much to her chagrin Justine has been thrust forward into this HILARIOUS poll

we MUST make her beat Diana ( who is after all D.E.A.D) and good houskeeping's favourite cover girl fecking twiggy

so third from bottom will do her Wink

are we limbered up?
get voting!

Surely it ends 'Cuthbert Dribble and Snot'?

That's my version, anyway.

TrillianAstra · 28/02/2011 13:50

If you want to harangue Watson do it for his racism and support of eugenics. He's said that if there were a gene for homosexuality and you could do a test he would be in favour of people being able to abort gay foetuses.

GretchenWiener · 28/02/2011 13:49

trills on fire today

what a bizarre list. Justine is winning though .......now where's the competition page? high time i won something.

Buda · 28/02/2011 13:49

So funny!

Difficult choice though. I mean how to decide between Justine and Barbara Windsor???? Tough one really. Hmm. Hmm.

thumbwitch · 28/02/2011 13:48

Trillian, don't go spoiling my rant there. Grin I knew that, but she was never acknowledged properly for her contributory work anyway.

iscream · 28/02/2011 13:48

Voted, she is in the led with 20.77%

Eleison · 28/02/2011 13:48

it isn't a prominent message: it is at the head of the list of contenders

TrillianAstra · 28/02/2011 13:48

You can complain that she wasn't given sufficient credit, but she wouldn't have come up with the structure on her own, and she didn't die from lack-of-Nobel-prize.

Littlefish · 28/02/2011 13:47

Justine is at 20% ish now!

thumbwitch · 28/02/2011 13:47

I've voted numerous times without that message, Eleison - how is that then? Confused

Crapbarry - sadly I too would be unable to make it, seein' as I'm in the land Down Under :(. Can you leave heckly questions for him to answer? Or prime a co-worker to do it? Grin

definitely Pugh, Pugh... - tell your WRONG friend so on me, Eleison. Grin

TrillianAstra · 28/02/2011 13:46

Rosalind Franklin died in 1958, Watson and Crick got the Nobel Prize in 1962. She wouldn't have known anything about it, and Nobel Prizes are never awarded posthumously.

Hassled · 28/02/2011 13:45

I think Pugh Pugh too. The Brothers Pugh.

corns12k · 28/02/2011 13:44

Just vote Bof - don't overthink it!

jabberwocky · 28/02/2011 13:44

HAve just voted. Go Justine!

BitOfFun · 28/02/2011 13:43

But there are forty pictures...how does that work? Who is the imposter?

Eleison · 28/02/2011 13:43

I always thought it was pugh pugh, but then soneone said no, its hugh pugh. I should have had the courage of my convictions. I prefer pugh pugh. Clearly in a small village fire service it is quite likely that brothers will serve together.

Btw, people, you can only vote once. it tells you on subsequwnt votes that your vote has already been counted.

BitOfFun · 28/02/2011 13:42

Or the one in the straw hat? Help me!

IngridBergmann · 28/02/2011 13:42

She's not there, BoF.

However I just found this interesting piece of information:

'"Nork", a 1950s Australian slang term, derives from New South Wales, where the prominent udders on a cow advertised Norco, the North Coast Dairy Co-operative.'

Isn't that informative? Who knew.

MmeLindt · 28/02/2011 13:40

There must be a Leona Lewis fan club voting.

crapbarry · 28/02/2011 13:40

as an aside - thumbwitch, James Watson is doing a talk at my work soon, do you want the details so you can harangue him at the end? :o (I can't go, due to childcare, so can't sit and mutter at the back as I initially planned to!)

thumbwitch · 28/02/2011 13:39

Listen people - there is a LINK at the bottom of the words, above the poll list, that takes you to mini-biogs of all the contenders. You can read them! They are only one or 2 lines in most cases, just the salient points.

Cicely Saunders set up the first dedicated hospice.

crapbarry · 28/02/2011 13:39

leona lewis has overtaken again. when does the voting close?

thumbwitch · 28/02/2011 13:38

it's PUGH, Pugh, Barney Magrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Grubb, surely?

I voted for Rosalind Franklin several times, Dame Tanny a few and Millicent Fawcett as well as Justine.

Rosalind Franklin was the one who ACTUALLY discovered the double helix nature of DNA - her x-ray crystallography pics were the clue - but the thieving bastards Watson and Crick (and the other one) didn't give her any credit for it. AND she died at 38 of ovarian cancer, probably brought on by the stress of knowing that she had been ousted from a Nobel prize. Angry No not really - far more likely from all the x-ray crystallography but STILL! Bloody uunjust. Get Dittany on the case. Bloody Men.

Hassled · 28/02/2011 13:37

That list is the most mental list I have ever seen. Who was Cicely Saunders? Should I know? And who the fuck is Sally Hamwee?

Anyway, am not willing to incur the wrath of Justine who probably has the power to eat our children, so have voted.
