Some good news to start the week!
The mainstream media might be quiet about it, but the numbers donโ€™t lie: Reform UK just lost SIX by-elections in a single week.

Their momentum is officially hitting a wall. On Thursday, they failed to win across the UK and even lost the incumbent seats they were supposed to defend:

  • Amble Ward (Northumberland) โ€” LOST (Gained by Labour)
  • Hirst Ward (Northumberland) โ€” LOST (Reclaimed by Labour)
  • Claremont Ward (Blackpool) โ€” LOST (Held by Labour)
  • Long Whatton & Diseworth Ward (NW Leicestershire) โ€” LOST (Held by Conservatives)
  • Wick & East Caithness Ward (Highland) โ€” LOST (Stormed by Lib Dems)
  • Forth & Endrick Ward (Stirling) โ€” LOST (Held by Conservatives) about:blank 1, 2]

The right-wing vote is splitting down the middle, squeezing them out in low-turnout battles. Proof that real, local communities are seeing through the rhetoric.

Keep it up lads! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Well lets see in 2029. Plenty of time for Labour to continue to wreck the country and for the Conservatives to be the only real alternative.

Thing is Labour aren't wrecking the country.๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

The economy is growing slowly, despite the incredibly difficult global landscape. Illegal immigration is down. Deportations are up. And men are no longer allowed on women's single sex hospital wards.

The UK is getting better and stronger. And it's happening under Labour.

Lol at your comment that progress can only happen under the Conservatives when you are cheerleading their biggest threat.๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ

TopPocketFind · 16/10/2026 22:06

The posts were disgusting and very much in line with the comments in the ITV report.

I love my country and I want it to do well. I want my children to have a future and stay here rather than emigrate. Its my great fear. But I feel something is going very wrong and we are heading for something bad. And I just don't think Andy Burnham (or perhaps any politician) is going to stop it. In fact so far I think Andy Burnham is going to make things worse. Firstly the Brexit argument horrors again. Secondly more devolution will mean a second Scottish independence referendum. And we are undefended and the economy will crash unless he stops spending. Which he will be unable to do.

Edit. I see your edit. Im not cheerleading Reform. I just hoped to have a sensible discussion about why they are doing so well in the polls. And there didnt seem to be a Rrform voter posting at the time and I find one sided slagging off threads so boring. Plus I agree with some of their policies.

Oh give over.๐Ÿ™„

You'd vote for a sexist, misogynist, treasonous right wing party just because they're right wing. Despite their proven incompetence, misogyny, racism and celebrated links to corrupt sex offenders. You cheerlead the past Tory government despite knowing the fuckwittery they unleashed on our country.

Your ridiculous commitment to your RW ideology comes way before your love for this country and concern for its future.

What a nasty comment. I think you're being very rude and personal. You have your own political views. Allow others to have theirs and be respectful. Those are the rules of MN. I haven't said anything in any way extreme. I simply voice a political opinion that differs from yours.

We used to be able to discuss politics without being so rude to people personally. Its a shame.

I want the best for the UK.

You want to prove the case for the Right. Even if it it means you defending traitors and racists and ignoring the real progress being made. Even when it results in division. And splitting the Tory vote. Even when it is damaging to our country.

It's a bit wick. But I'm sure another centrist party will grow to fill the gap in the centre right.

I think you're taking things a bit too seriously. It's Mumsnet. We're just having a nice chat.

And also I'm afraid I don't understand what "its a bit wick" means. Apologies.

TooBigForMyBoots · 16/10/2026 23:52

I know it's Mumsnet.๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

It's a political discussion about a political party, on the Politics forum of Mumsnet. About my country. A serious discussion on a grown up SM site.

If you don't take your own views seriously, why should anyone else take you seriously?

You don't need to take me seriously, of course.

I think you have a strange approach to your posts. A person having a "serious discussion" doesn't usually resort to abuse about the other person and their views. Your posts clearly don't seek to persuade, but perhaps that is your personal style?

I haven't abused anyone. But then I'm not a Reform representative or apologist.

My personal style is long woolen socks, comfy shoes and scarfs. It's autumn.๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‚

You don't rate your views and posts as serious. Nor do I. Nor does anyone anyone who's read them.

My family was much better off under the conservatives. No, we're not wealthy.

How were they much better off if your family isn't wealthy?
