dear mn hq, please could something be done about the anti sn posts on mn

as I know you are aware(I have the emails) people from the sn community have left this week, due to the vile things that have been said to the/or about SN.
isn't it time that mn hq took some steps to eradicate this, as you do with trolls? surely disablist/anti sn/ personal attacks should be deleted and something done about the posters.
or do we just keep loosing well informed, SN educated people from mn.
(no I can't link to a thread as there has been too many)

OP posts:

Christ the theme park thread.

AtYourCervix · 11/09/2011 11:39

Having read those 2 I actually don't know what to say.

mamalino · 11/09/2011 11:38

4madboys, I started an AIBU thread in SN about this! Smile

Peachy · 11/09/2011 11:37

Oh goodness yes the themepark thread

mamalino · 11/09/2011 11:36

So where's your apology to Fanjo then? I feel you owe her a genuine and specific one

Peachy · 11/09/2011 11:35
4madboys · 11/09/2011 11:34

fanjo i shall look at that thread and report any posts that need to be.

what i am finding is that i dont see/hear of these threads until after the event ifyswim? i post on a post natal thread and on others that are in active convos here and there but am not here a lot, dam children needing my attention Grin

so i think i shall go and start a thread in aibu...stand up and be counted...

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 11/09/2011 11:33

but thanks pag ;)

Pagwatch · 11/09/2011 11:32

Fanjo
That is exactly what happened to my son so I can understand.

I respect your decision. But I won't be hounded off here because of some wankers. I won't isolate myself from the good sorts on here who wish me well.

But in my opinion mnhq do have some explaining to do - and that is a position I have never taken before.

WidowWadman · 11/09/2011 11:31

I hadn't come here to play the victim, but to apologise.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 11/09/2011 11:31

also, anyone wondering why i left would be advised to look for spiderpig8's comment about the disabled on a recent theme park thread

mamalino · 11/09/2011 11:31

X post Fanjo didn't realise you were here. I can see why you are so upset, it's awful here at the moment.

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 11/09/2011 11:30

'Oh and I once started a thread under a different name in Chat explaining my ds's "invisible" disability and what it means to us on a day to day basis and what we are up against. I got some amazing responses it is true - 70 of them. Of all the posters on MN only 70 wanted to respond to me and some of them were convos that I got into with various posters so repeat posts. Now if I had started a thread regarding a racist incident or a sexist incident or about homeless people, which I did once and got hundreds and hundreds of posts I would have, quite rightly, been overwhelmed with sympathetic and caring responses. It seems that prejudices have a pecking order and I don't think those with SN even appear on the list, certainly not on MN anyway.'

Just to answer this - as a constant lurker I would be very reticent to post about something I know very little about, and would be worried about offending through ignorance as this is such an emotive subject. I'm not disputing what you say, just trying to offer a reason for it.
Also, am I right in thinking that SN doesn't appear in Active?

FWIW I do agree that there appear to be some massive double standards occurring, and I hope something does get done about it.

Peachy · 11/09/2011 11:29

4madboys only if you shoulders are wide enough, just be gently warned (and appreciated)

kerry glitetr started a thread asking why there was news about new punishments for truancy that only mentioned what would be done to aprents on benefits.

It satrted on all benefit claimants

then to SN kids / benefits becuase Glitter and maybe me I don;t know were there

and then deteriorated rapidly though i removed myself early on

have just read glitters thread. What a pair of absolute cunts.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 11/09/2011 11:27

..my SELF IMPOSED BAN of course, I am not banned

Pagwatch · 11/09/2011 11:27

Tbh the worst part of the threads are seeing posters getting upset, a few trying to support then, a few banging on regardless because they seem oblivious to the fact that their position is quite offensive but a cowpoke of choice bigots who then piggy back the thread to be vile.

If the people who are not intending to offend and are just voicing their view would have the bollocks to denouce the nasty fucker, then they would be shouted down.

I have no wish to pick on widowwadam because I respect her decision to discuss this but, in that thread, had widowwadam chosen to say "fuck off bunnywunny, that is not what I meant" it would have isolated the nasty shit and glitter would have felt less attacked.

If you stand alongside the arse and don't condemn them then it is as if you agree. Surely?

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 11/09/2011 11:27

Am going to break my ban to just explain why i left..then I will leave again.

It's not just THIS post, every time I post on here almost the eedjits appear and as soon as I mention SN I get goaded, sneered at, and I feel bullied.

The disablist comments start, I get angry and they laugh at me.

It's nice to read all the support on here but it wasn't there on that thread really, some people were nice but more said "why are you being oversensitive Fanjo" and one even said "Noone was rude on this thread".

The real straw that broke this camel's back however was the sneering about my daughter's regression.

Someone said "distressing regression, is that a diagnosis".

If anyone can imagine your child losing all their skills just before they turn 3, this is not a subject I wish to be used to make jibes at me.

I used to LOVE MN and enjoy posting supportive/funny things but now all I seem to do is post angry stuff because of the "eejits". It is not fun now.

i have seen posts from mnhq on other threads today, so why they cant take the time to reply to this thread as well i dont know? i think it says a lot tbh.

peachy that will show some solidarity, but i am debating starting a thread for people to stand up and be counted, but am unsure as to which section to post it in? aibu would of course get most replies, but not necessarily the kind we want........

WW, I'm afraid, I don't buy it. "unspecialneedsy" is childish and sneering. What is so difficult about saying "without special needs".

It's not rocket science.
