Are you using the mobile version of Mumsnet? How can we improve it?

Hello. We hope you've all had a chance to use the mobile version of MN at m.mumsnet.com/.

We know there has been the odd technical glitch with it - and we're busy sorting those out.

But we reckon it's working pretty well on the whole - so now we'd like to know what we can do to improve it.

Please post here any thoughts you have about features you'd like to see on the mobile version that aren't there at present.

All ideas welcome - we'd love to build up a good picture of what you'd most like to see. (But no promises, mind!)

(For problems with existing features, please continue to post on the other thread.)

Thanks v much, MNHQ

I can get mn on my mobile? Really? How?

Did I miss something? Xmas Confused

DeckTheHallWithBowlsOfPomBears · 29/12/2010 00:35

Very happy with the mobile version, it's great.
Would like it to default to mobile version if using mobile device and go to mumsnet.com
Would like to be able to copy and paste from existing post into add message box.
Would like to be able to customise which topics and links appear at the top of the page - perhaps that is already possible?

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/12/2010 22:41

I used it a few times on my iphone4, and frankly hated it, so have reverted to using the full site on it, but don't bother as much as I would if it all worked better.
The reason I hated it was that a single thread title filled the entire screen, so I couldn't view anything worthwhile in one go.

I am hoping that you won't keep us waiting much longer for the iphone app.

DylthanThroughTheSnow · 28/12/2010 22:32

Open links in mobile version

Have a pm box

Be able to delete threads in I'm watching

Be able to hide a thread

Have the ability to name change

Highlight op

They are the main things I would like. Apart from them the site is great. I love it Grin

MrsRhettButler · 28/12/2010 21:42

dance if you press the blackberry button while on the thread and select 'column view' it should fit your blackberry page perfectly :)

sighnomore · 28/12/2010 20:41

Yes I enjoy using it!!
would be even better if-
It goes to mobile Internet automatically if using a mobile device rather than having to search for the mobile version from main site
The report button was moved- I hit it all the time by accident!
The op wahighlighted
I could click the topics in active
And when another thread is linked that when you click on it it goes to mobile version rather than main site

These are the few things I've found annoying but apart from this I love using the mobile site I use it lots!

DanceInTheDark · 28/12/2010 19:22

Oh i started a thread the other day.

What i want from a MN mobile app is a slimmed down MN. ie no frills. It should be mumsnet and not a separate thing altogether.

What i get in my blackberry is a page that doesn't fit the screen, text i can barely see and it's nothing like MN.

It's great on an ipod touch in a fitting on the screen kind of way.

overthemill · 28/12/2010 18:27

use it on my smart phone quite a lot ans sometimes get a really nice version that is really easy to navigate and sometimes get a kind of cut down version of the normal site which isn't (on smartphone). So someway of getting good version always would be good.
would like 'i'm on' big button
would like topics easier/bigger to search

DilysPrice · 28/12/2010 17:46

Like it a lot but also tend to accidentally report stuff and would like to be able to click on Topic names straight from Active convos.
Also find it difficult to track down specific topics - I can never get to Weight Loss (and hence Shredding) unless someone happens to have posted on that topic recently.

Balthasar · 28/12/2010 16:58

I think it's great, but I'd love a post count and a hide button please.

JetSetWilly · 28/12/2010 16:20

I started a thread about mumsnet mobile yesterday bit basically asked for a hide thread button

Also agree report button could be moved I click on it loads by accident

And also agree/would like a refresh button somewhere other than at too of page

Thanks. On the whole mumsnet mobile is working great well done

Iwasthefourthwiseman · 28/12/2010 16:05

'Move the report button is my only suggestion, I click it accidentally at least twice a day!! Other than that I love it.'

Yup same here.

Can we have a shortcut to the OP? And number of posts I'm active convos?

Housemum · 28/12/2010 16:02

Highlight OP
A "last 15 mins" tab

Tee2072 · 28/12/2010 15:06

Second (third?) hide button.

wannaBe · 28/12/2010 14:44

ability to be able to click through to topics from active convos eg, chat/news/whatever topic a thread comes under.

I am using the mn mobile page on an iphone with voiceOver and can confirm that it is accessible.

Maje · 28/12/2010 13:45

A button for "last 15 minutes" and "last hour" like on the website version, please.

Maje · 28/12/2010 13:41

A button for "last 15 minutes" and "last hour" like on the website version, please.

4andnotout · 28/12/2010 12:35

Move the report button is my only suggestion, I click it accidentally at least twice a day!! Other than that I love it.

MusicalMummyJules · 28/12/2010 11:54

It's fantastic - thanks so much. Would love to have a general Mumsnet app for Iphone and Android though, similar to your Babies: A Mumsnet Guide App (also, are you planning on doing a toddler version of this app?)

@jumpyjack - I'm fairly positive there is a return to the top button!

SeaShellsFiringUpTheQuattro · 22/12/2010 09:17

Yy move report button-I have nearly reported so many innocent posts Grin.

In active convos, can the subject headings be links to each subsection?

And can the toddler information be accessible as the baby stuff is :)

Really like it though-it saves my sanity during night feeds.

AnonEnormousStuffedBird · 22/12/2010 09:03

It's Ok, thanks, useful to be able to access. BUT (all constructive criticism of course!):

Where is "Last 15 minutes"?" I love that, use it all the time at home.

Lots of confusing inserted bits here and there, I can't tell what is thread and what is not.

I seem to be scrolling endlessly as well.

But that said, it doesn't freeze/crash and I like that i can still bookmark on it, though not always sure that it picks up my bookmarks when I am back on my Mac (though to be honest, haven't specifically "tested" just felt that hang on, I've been here before a few times)

Highlight the OP would be GREAT.

jumpyjack · 22/12/2010 08:50

"return to top" button?

Or have I missed it?

Melty · 22/12/2010 08:49

I read my threads in one page because its easier on the PC at home, but thats a nightmare on the mobile site. (pages way too big to load) I tend not to read threads that I have not posted on for that reason, I just use the threads I'm on feature.

Can there be a way to set different preferences for the mobile site?

beachholiday · 22/12/2010 08:44

The amount of scrolling down you have to do to get to a thread once youve clicked on it is very offputting. All those logos and other features of the site that you have to get past to get down to the actual thread.
