I went away for a while, was reading from page 25 to catch up and clicked on 'next page and pfft...all gone.

What did I miss?

OP posts:

"Anyway, that's pretty much a whole evening just disappeared with nothing to show for it."

Gah.

Perhaps that tells us something, Hope?

tethersend · 11/07/2010 21:52

Great minds ninah

Although me and stayfrosty had an amazing psychic link going on on that thread for a while.

It was quite beautiful

williewalshsballs · 11/07/2010 21:52

Northernlurker says it well.It seems the op has had any post which outed her deleted.

grumblegrumble · 11/07/2010 21:51

Shame they had to delete the sensible stuff, too.

isthatporridgeinyourhair · 11/07/2010 21:51

Well, there was abuse, but it was directed at people making perfectly legitimate and well argued points by the OP via FB. Niiice.

tethersend · 11/07/2010 21:50

Have linked AF

ninah · 11/07/2010 21:50

tethers beat me to it

toccatanfudge · 11/07/2010 21:49

oh bollox - saw that thread during the day and guessed what it was about (having employed 2 domestic staff, one at "normal" rates and one well below the normal rates.......and they were actually grateful for a job - our maid begged us to employ her brother as a gardenered - we couldn't afford both, he wanted a job, she told us to pay what we could afford -so we did).

and was going to post on it.

ninah · 11/07/2010 21:49

yes that's the one tether
thought thread was a joke too at first

AnyFuleKno · 11/07/2010 21:49

link please ninah

tethersend · 11/07/2010 21:48

Right- I posted on this thread in response to MOS saying 'some bitch has already started', meaning (we think) me.

I responded asking to join them as I was upset someone had called me a bitch, and then pretended I had posted on the wrong thread.

MOS's post and my two have been deleted. So that may have something to do with it?

AnyFuleKno · 11/07/2010 21:48

My favourite bit was when the OP said that the 'houseboy' was like a member of the family, then later revealed that he lived in a dormitory in a compound with other service staff and wasn't allowed to be at the house outside his working times - oh yes, just like a member of the family.

ninah · 11/07/2010 21:47

'right, have started 'the' thread in AIBU. Light the bluetouch paper. If I get flamed it is all your fault! '

thread was a wind up

expatinscotland · 11/07/2010 21:47

Didn't see any personal attacks.

grumblegrumble · 11/07/2010 21:47

No, no abuse chickens, was actually a much more general debate about broader principles than earlier in the thread.

AnyFucker · 11/07/2010 21:46

Gosh, I wonder if MOS spat the dummy out...?

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 11/07/2010 21:46

The bits I read were very interesting, and definitely thought provoking. I thought intelligent discussion was exactly what mumsnet is about

Unless someone rocked up in the last few pages and started randomly shouting abuse.

I really don't think there were personal attacks though.

tethersend · 11/07/2010 21:43

backto, there were indeed boasts of how grateful some posters' staff were.

expatinscotland · 11/07/2010 21:43

Applauds Northerlurker.

grumblegrumble · 11/07/2010 21:42

The economic disparity means that there are sometimes accusations of abuse or modern-day slavery. And the debate was about the point at which you stop providing an opportunity and gainful employment and start perpetuating and benefitting from an immoral labour exchange.

So there are racial/cultural/economic issues there, and inevitably it is sensitive, but I don't think there was anything offensive or gratuitous on the thread, not counting the FB stuff I suppose.
