Recently, there have been quite a fwe Beyond The Pale comments posted very late a night.

Could you advise us on how best to deal with them?

We obviously report en mass, but atm they seem to stand for several hours and obviously can cause serious offence to posters.

Is there a way of dealing with this more expeditiously so these posts are seen by fewer people?

I agree something needs to be done about the horrible things a troll has been posting late at night - have been up late twice this week and the stuff thats been posted has been horrible Sad

OliviaLMumsnet · 05/04/2012 23:38

There is Original HelenMumsnet who has been here for aeons who is Queen of TrollHunting

And there is NewGirlHelenMumsnet who i think is now OtherHelenMumsnet who looks after all the insight with AnnMumsnet and helps with all the surveys and product tests.

HTH

Er......

night, and their ip address tracking certainly deterred any further posts. Wink

LoopyLoopsIsTentativelyBack · 05/04/2012 23:12

I think I might have missed last night's offering. :s But tis a frequent phenomenon.

QuickQuickSloe · 05/04/2012 23:11

I've been thinking about this all day. One of the posts last night was so very disturbing I wondered if it should be reported to the police. I don't really know how this all works Internet thicko but I always thought that ip addresses were somehow traceable. Is that true?

OhChristHasRisenFENTON · 05/04/2012 23:11

I think Tapir and Sparkling someone did a smashing job last m

LoopyLoopsIsTentativelyBack · 05/04/2012 23:09

I think those are brilliant ideas. especially the rum

Also, while your here Olivia, who is this 'other' HelenMumsnet?

DameHermionesEasterKITTEN · 05/04/2012 23:09

if i had a fancy iPhone i could while away the insomnia in a more interesting fasion. as it is it's just me and my jilly cooper collection and a fast-fading book light.

Hmm, I always assumed there was some kind of alarm which is raised if a large number of reports are made after hours - I remember one horrendous comment made once in the early hours of the morning and it was gone within half an hour. Perhaps lucky coincidence that someone from MNHQ happened to be online?

That's a great idea bronze - sort of a limbo state?

OP posts:
OliviaLMumsnet · 05/04/2012 23:00

@ChaosTrulyReigns

Could there be some sort of reports per minute counter which then activiates stronger klaxon to MNHQ to jump the the BatCar and whup asses all across the boards?
The others have a BATCAR?Shock

@ChaosTrulyReigns

Do you still want us to report at 2.39am?

YES please Smile

bronze · 05/04/2012 22:57

Perhaps if there were more than a certain a,ount of seperate reports on a post then it could be put into limbo until it is dealt with. Noone being able to read it while it is in limbo. That way no human is needed straight away
