Mumsnet Homeswap - the houses are so luxurious!

so I've just been looking at the link to the homeswapping site through the email, as this is something we are thinking of doing.

But the houses are all so luxurious! where did they come from - surely they're not mumsnetters homes? I don't think I would feel comfortable swapping with any of those luxury houses, and I'm not sure that the residents of them would want to live in my house. are there any "normal" houses in the list?

its not often i am lost for words.....

this is the ulitmate property porn....

cakeismysaviour · 30/12/2011 14:36

I live on a seafront, but they probably wouldn't want our two bed flat (sweet though it is) in exchange for one of their mansions. :(

TheMonster · 30/12/2011 14:30

Dharma, do you live in my street? Grin

Seriously, I'd love somewhere in south London so that I could see my mum more often.

TurkeyCurryTilFebruary · 30/12/2011 14:28

I'm totally up for MN Hovelswap!

DharmaCeutical · 30/12/2011 14:27

I'm up for Mumsnet Hovelswap Grin

2-up-2-down in run down of an average English town. Wake up to the relaxing sound of native Staffies howling and enjoy the quaint way that the locals decorate their front gardens with rusty white goods and fag butts.

Anyone.....?

SuePurblybilt · 30/12/2011 14:26

No, I cannot be swayed send money or sweeties

Lovely tagline there Manny.

OracleInaCoracle · 30/12/2011 14:26

ooooh, can I join that one?

OTheHugeManatee · 30/12/2011 14:24

That's it Sjue - MN Hovelswap, the Cinderella sister of MN Homeswap. Battered, preloved homes in unremarkable areas, with toddler-sized jam handprints on walls and dog hair in the carpets.

50p a year to join, and no starting threads on MN afterwards about how 'certain people should be joining the FLY quiche' Grin

DottyDot · 30/12/2011 14:24

Go Sue! Are you up for bribery discussion on the choice of house..?!

MotherPanda · 30/12/2011 14:19

Soo... the scruff's swap quiche. Love it.

SuePurblybilt · 30/12/2011 14:17

YY Manny, I shall be in charge of MNHovels. I shall match you all up randomly Grin at no extra charge.

hippoCritt · 30/12/2011 14:15

I am having a panic attack over the one in Kent where you can see into the bathroom from outside the guest pavilion. Note to self when building guestpavillion ensure guests privacy!

SilentBoob · 30/12/2011 14:15

I have an awesome house - massive, 5 bed with pool and full time help - and I would swap for absolutely anywhere, don't care how small, damp or scruffy. Here's the catch; I need 2/3 weeks in Cornwall next summer, meanwhile it will be Ramadan back home.

Any takers?

Anyone?

No?

Grin
OTheHugeManatee · 30/12/2011 14:14

Ah, x posted. Yes, the dilapidated Normal Home Swaps Grin

OracleInaCoracle · 30/12/2011 14:14

tbh, I love where we live. its far enough away to not get drunks rolling past of a weekend (apart from dh, but I have a whole other thread on that) but close enough for it to only be £6.50 for a taxi from town.

lostinwales, I thought so will have a nose at the other one now. there is one just over the welsh border which is a bit posh too.

and I was so proud of my shit tip little house.

Lindax · 30/12/2011 14:13

love this one.

Features - VERY big garden Grin

OTheHugeManatee · 30/12/2011 14:13

Sjue - I suppose we could always start the unofficial MN home swap quiche.

I'll swap my scruffy shabby chic 1-bed flat in Sarf London for your Devon clutter if you like. I might even remember to feed your rabbit Grin

DottyDot · 30/12/2011 14:11

Yes it should be called MN Normal Home Swaps - much less scary Grin

DottyDot · 30/12/2011 14:10

Maybe we could get MN to re-launch it or something? And have a section for photos - glam it up a bit?! I'm busy dreaming planning weekend breaks for 2012 - maybe it's a good time to get swapping..?

TheMonster · 30/12/2011 14:09

I'd be up for a swap of normal homes. There's no way I would pay £99 a year to be told no-one will swap their mansion for my 2 bed dated bungalow in West Yorks.

lostinwales · 30/12/2011 14:08

You have lissie you'll have seen the back of the one on the swap site too then, it's further towards the sea with a garden going down to the river, very lovely! I love how they have listed places to eat that are an hour drive away, not much happening round here Grin (apart from boat trips of course, they are very good)

D0oinMeCleanin · 30/12/2011 14:08

Oh lord I could never add my house to that site or the Guardian one, although I very much doubt anyone would like to visit my house. I have no idea why. We're very close to anything you could possibly need. There is a big supermarket, the town center, a beach and two parks all within walking distance. As an added bonus the local drug dealer lives but five doors down and the local football hooligans convene next door for those who like such things Grin

aristocat · 30/12/2011 14:07

no offence taken fishie

Shakey1500 · 30/12/2011 14:06

Oh my. Just looked at another (Tonbridge) and thought oooh that's a nice size. It was the "Guest Pavillion". Absloutely stunning. I shall offer them ten whole British Pounds to purchase. I would go up to thirty but don't tell them that

fishie · 30/12/2011 14:05

yes that mn section would be much better. lissie i love shrop/wales bit. cannot quite enthuse re wolverhampton sorry aristo.

i live in olympics land. havent got any tickets and won't be able to get to work...
