are we allowed to carry on discussing this?

OP posts:
MildlyNarkyPuffin · 09/11/2011 14:43

She never namechanged to avoid bans or to sockpuppet or for any dodgy reason.

She namechanged to avoid stalking.

TheRhubarb · 09/11/2011 14:41

Her FB page says it was set up in October 2011.

I'm not stirring, I'm confused. I thought that valhalla was an old mumsnetter who was banned many moons ago. And lots of people are referring to her under both names. If you don't have a clue what's going on then all of this is very confusing and complicated and I'm sorry but it does make you wonder what else has gone on/is going on.

DreamsOfSteam · 09/11/2011 14:35

oh right, that explains it then DooinMeCleaning

ChippingInNeedsSleep · 09/11/2011 14:35

DoS - because when she namechanged her facebook was private.

ChippingInNeedsSleep · 09/11/2011 14:34

Rhubarb - you are twisting things now and that's really not on.

DBF was banned under either DBF or vallahala (I can't remember which) but was allowed to start posting again. No one has said she was never banned.

Vallhala changed her name to DBF (in much the same way you & others change your name).

She was stalked - people are.

She has not 'gone by two names' she namechanged. Less so that the majority of posters on MN, but a long way.

Most posters have a facebook account.

Really - what is your problem with DBF you are coming across as quite nasty now and that's not something I had you down as.

DreamsOfSteam · 09/11/2011 14:34

I didn't suggest that name changing wasn't allowed, I just have trouble understanding why if there is a genuine stalker that the facebook page would still stand.

DooinMeCleanin · 09/11/2011 14:34

Her FB used to be private and could only be viewed by friends. She changed it shortly after all this kicked off so her 'MN friends' could find her.

ConstanceNoring · 09/11/2011 14:32

Just imagine if she did come back under a new name you could spot her a mile away I'm sure Grin

GrimmaTheNome · 09/11/2011 14:30

that was somewhere in the threads - everything is by this point - IIRC she'd given up caring about it. Summat like that. [shrug]

ChippingInNeedsSleep · 09/11/2011 14:27

DreamsOfSteam - DBF posted personal stuff on here as well (yes, she does post in other areas as well as the DH!) and perhaphs she didn't want the person who was stalking her to do a search on Vallhala and find those posts or whatever).

Anyway, name changing is allowed. Lots of people on here actually post under several names at the same time. So long as you don't do it on the same thread to back yourself up it's not sock puppeting and it's allowed.

DBF simply name changed and made no bones about it. She even put

TheRhubarb · 09/11/2011 14:26

Banned, name changed, not banned but stalked, banned again or was it first time ban? Insulting but not really, going by two names, facebook accounts - all very confusing. I think I'm inclined, just from this thread alone, to err on the side of the ban.

There are llamas outside you know...

SixStringWidow · 09/11/2011 14:23

Suggests starting the acceptance process...

This is all too heavy for an internet forum, I don't have the stamina any more

Pinot · 09/11/2011 14:22

Rhubs thats the Christmas Robin. He comes to check to see if you're being good, then flies back to the North Pole to tell the Big Man.

ChippingInNeedsSleep · 09/11/2011 14:20

rhubarb - I'm not 'taking it up with you' I'm responding to your posts. That's all.

ChippingInNeedsSleep · 09/11/2011 14:19

DBF had done what MNHQ asked of her, she had 'toned down' her posts, a lot. She called TLES a liar. Calling someone who has been proven to be lying a liar is really not like shooting your mouth off randomly at a poster asking a question about rehoming their dog. She had been warned about 'lecturing' as MNHQ calls it, about being 'shouty and opinionated' this is different. Had she posted this on the relationships board (where she also offered great advice) or any other board it would most likely have been ignored. She hasn't been banned for doing what she was given the warnings about, she has been banned for something different.

If a child is on a final warning for pushing kids on the playground, then is rude to a teacher - is it OK to punish them as if they have pushed another child in the playground or do you punish them like any other child that had been rude to the teacher? IMO that is the question.

but chipping, she didnt just call her a liar.. it was the whole "You are a liar, foolish and a disgrace, not just for what you are doing to this dog but for trying to discredit someone who works her arse off to save them. You appall me and I am furious..." that got her banned.

That should not have got her banned. All of it was true.

Rhubarb - Vallhala/DBF had been banned before, yes. I'm not sure under which name. But if you are asking was she banned under Vallhala but posting under DBF then no, she wasn't. She was no longer banned and she was open about her namechange.

DreamsOfSteam · 09/11/2011 14:19
TheRhubarb · 09/11/2011 14:18

Like I tell my kids when both are caught fighting "I don't care who started it and who hit the hardest, neither of you chose to walk away therefore you both receive the same punishment."

A robin just landed on my bird table, how cute! Wasn't I meant to be working?

ConstanceNoring · 09/11/2011 14:14

I agree with a lot of what you've said, Rhubarb, but the thing that's unfortunate here is the way in which the ban has finally stuck on this occasion - kind of 'it wasn't her time to go' , not over this, she was not as much to blame for what was being said to TLES as some others on that thread and frankly TLES herself. Against good advice she got it wrong, and then asked for sympathy. Yes it was red rag to a bull for her, and she bit.

It is a pity that no-one stepped in to remind her to tone it down, in fact the opposite happened, many posters who had tired of TLES in the past (history which I admit I do not know but on that thread they clearly did) did jump in to add to the attacks on her which were far worse than the ticking off DBF was giving out.

But yes this will go round in circles, some think she deserved the ban, others don't - well at least not for this one.

GrimmaTheNome · 09/11/2011 14:14

To clarify - DBH had been previously banned but then allowed back. She didn't get banned as Valhalla and then re-incarnate under a different name - she didn't break that sort of rule.

GrimmaTheNome · 09/11/2011 14:12

Oh no, not badgers - might inflame my dachshund if I let images of those in the house!

CalatalieSisters · 09/11/2011 14:11

Yes, rhubarb, I think valhalla (i.e. dbf) was banned before. I think she had had more than enough chances.

TheRhubarb · 09/11/2011 14:11

Don't take it up with me Chipping. I'm just posting as I see it. Life isn't fair at times, just deal with it. Mumsnet is not the be all and end all. Look out the window from time to time.

Right, half an hour more of intense work then kid pick-up, home and tea.

GrimmaTheNome · 09/11/2011 14:10

was the original Valhalla banned?
that was mentioned somewhere on one of these threads - no, she namechanged because of stalking under that name.

ChippingInNeedsSleep · 09/11/2011 14:08

Rhubarb - DBF may have over stepped the mark at times, she doesn't deny that. She, & we, have also said had she been banned for something 'ban worthy' this would not be an issue. The fact is, what she said to TLES was not a 'banning' offense and yet because it's her she's been banned. No one else got banned for calling TLES a liar. People said far far worse on that thread and weren't banned. She's been singled out because it was her and it's not right.

Other posters that have been banned have been deliberately causing trouble, their aim was to cause trouble, that has never been DBF's aim, not at all.

TheRhubarb · 09/11/2011 14:08

Now let's turn our attention to
