it

Hissboo · 09/04/2012 21:33

Not sure I understand why certain posts weren't deleted instead of the entire thread, which is or was the usual policy. Threads do seem to be deleted rather than posts removed more during evenings and weekends. Which makes me think there is more actual moderating going on these days.

SecretNutellaFix · 09/04/2012 21:30

the Mugabe thread was really in pretty poor taste hissboo- it's indicative of how self moderation works.

See something that is offensive- and wishing someone a long and painful death is offensive imho- and then report it.

Hissboo · 09/04/2012 21:29

Chaos. Somebody is very ill in Singapore. A thread was started and then deleted because let's just say that he doesn't have many friends. Google is your friend, in particular breaking news.

usualsuspect · 09/04/2012 21:28

Really hissboo ,is it kicking off somewhere I don't know about?

SecretNutellaFix · 09/04/2012 21:27

The gamey slippers and zimmer tend to give it away Chaos!Grin

ChaosTrulyReigns71 · 09/04/2012 21:27

OOh Hissboo, do tell more...

ChaosTrulyReigns71 · 09/04/2012 21:27

SNF, doya think I'm an OAP?

Hmm
Hissboo · 09/04/2012 21:26

Seems to be some 'moderating' being used tonight. [buhmm]

Tee2072 · 09/04/2012 21:24

According to Olivia, she is still the same Olivia but had a Samuel L Jackson moment at some point.

I, personally, hope it wasn't during childbirth as that would just be disturbing for all concerned.

::Tee hopes she is remembering correctly that Olivia recently returned from maternity leave and not some other member of staff::

::recently in Tee's head being the last 6 months or so::
