Unwelcome visitors - and recent "unpopular" threads

Hello

We thought you should know that we've had a few "visitors" lately who have, collectively, been hellbent on stirring up bunfights on the boards.

They're not your average hairy trucker/bored schoolboy/silly perve but a group from another (now defunct, it seems) forum.

They were behind the Unpopular Opinions thread - and a fair few other threads that have kicked off recently.

We're on the case.

But we would appreciate your help with "Hoovering" up any visitors our Ban button may have missed.

So do report any suspicions using the Report link, and we promise to check 'em out - though it make take us a while

Many thanks, MNHQ

Well. I think I've got the gist.

But are these visitors actually trolling?

Aren't they just doing what we as Mumsnetters do all the time anyway?

I have seen countless unpopular opinions, who do you like/don't you like threads on Mumsnet where posters rip each other to pieces. As my esteemed colleague Springheeledjack pointed out just up the thread.

I don't really understand why they have been banned.

Some of the most provocative and questionable threads I have seen on MN recently have been started by regular "old names" and I don't think they have been banned?

Am not sure what MNHQ have achieved by banning these so-called trouble makers. We seem to be able to make plenty of trouble amongst ourselves Grin.

To sum up: do we accept that some posters post on other forums or not? And if not, why not?

Ta.

RIZZ0 · 11/02/2011 13:37

Yes, I saw the swans on the river. They seemed restless, I think they may be moving to another destination

Mouseface · 11/02/2011 13:35

Smile bib yes.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 11/02/2011 13:35

LibraPoppyGirl · 11/02/2011 13:32

Sure bib I think we're all just killing time until someone comes up with something to actually talk about Wink

What do you want to talk about?

bibbitybobbityhat · 11/02/2011 13:31

Is anyone prepared to have an even slightly serious discussion with me about this thread?

LibraPoppyGirl · 11/02/2011 13:31

Oh Mouse Paris is my favourite city of all. I'd love to go in the spring time. Are there swans on the river in Paris, how adorable.

I'd like to point out that I hsve had at least 3 rucks with Afs earlier named poster in the last 3 weeks and noone has taken a blind bit of notice (apart from Posie who she also had a fight with).

LibraPoppyGirl · 11/02/2011 13:00

I love Paris [sigh with longing emoticon]

RIZZ0 · 11/02/2011 12:54

Afternoon Red Squirrels.

I hear Paris is lovely at this time of year.

Mouseface · 11/02/2011 11:59

Memoo - I think Hully is channeling him into MN.

LibraPoppyGirl · 11/02/2011 11:52

Yep Memoo but Hully is the one in the know, so to speak [tapping side of nose emoticon]

Memoo · 11/02/2011 11:48

Ted Heath, the dead Tory, has a MN list??

You're just messing with my head now aren't you?! Grin

LibraPoppyGirl · 11/02/2011 11:46

What a bummer Mouse nothing worse than having your house wrecked, even if it is in a good cause Smile

Mouseface · 11/02/2011 11:44

Grin Memoo

Ted Heath

Memoo · 11/02/2011 11:29

Who is Ted?!

ImeldaSnowboots · 11/02/2011 11:26

marz IMO the posters that appear to 'agree' with the Hmm posts are usually a bit Hmm too & then a 'regular' appears to get caught up in it, sometimes agreeing, sometimes not but the Hmm posters all appear to be a bit nudge nudge wink wink in a fake kind of way. It seems like a little 'gang' has said, "lets infiltrate mumsnet, make some chums & then get them to argue with each other and question themselves"

Someone commented earlier SGB maybe, something like "what does it matter, its all just opinions", apologies if incorrect. I think it does matter because if people who use mumsnet regularly for advice, chat, a bit of fun, then when folk come along seemingly 'just' to poke fun and piss people off, then its not nothing.

ps not on anybodys list, I think, should join 'nobodys' or is it 'nobdies'? but thread is too damn long Grin

  • Libra I'm good thanks. Having the house torn apart at the minute, new heating system being put in, no hot water or heating for a week now. Last day today.

Sorry, as you were.

LibraPoppyGirl · 11/02/2011 10:51

Good Morning Mouse yes a little more than the night before. I'm feeling quite refreshed compared to yesterday. Thanks for asking Hon [blows Mouse a kiss emoticon]

How are you today? How's your little man? Had a sneek at your piccies - gorgeous absolutely gorgeous Smile

Morning Hully I'm on your list which is The List but what does it mean to be on Ted's list. I hope it's not a list of people he'd like to move over to his side....Shock

ClaireDeLoon · 11/02/2011 10:48

Oh OK, bribery.

They're for Ted.
