Is it just me?

Still having this problem (pages loading very slowly with "waiting for ads1.mumsnet.com" in status bar). I'm using Chrome.

theyoungvisiter · 15/03/2011 09:52

I'm on firefox btw.

The ad that it seems to have most trouble loading, is the mumsnet wine club - no idea if this is connected or coincidence.

nethunsreject · 15/03/2011 09:43

I'm on mozilla and it is slow

theyoungvisiter · 15/03/2011 09:42

it's still really slow for me - it keeps timing out waiting for ads1.mumsnet.com if that's any help?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/03/2011 19:50

oops - meant 'add ons' on last post not 'ad ons'.
typing lying down as a bit knackered!

for firefox go to tools - ad ons and down load adblockplus. When it is installed click on the red ABP button on your browser and 'open blockable items. You get a whole list. For the moment block the scripts with 'ad' in them.
Not kind to leave it on after mn have sorted the issue as the adverts are an important source of revenue.

Furball · 14/03/2011 16:41

I've blocked scripts on google chrome - I googled how to do it.

It is now running fine Smile

BlingLoving · 14/03/2011 16:04

Still slow. And it's Monday. And it seems to slow down everything else as well - if I close the MN tab, then suddenly my internet starts to work again!

Have not read whole thread - can't be bothered trying to load lots of seperate pages.

FrottageCod · 13/03/2011 23:16

mine's ok now, d/l ad blocker! on Safari btw

NotShortImFunSized · 13/03/2011 23:12

Mine still super slow, it's driving me bonkers!! Think it's getting worse Confused

Using Safari.

ragged · 13/03/2011 22:08

How do I block scripts?
Am on Firefox.

Sidge · 13/03/2011 21:55

MN has been very slow this weekend and is worse tonight.

I'm using Firefox and like others it's ads1.mumsnet.com that is displayed on the status bar.

CloudsAway · 13/03/2011 21:20

was great for ages today, no ads, no slowness. Had a chance to read and catch up on things for a change.

back to being crap now. Almost unusable at this pace.

FrottageCod · 13/03/2011 21:15

very slow now, not noticed until this last hour - is pop up blocker on safari good enough to stop the ads or do you have to install ad-blocker...I am on a macbook

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/03/2011 20:54

no problems for me still - got my blocking still on (sorry mn, but without them it was really really bad)

ethelina · 13/03/2011 20:40

thought it was just me with the laptop. I may as well go and do something in RL...

moosemama · 13/03/2011 20:39

Still very slow here, been driving me scatty all weekend.

The status bar seems to say waiting for ads1.mumsnet every time a page either loads ridiculously slowly (blank screen for ages) or won't load at all.

ethelina · 13/03/2011 14:28

back to normal speed without the ads.

nannynick · 13/03/2011 11:42

I can't see any adverts at all today. No delays in site loading though, so it does point to it being an advert problem - though if it's one particular advert, server load, or if it's a script in general is unclear.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/03/2011 20:55

well, it is much better without those scripts!

OP posts:
CatherineMumsnet · 12/03/2011 20:54

Hi all, we are aware of this - not sure what's causing it yet. Sorry for the frustration, keep us posted to let us know if it's working better on any particular browser.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/03/2011 20:53

ok I have blocked two scripts:
topadnew and adtalk
and I am back to normal speed.

OP posts:
ethelina · 12/03/2011 18:51

Bloody hell it's just as slow on safari as it is on the crappy lappy running Chrome or IE8.

Flisspaps · 12/03/2011 18:41

It's so slow it's as if we've gone back to 1998 and dial up.
