Is it against Talk Guidelines to point out a sock puppet out loud on a thread?

I would be crap at sockpuppeting. Have enough problems if I ever name change for something sensitive and live in fear of getting the wrong name in the wrong place. Deliberately doing it on the same thread would just about kill me I think

oh, I once saw a thread of which omtrent the first twenty posts consisted of sockpuppets.

let me see if I can find it. iirc the poster lost their ability to namechange as a result and was subsequently banned, but that's a whole other story...

a sockpuppet is someone who namechanges on their own thread.. so for instance:

Someone posts a thread saying "I gave birth to a baby last night and it had two heads and weighed 22 lb and I was up climbing a mountain this morning," and the rest of mumsnet all respond in a Hmm Biscuit Confused manner, until another poster (the op under a namechange) comes on and says "How dare you question the validity of my friend's post, I am her rl friend and I guarantee she is genuine and you are all bitches and you all deserve to burn in hell..." Grin
